Just stock. It's actually made by simmering kombu seaweed (the type that's a great source of natural MSG) and chucking in dried Bonito flakes. But for most of us heathens, a plain old chicken stock cube works fine.
Heat up stock/boil water and chuck cube in, stir and take off heat. (simmer mushrooms, add chilli, etc, if you wish, before this point) Gradually melt a blob of Miso paste into the now not boiling water. Chuck in sliced spring onion, frozen edamame beans, frozen peas, halved cherry tomatoes, etc. It goes well with salmon or prawns.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll15 -
Just caught up loads of pages
You're going for overkill on the shopping - when you get a delivery just put on gloves and unpack the shopping, put it away. Then take off the gloves. And leave the shopping in the cupboard or fridge for a few days so any virus dies off. Same with opening the coalhouse pineapple - put gloves on to do it then take them off. I mean obv disposable plastic ones.
I can't get an online slot with Sainsbugs or Morrisons for the entire 3 weeks either, we'll just eat from the stash.10 -
I saw the videos this morning of the military convoy in Italy moving coffins from Bergamo where the crematorium is overwhelmed. Anyone who doesn't understand the importance of stopping this thing needs to be forced to watch it on repeat.

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?8 -
I have friends in Italy and read the Italian newspapers, so have an idea where it's all going. Tonight I did an online lesson to a student in Milan I hadn't taught for ages so it was very enlightening. They're holed up in a nice flat with a large roof terrace, so at least can get fresh air. Even though they're _very_ well off I've reduced my hourly rate in solidarity for the duration of the lock in.Walking the dog is an excuse to go out, so Italian dogs are now all exhausted with being borrowed by all the neighbours! In more prepping news I noticed a small bag of spinach pasta in the back of a cupboard, result! I really need to do a stock take, but things are OK as I tend to keep a good store cupboard; 4 kilos of carnaroli rice from my last Italian trip, for example.14

I made gf laugh this week, because we were talking about various countries closing their borders. I think Poland was the first. I said, 'I bet they'd soon get a few German tanks through'.'You can't say that J,' she said. She's more PC than me.10

Is there any canny way of making a bed (sheets & duvet, but blankets available) so that it's more comfortable for someone with a fever? Anything under the bottom sheet? M'mother in law remembers being imminently due but not contracting & making up the bed with the usual blanket & sheet then a tarp, then another blanket & sheet. She went into labour, had the baby (my sister in law) in the bed & then the midwife stripped the top layer & tarp off & settled her comfortably back in her own clean familiar bed. (My eyes always cross, both at a home delivery & who washed the blanket let alone the sheet...)
I was thinking is an underblanket cooling? Or not? I do not fancy trying to sleep on a tarp, but the layers idea seems nice unless it doesn't strip cool & dry.8 -

<Ponders blanket stash, thoughtfully.> If I have to lug an overheating son into the shower, I will. Husband will get strategically applied cold flannels. Don't really want to speculate what they'd do for/to/with me.9
