MrsLurcherwalker said:I, for the first time this morning, had the thought that this social distancing we're doing isn't so much a cage of restriction as a safe haven, it's made a great deal of difference to my mood and emotions. We are waiting for the workmen to arrive to finish the job they started yesterday and then I shall bleach clean the entire area and anti viral wipe ann the surfaces they're likely to have been in contact with. We will steam mop the tiled floors as much to pick up the brick dust as to kill germs, we will probably have to do that a few times for a clean result. We walked as it got dark last night to our allotment and picked some rhubarb, then dropped enough for a couple of meals to our friend who has leukaemia and is on shut in, left it on the front doorstep and texted her it was there as she's already missing fresh food. We hope to be able to continue our safe walks out but time will tell if we are able to.
I'm seeing my home as a citadel today not the Bastille! much better place in my head!
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?11 -

My local shops are also frequented by a lot of people who have issues - addiction, mental health and other reasons that make them vulnerable. I'm not sure that some of them have the means or the ability to cook. If the bakery chain is closed or the takeaway, pot noodle might be their limit. Increasingly worried about these people at the moment.
I've made another cash donation to the local food bank but I know they're having trouble sourcing food. The germ factory I work at is in a completely different area but there are many there whose families rely on it.
I'm still not completely well but am now getting worried about being off ill when everything shuts down/work from home begins. Mostly for reasons of being able to offer continuity of service if I don't know what's going on but have some financial concerns that are minimal compared with those a lot of others will have today. Recent purchase has taken up most of my savings and EF is much lower than usual. I am the only adult in the family with a job and I'd normally be a buffer for unexpected expenses.

Here's something I've noticed recently, that I presume is nothing to do with Coronavirus:Have you guys noticed how many adverts there are now for 'Lifetime Mortgages'? (Equity release.)Maybe I'm seeing them because I just passed the age to qualify for one, but I think this may be a mis-selling scandal in years to come. There have already been some in years gone by, but usually the customers are dead, and it's only the heirs who are left with buttons.11

dandy-candy said:My DS2 is still in his room he rents near his uni. The uni has shut, he lives alone, and hasnt much food. I said i would pick him up tomorrow and all his belongings as he is finished now. He said not to because he can’t be bothered to get ready at such short notice. I explained that if they have a full strict lockdown i might not be able to come later. He says he will cope. DH attitude is “He’s an adult, its his problem” It breaks my heart when DH says stuff like this. Yes DS2 is 22 but as his mum I want to be able to nurse and feed him if he gets ill. Imperial college have said this is going to be as bad as the 1918 Spanish flu. I hate that I can't give them all a great big kick up the backside and get them to take proper care of themselves11

The Spanish government said walking dogs was one of those errands, but some people are reportedly taking advantage of the exception – taking lengthy strolls, socialising in public or masquerading stuffed animals as real pets.
A video shared by Jupol, a Spanish police union, on Twitter appears to show a man walking through the street with a toy dog on a leash as a police car pulls up alongside him.
In the tweet, Jupol warned people they could be punished if they try to deceive the police.

Si_Clist said:Anybody know what's going on with Tesco online ordering? I went on the site last night, got a slot booked no problem, but just about everything I was going to order is "not available". OK ... I'm fine with stuff being out of stock now, but I don't want it now - I want it next week! I don't get why I can't just place the order now and hope it's in stock next week, which after all is pretty much how things were before all this virus lark ...
I've the same issue. My delivery is for the 1st April but I will go back into my order the day before and check whether the items are back in stock and amend my order if they are.

My husband has had the same at his work mummygems - it is absolutely shocking how they are being treated. Me and the kids are now isolating with suspicious symptoms.10
