can you think of anything else I could do to lessen my risks? I live alone so will strip off the minute I get in the door lolOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,12015 -
Well lockdown for England no surprise there.
As for what will happen during or after , the simple answer is no one knows!
There has always been a spectrum of reaction and behaviour from those who have hardly stepped foot out the door since March to those who have carried on regardless and ignored all the guidance as if it does not involve them.
The governments are "making it up as they go along" as they have never been in this situation before and things are changing at an exponential rate. I for one would not want to be in their position trying to balance public health protection against trying to keep the economy going for when we eventually start to come out of these mad times.
We live on a farm so have no choice but to continue to plan the business, lambs will have to be born next Spring so the tups go in to the ewes now. If we will have a market for the lambs is anyone's guess with Brexit and Covid, but we can not just not produce them.
We also run a groundworks company and a property developing company. Do we continue to invest in new machinery or diggers? DO we continue with planning applications to build houses next year? God knows!! and he is not letting on!!!!
All we can do is try to keep the businesses going, continue to plan for a uncertain future, and try and stay safe in the mean time. Whether others party all December, hunker down in hibernation, or try to carry on as much as possible is up to them as it has been through out the whole of the pandemic.

I can see it being a lockdown of more than 4 weeks as he has done nothing to the age group where the most cases are, the university students. They have demonstrated their lack of respect for rules and will continue to do so. Students have been put before the economy. The only students who need to be at university are those who do practical hands on courses the the country needs like doctors, scientists, etc. All other courses can be done online at home. Studies can also be at a later date.
You don't have to spend 3 years at university to get a degree. Ask any student who has done the open university or part time studies whilst working. As a former Human Resources person the qualities these people offered were far superior to the 21 year old straight out of university who thought the world owed them a nice, comfortable well paid job. I lost count of the number I interviewed who had this attitude. The one degree none of them had, was a degree in common sense.
Think I had better get my tin hat on as I don't think my view will be popular. I live in a road with a secondary school and none of the pupils have any clue about social distancing as they leave school and no respect for the residents of that road. I am not surprised that incidence of cases are also high among secondary pupils given what I have seen.

Helebore said:Cornish chick, if you are going to work in a home find out if you will need to change your clothes once you get there. Or do you have a uniform etc?! Also if they supply aprons etc, obviously they are too expensive to buy yourself. Bottled water for when there or even in car or whatever you drink. I take loo roll, you can never be sure what's in place for you until you get there! Pain meds again just in case you have a headache, not everywhere will give you anything. I would also take wet wipes of some type. Good luck! I'm with you on the awful 12 hour days.Instead of carrying toilet roll I buy the packets of 10 or 12 small packets of tissues and keep one of those in my bag, also a few wet wipes and some Steriwipes.I got the early bus into town and was in Tesco’s at 9:30 to get a dozen bits I had on my list. Unfortunately I had to wait till 10 to get a mobility scooter and it started filling up pretty steadily. I was glad I had my list 😃 It definitely looked like people were stocking up. I was glad to be out of there quickly and I’m sure I can manage and substitute anything I haven’t got. 😃
I bagged a bargain – I got a couple of nice boxes of biscuits for my two neighbours but the first box I picked up, foxes, was double the size of all the rest which were priced at £3. When I went to the checkout I asked for a price check and it came back at the same price even though it was over 500 g and the others were 280g 😃14 -
thank you all for your tips and wishes of luck, I have added the question of uniform and to double-check on their covid policy when I do my induction on Tuesday.
I've restarted taking my Vit D supplements, something I do most winters and from scientific reports, I have read seem even more important now.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

As regards folk (of any age) not complying with distancing, masks and whatnot, surely the solution's obvious? The virus is spread by close contact between people. Anybody who is incapable of understanding that simple fact ought not to be allowed out on their own. Anyone who understands the concept but feels that it doesn't apply to them should understand that when they need the NHS to sort them out, they'll be right at the back of a very long queue. We're all doomed15

Si_Clist unfortunately in my experience there are whole families that won’t wear masks and social distance, let their kids roam around the shop and both adults and children touch everything in sight and then take offence and abuse any staff that have the sheer audacity to say anything to them. Apparently we’re being rude !!!!

Cuddlymarm my DD1, who works in a supermarket, will confirm everything you said. And we've just had to let our last chance to see our boys before lockdown go, as she's gone down with a cold this weekend, poor lass. The whole thing has been totally disheartening for her; people make it obvious that shop staff are beneath their consideration all the time & will conspicuously avoid other customers, but swear at & actually manhandle staff that are getting in their way by re-stocking shelves, mopping up spills or helping other customers! Her view of human nature couldn't be more bleak by now, sadly.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)14

And that, @cuddlymarm is one of several reasons why the local pharmacy is the only shop that either The Lady Wife or I have been in since March 20th.Anyhow, I need to go and have a good think about things now that an acquaintance has explained to me what this Covid thing is really all about. Apparently it's all to do with 5G phone signals. And how does he know this? First off, there was no Covid before there was 5G. But if that didn't prove it, he knows a very sensible woman who's seen a BT engineer go up a 5G mast wearing a spacesuit. So it's obvious, innit? 5G causes Covid.I did ask if the effect is reversible i.e. if we do away with 5G will Covid disappear, but he's not sure. I also asked who the woman is who saw the BT bloke in his spacesuit, and it eventually became obvious that it's somebody in a Facebook group he's in.I rather fear that I might have offended him by saying that I think he's crackers. We're all doomed23
