Yup Mrs Un is a big miso fan, I thought I'd try this and avoids running down her stock of vegan fare
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?8 -
I have to vent!!
My stupid step mother is insisting on carrying on as normal, shopping every day (shes addicted), visiting friends and family, attending the leisure centre, gym, cafes etc and then coming home and almost refusing to wash her hands!! Literally a cursory rinse under the tap whilst berating the fact that the world is mad and it is not going to be as bad as everyone keeps saying!! She is in her early 70's and relatively fit and healthy where as my father is in his late 70's, diabetic, has had a heart attack and currently is on his third round of antibiotics for an infection the doctors can not seem to get under control. My father spent his later career developing medical plastics and understands the process of infection better than most people. This has caused rows and arguments with her then storming out to do whatever she does all day, literally the above everyday all day! They are always travelling either abroad or in their motor home and are very rarely home for more than a week or two. This is their hobby and as a result neither have home based hobbies that will keep them occupied. I am really at my wits end trying to get her to see that she is being selfish and putting my dad and herself at risk but she refuses to see it. Dad called her an ostrich who would only see sense when something very serious happened, hopefully not my dad getting the virus and dying!
Rant over! I just had to let it out somewhere where people understand and are actually taking it seriously! Thank you LOL

Oh dear, Elaine. That's not going to end well, is it. Some people simply won't see what's staring them in the face, despite all the evidence. Then after the fact they'll be wailing and cursing, saying 'why didn't you stop me?' There's not a lot you can do apart from explain the facts, and if that fails, hope and pray neither of them get ill, or if they do, it's a mild case. DP's mum is still going out and about. I don't know if she'll restrain that come the weekend but I've a feeling she won't.

I’m so tired from having to go out shopping yesterday, that I have no choice but to curl up on the sofa today out of germ’s way!My entire family are distancing as much as they can.10

Wonderful quote here from French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner talking about the 4,095 fines that have been handed out so far to folks ignoring the French lockdown ...
"Some people think they're some kind of modern-day hero when they break the rules - but they're imbeciles, and a danger to themselvesOh if only there was a way of getting that message through to the morons in this country who are still talking about nothing stopping them going out, lock-ins in the pubs and so on ...
ETA - Ah. I must just point out that I posted this before I'd read poor Elaine's post above, in response to which I can only say that if life has taught me anything, it's that there is nothing whatsoever you can do with people like her stepmother. Trying is a total waste of time and mental energy. All you can do is let them get on with it ...

There comes a point so urgent and immediate when you have to recognise that you can only live your own life, you can't live other peoples no matter how desperately you want to. It's pure unadulterated anguish to accept that all you can do is to protect you and those in your family who perceive the same reasoning behind life decisions made as you do yourself. You love them, you want to keep them safe, BUT you don't own them, they own themselves and sometimes no matter the longing to do so you have to let them go their own way regardless of where the path they chose to follow will take them. It's an impossibly hard action to step back but for your own sanity and wellbeing it has to be done xxx.13

An otherwise sound and sensible friend has been posting jokey things on Facebook asking to keep pubs open and suggesting secret lock ins! Some folks in the local market town wouldn't hesitate and don't need ideas putting in their heads.... They are welcome to their lock ins and their petris dish of virus germs but the problem is they will then go their separate ways and infect everyone else.

The charity shop that I work in is closing until things are back to normal. I shall feel lost. I'm well under 70 and in good health but don't drive so can't volunteer to shop for the housebound. We live a mile from the nearest shop.It seems Tesco are limiting items to three per person. The woman in front of me had a bunch of six bananas. The cashier split it in half. I was a bit worried as to whether she'd split my bag of sprouts.11
