The Prepping Thread - A Newer Beginning ;)

Worryingly, I hear a lot of people who are convincing themselves that they probably had it when someone else in the household had it even though they were symptomatic. Also any sore throat, temperature or cough is automatically assumed to be mild Covid - even infections going back to December last year.I don’t trust the testing, or could it be that more people have had the virus than we realise and are immune for the time being?16

It's a struggle to get an online delivery again but thanks to this thread and a couple of prepping groups I'm on I feel reasonably prepared. Need to get feed for the ducks and chickens this week as we're down to two weeks stock, otherwise we should be good until the new year and beyond if that's how long this lockdown lasts.
I have a pretty small family and we will miss two major birthdays before the end of the year which I hate but it could be so much worse I shouldn't complain. Managed to see all my family over the last month as we could see where this was heading so made sure to get time with them first.
Lit the log burner last night for the first time since last winter, we had to have it removed and reinstalled so good to know everything is okay with it. Our living room is large enough we could camp out in there if we lost heating for any reason and the wood burner does a great job of heating the room.14 -
wondercollie said:There are so many rumours out there about COVID and unfortunately there has to be some truth behind some of them. How does that work? Can you help me understand why there "has to be" some truth in them? I can't see any logic whatsoever in that statement. All I see is the classic "argument" always used by conspiracy theorists to get you started thinking their way ...We're all doomed14

When we first reopened church, a visitor complained about the doors and windows that were open for ventilation. She said the virus likes the cold!2025 Fashion on the ration

Our church was freezing last Sunday. It's an enormous building and not warm at the best of times. We've only been going once a month when it's DHs to read the lesson.I bought some thermal insoles for my boots as my feet were really cold and now the churches are going to shut!13

Earlier in the thread there was a discussion around the multi tools you can keep in cars, just seen this offer on Amazon:

CCW007 - Thanks for that. Just bought two for stocking fillers.
Daz - look after yourself.
Just starting to feel like myself again and feeling prepped. We had to move 18 months ago and have a larger garden again so Mr D ordered a new chicken coop for me yesterday. I'm getting quite excited about choosing three new "girls".
I was in intensive care before we moved and it's not a place I'd put myself at risk of going back to! Mask firmly on whenever I leave the house! Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Well, social distanced first aid training is different! Lots of giggles as you have to talk to yourself, and do it on yourself, or talk to a dummy, instead of practising with another person! But it gets the info in, that's the main thing. Bought a first aid kit from them, so can be fully prepared with ease, in a nice grab and go bag. Plus, it offers them a bit of support during difficult times.

Right,so there's no need for a lockdown then, everyone who has it hasn't had it, it doesn't exist, it's no worse than flu, etc etc.Can I ask then, if people believe there's no need for a lockdown, why do you think the government is doing it? What's the end goal of it?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10
