Morning Tink and welcome
Don't feel you have to read all the diary, the best bit has happened over the last 2 or 3 pages if you want to skip forward
It's really just general chit chat and lots of talk about my beloved pots :rotfl:
Which brings me on nicely to how much having pots has helped me since I started writing on here. I can account for pretty much every penny these days whereas before, £200 would be gone and I'd be sat scratching my head wondering where. It's 6 months since that happened and it's hard to imagine why I used to let it when keeping track is actually really simple.
Sorry to read your health isn't great. I have days where I'm full of energy and days where it's a struggle to get out of bed although I think it's a combination of health and age tbh :rotfl: DS is 13 and he and hubby are more than capable of making sure he's sorted for school etc. but I still like to be up so I can make sure all is well and wave him off
But sometimes I'm sat here gone 9am still trying to get going!
Shopping is a constant challenge, if you do read more, hubby's snacks are the biggest culprits  Hope you have a lovely weekend.0 -
Morning

Day 11/31, Prolific 45p cleared, £1.35 pending, Spends £20.50
Nothing much planned for today but we're out for a meal tonight which is a rare event so I'm looking forward to that although I hate the bit where I have to decide what to wear
I've been at 3,100 points for a couple of days on Shoppix but got a scratchcard this morning and won 100 points so I was able to cash out. Not sure if that's just a coincidence or if the bot wanted to tie up a few loose ends :rotfl: Either way, I've another £5 coming to me. I do like this 'free' money and it's surprising how it mounts up. Prolific seems to have gone quiet again though.
DD is planning to stay until Tuesday and as I'm not meeting my friend next week I'm thinking of going back to town with her. She's mentioned a quirky bookshop she goes to that sounds right up my street so I'd love to have a look in there. Then I might carry on back to Uni with her and go to the museum that's literally on the campus doorstep. If I do decide to do that I need to make sure I go shopping on Monday or just add it to the TEsco order - TEsco being the most likely option.
The weather is lovely here today so I've flung the french doors open to let a bit of fresh air in. Will also do some washing while I can dry it outside.
Hope you all have a lovely day. xx0 -
Can I ask if your pots are virtual pots or if you have pots you put the cash in?EFC #185 - £510.00/£1000

Morning LABMUM
 to virtual pots :rotfl: I am very old fashioned and go to the bank on the 1st of every month to draw my cash out. Then I divide it up between the 'pots' which are actually envelopes that I keep in an old handbag - I'm sounding like my great granny here
After I've done that I divide whats left into 4 and that's my weekly money. Each week I get my spends out of the handbag and add it to my purse.
I realise having cash in the house doesn't sit comfortably with some people from a security/too easy to dip into point of view. Personally, once the cash is in the envelope and accounted for I'd find it hard to take it out knowing it's got to be replaced. It's definitely been easier for me to hand over a debit card in the past and not really think about the money.
I'm a bit pot obsessed tbh. Are you planning to set some up? If so, you have to come back and tell me.

Thank you for your quick answer Teafor2. I have a couple of cash pots - groceies/household/toiletries, petrol, my pocket money, birthdays and personal care which is for my haircuts and pedicures and the rest are virtual pots - holidays, Christmas, house, annual expenses and opticians. I think your diary could almost be my own lol. I was never sure where my money was going but I keep track of it now on an app. I am lucky that my husband still gets paid weekly in cash so I don't have to go to the bank to draw money otherwise I would do just as you do. I love filling my envelopes each week.EFC #185 - £510.00/£1000

Hi tea - just catching up. Real life has been very busy this week and not had time to read my diaries. Many congratulations on paying your cc off :j:j:T:T so pleased for you. How lovely of DH to say you don't need to put the money back

I have a mix of current accounts for different pots with various savings accounts attached and some plastic wallets with zips in that I use for my pots. My Dh gets paid weekly so all my pots get filled up every Thursday
To say you are just over the pennines we have had terrible weather today with thunder and hail!!!
Hope you have a peaceful Sunday xx0 -

Morning LM
Yes we do sound very similar - although not any more, so lets give ourselves a big pat on the back :T :rotfl: Having a weekly pay packet coming in must be brilliant. I do wonder if that's part of the problem for a lot of people, although I know in theory budgeting for a month should be no different than doing it weekly.
Have a lovely day. xx0 -

Morning BB50
Paying off the CC feels brilliant. Hubby's not a bad old thing is he
I have a bank account that I can have 5 savings pots linked to and I tried to save in them but it was too easy to keep shuffling money around and ending up with nothing
Envelopes and hard cash seem to work best for my personal money.
Somebody else's husband who gets paid weekly! Maybe it's more common than I think. I wonder if people would still prefer that really. It seems a lot easier to spend money that you can't actually see than part with cash.
Weather is nice again today here but a bit cool. Have a lovely Sunday. xx0 -

Yes I am bad for shuffling money around in my online savings account when I am short. One of the mse lessons I am trying to learn! DH wage gets paid into the bank but it works really well for us and my budget. Prior to having children when I worked full-time my salary covered all our bills and Dh's paid for food and fun - how much money we wasted back in those days and still ended up in debt :eek::eek:
Lovely day here - 2 loads of washing on the lines already! X0 -
Good morning Tea
Hope you have a lovely day
