Morning
Day 9/31, Prolific £2.08 cleared, 70p pending, Spends 8th-15th £45
Had a lovely time with my friend and her DS yesterday. Unfortunately, his recent stay in hospital has revealed another problem that means he will need to undergo open heart surgery again, probably within the next 6 months. That will mean he’s had 2 major operations in 12 months and a couple of smaller procedures inbetween.:(
I need to go to the chemist at some point today and while I’m in the car I may carry on into town to pick up a few school things DS needs. Next week is uniform week, if I can get him out of bed and dressed before the shop closesEverything school related will come out of the joint account. The hardest thing to buy are purple pens which they use to mark each other’s work so I’ll have to order them from Ebay.
Looks like we’ll be working our way through all four seasons here today so fingers crossed it'll be Spring or Summer when I go out. :rotfl:
Hope you all have a good day. xx0 -

What a shame about your friend's little boy needing so many operations TF2. I hope he'll be okay in the end.
Good luck with your shopping today. I'm glad I don't have to buy uniform any more, I remember those yearly bills with dread . When you include uniform and pens/stationary it can be quite an expense! Purple pens are an unusual item to have to buy :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thanks HHDI hope so too. My friend is an absolute trooper. An exhausted one, emotionally and physically, but definitely a trooper
The purple pens drive me nuts and I still can't get my head around pupils marking each others work. It's not even a 'tick or cross' to wrong or right answers. They have to read what's been written and then write constructive criticism. I'm sure this is just to save the teachers doing it :rotfl: To be fair the comments from his peers are pretty good and quite often better and more in depth than the professionalsxx

That does sound unusual marking each other's work in such detail, but interesting that they give more detailed comments than the teacher! I guess the teacher has thousands to do and can't cope with the stress of it all. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I know it definitely wasn't done in primary school but not sure if it's common in high school these days or if it's just something DS's school do. It's not every lesson or set piece of work but when they do it, it's quite in depth. They're given 'markers' to look for and they comment on these. I suppose it could also be quite helpful to read what somebody else has written to get an idea of which angle they've come from and what points they've made.
To be honest, DS's writing isn't brilliant and I tend to focus more on the nice handwriting pupils have than what they've written :rotfl:0 -
I managed to buy a few things for DS today. Total spend was just short of £45 but included a pair of trousers. It would have been more but when I asked if he wanted a branded back pack he said no, just a plain black one, so that saved me a fair bit of money.
My shock of the day was the price of boxer shorts. Age and size wise he’s no longer a ‘boy’ so I ended up in the men’s department where I had to pay £11 for 3 pairs – only store brand as well.
I ordered the purple pens and picked up some stationery bits and a book for him. As well as uniform and equipment inspection every morning they also need to have a book with them as every day starts with 10 minutes reading in form. Woe betide anybody who doesn’t look the part or have the right things with them.
So all that’s left to buy now is the blazer, shirts, shoes and possibly trainers. Not a lot but they’re the most expensive things.xx
