It's depressing. I try not to think about it too much. The conspiracies are so easily disproven, but in my experience they simply don't want to hear it. I think it honestly makes some people feel better to believe a conspiracy, as it's less scary. 🤷♀️
Sorry to hear of those in retail having to put up with such awful behaviour. I'm not surprised (sadly), but I am disgusted by such behaviour.
DD back to school tomorrow, and I have a first aid course for next 2 days. For an office that I won't be going into 🙄 still, work has already paid for it, and it's still going ahead as far as I know, so I have to go. After that, staying at home other than DD going to school. I envisage lots of walks, bike rides etc at weekends to keep her entertained. Luckily have full waterproofs for us all, so can go out all weathers. Potatoes almost ready in garden, so probably dig up at weekend if it's not terrible weather.
And, my brother now awaiting results of a test. Cases at his school kept rising, and the most recent cases he had worked closely with and then had symptoms. So keeping fingers crossed for him. The school is on the verge of closing as now only just about have enough staff who aren't sick or isolating 🙄

@Si_Clist - hopefully you can offer your acquaintance a bespoke tinfoil hat to protect against 5G. Ironically 5G and stuff like Elon Musk's starlink project are what have enabled us to send so many people home to work. Without them, we wouldn't have had the network capacity for it, and more jobs would have been lost.18

I think 12 hour shifts for healthcare workers and police are inhumane. I've done them and vowed never to do them again. I cuts down on the number of units that I can work on but hopefully, I'm staying where I am until I retire. When you work those shifts full time you are constantly exhausted.
There are so many rumours out there about COVID and unfortunately there has to be some truth behind some of them. National economies are being destroyed, yet China seems to flourish. Healthcare and service works are deemed disposable and are required to continue working. Teachers in my province are claiming to be stressed to the max by having to deal with one class room of children. Has anyone spared a thought for anyone else? I see upwards of 150 patients a week, nobody has asked about my stress level. My provincial government had decided to contract out 11000 jobs and start attempting to privatize healthcare. But hey, when we get laid off and the hospitals are private, do people really thing they will be able to afford hospital care? Medical bills are the primary cause of bankruptcy in the US.

I've just regained some freedom after 8 years looking after parents. So what have they done? They've locked me down!! I probably won't notice any difference.
I agree this could well be the SHTF moment we have prepped for. I think the next few months are going to be horrible in lots of ways. I'm hoping things will improve by spring and have pots planted with bright orange tulips to cheer in spring.
At least thanks to being on here, we are all able to make a decent meal out of very little if things get tough.18
