  • I’ve submitted my form. If I leave it any longer I’ll forget!

It’s a bit more than most months but is made up of overtime, mileage claims, bank holiday pay and a tax refund. I’ve also added a bit to ISAs which I’ll try to make a habit of this year. Declaring on £1768.43
  • I'll be updating after Friday's payday. I'm a little disconcerted though having realised that I'm around £350 up compared to what I'm usually left with when payday comes around, so I'm worrying about what I've forgotten to pay (have checked everything I can think of and all seems well...!).

The way I see it though is that if I have missed something, at least I still have the money set aside to deal with it OR I've raised the bar for myself for the rest of the year and need to see if I can repeat the same figures every month! Lol

I can't say very much has been different this month to explain the extra surplus cash flow. I have been trying to resist the occasional bakery stop if I fancy a treat for lunch, and I've been attempting to stock better supplies in the cupboards/freezer to ensure I've got no excuses to spend unnecessarily. I have stopped at the local chippy less frequently on the way home from work, although that was only ever once every 1 or 2 weeks at around £10 a time. I just can't get everything to add up to that much!

  • Hi folks, number 69 declaring £3530 for January. This is split between investments and cash savings.
  • Hi SF, could I get a number assigned so that I can update for January? Savings target being £25,000. Appreciate the massive input you provide for us all on this forum.

I am really looking forward to sticking to my financial goals this year!

  • Hello

I'm happy to declare £1017 this month. I was paid yesterday so paid myself first.

I have bills next month so may not be able to save as much so I'm doubly pleased to get ahead, well for me anyway lol.

#114 here and reporting a £1800 total save for January. I’m pleased to be ahead of schedule in the first month especially there seems too much month at the end of the money!
  • I am also finally updating :) the changes to the way we save, being frugal and saving money from a work bonus, overtime and a late christmas present have meant we have managed to save £5167. This will no way be a monthly thing. We are aiming for 1k in february I think.

I am really enjoying hearing everyones updates, I don't know anyone in real life who is saving let alone setting high targets and hitting them!

  • £1495.14 for me, a combination of saving, overtime and a premium bond win have helped this month. It's really nice to see everyone saving so well :)

Costed up making a crustless quiche for work breakfasts and lunches. It will save me about £150/month which can also go into savings.

This sounds like one helluva quiche! :D :rotfl:

  • Do you include pension contributions in your saving figures?

    I don’t currently and I’m wondering if I should.
