Could stuff like bog rolls and rubbish bags etc go in the summerhouse and leave space in the house for the tins?

I'd be cautious with the bog roll - I stored some in our garage, and within weeks the mice had taken up residence.... 🤭Angie - GC Sept 25: £311.65/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11

Here's an odd one:Today I visited one of my rental flats to replace the electric shower. My tenant is on holiday, so she said I could let myself in. When I arrived, I opened the electric cupboard, and turned off the big red 'shower' switch, so I would be okay working on it.I got the unit removed from the wall, and something made me put my voltmeter across the wires, just to check the power was definitely off. It read 242 volts!Checking in the cupboard, that switch had been turned back on again!Flaming gremlins are trying to kill me!10

MrsLurcherwalker said:Type your comment Prepping is a way of life and has been since the 1970s it's just something I've always done and probably always will because it makes me feel safer.
its just about feeling comfortable isn’t it, everyone is different , everyone has different levels of being prepared and what makes them feel organised and ready for things that life throws at you, be it life skills or just temporary stuff to have in the house.I am constantly striving to be more organised and ready for any event.....in a good way I mean.I have gained so much from this thread over the years and always come back to it even if just to read the latest thoughts on how things are going and new things to think about. It’s the oracle of realistic prepping, not the extreme.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.12 -
This mornings news says that the coronavirus is no longer considered just for China but is now out and about in the world as a whole. Few cases as yet BUT if it does become problematic and the advice IS to stay in for a couple of weeks it's a real comfort to know we can do so without having to make any further trips out as we have all we need including our medications. We have been requesting meds a couple of days earlier every month for the past few months and are beginning to have almost a spare months worth in hand which is precisely to cover a period of withdrawal from the world for just such a scenario as presents itself with coronavirus. I hope very much that this is just not going to happen but I've found over the years that 'hope' is a most unreliable thing to put your trust in hence I am a prepper!13

No idea what I’m doing. Having to post from my phone. I can’t get into the forums from my iPad any more. Why?? Although for a while I was getting an email (showing up on the iPad) for every single post. I used to just get one email a day for each subscription. I managed to get in on my rarely used laptop and turned off notifications as I couldn’t work out how to do it on the phone. Wondering whether my preps should include replacing the ancient (7 or 8 years old) iPad. This is just the latest thing not to work on it. I was furious when the BBC replaced iTunes with BBC Sounds as the iPad refuses to have anything to do with that. In other news, the out of date yeast made a perfectly acceptable loaf. I may be eating better in isolation than I do normally because I’m actively focusing on eating a balanced, healthy diet. The main issue is psychological. I’m so bored!11

It's probably the new forum set up which happened a couple of days ago, I had to ask a friend for 'how to' before it would let me in and I had to log in (already re-registered as they asked us to a while ago) before it would let me post but all seems OK now, I don't find the colours hurt my eyes like the first re-jig of the forums did, much more subtle and a grey background helps too. I'd consider a new ipad if it's affordable on your budget but techy things are constantly being updated and changed so it might just be you need some help getting in to the new format. Glad you're bearing up under the strain, boredom is a factor in all enforced 'time outs' and I've got some charity shop books and jigsaws in my stash that haven't been looked at to help alleviate the tedium of being stuck in with no external contacts. We also have skype so would be able to talk fact to fact to the family which would help I think. How much longer do you have to go in your 2 week period?9

It’s not that I don’t have things to do or plenty to read; more the human tendency to want what I can’t have. There are many worse things than boredom and I’ll be free on Friday.12

Well done Airthrey, if everyone takes your approach this thing should do far less damage. The thing that worries me is that once it starts spreading people won't necessarily know if they have been in contact with someone who has it.
I am always pretty well stocked up as I am a natural hoarder but I have done my coronavirus stock up shop today! The woman at the till looked at me like I was mental with all my tins and dried foods. For me its just about being ready just in case. I would hate to get it and then pass it on to someone vulnerable.
I am not sure I have faith in the masses to have the same approach though. You see all the time kids going into school sick because their parents don't want to take time off work. People will balance the risks against the general pressures of life to get things done.11
