Don't jump hurdles until you come to them BUT make sure you have all the information available, have taken every precaution you can take and keep you and yours as far out of the firing line as it's possible to do and still live day to day. It's all anyone CAN do and if having been as prepared and sensible as that you still are unfortunate enough to contract this virus I pray that it is a very mild dose and a full recovery follows as speedily as is possible. In the meantime don't let the media scare you silly with 'perhapses' and 'possibles' as I don't think anyone from any organisation actually has the whole picture and all the facts. Keep on vigilant living and we'll all hope for the best.13

baggins11 said:Quite right DFV and people shouldn't worry unnecessarily but I just hope people take it seriously and try not to spread it. It is all about trying not to spread it to the vulnerable.
It said in the news yesterday that it could hit 60% of the population. I think it said flu usually hits 11% so it might become much wider spread than regular flu. So if I understand the figures correctly 2% of 60% uk population is a lot of peoples loved ones. But I don't want to sound doom and gloom as it's not at that stage yet - they still say they can potentially contain it.800K deaths based of 66m. If its 2%.Normal Flu in England....586 patients hospitalised by flu in England. 174 patients admitted to intensive care with flu, bringing the total in 2019 to 2,092. Eight deaths in which flu was a contributing factor, bringing the total since September 30 to 23. 155 new outbreaks of lung-borne illnesses suspected to be flu.Dec 19, 2019If it became that wide spread would it come back every year like normal flu?

Hello my luverlies I'm back! The password reset email just wasn't making it to my mail but MSE has sorted it. Epic prepping failure here. Following storm damage to the mains, our water has been off since yesterday. If I'd had a container, I could at least have got water from the river for the loo. And if I'd had some drinking water stashed, I wouldn't have had to go into town where they are distributing (rationed) bottled water. I'm immune compromised and have been trying to keep up with the handwashing but it's been difficult!

Well, my daughter developed mild cold symptoms a couple of days ago, 11 days into her isolation period, and today phoned her GP. She is to be tested by the Infectious Diseases department and is not to leave the house until they have the results. I’m fretting...12

Oh dear such a worrying situation for you but hopefully it will just be a cold and nothing else, please stay in touch and let us know how things pan out and know we're here to share the burden, will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, stay strong lovey xxx.11

Thanks Mrs LW. Waiting is the worst and there’s nothing I can do. I just don’t see how she managed to catch an ordinary cold. She hasn’t been near anyone but her partner since they got home from China, and he’s fine.11

Just did a quick search online for the incubation period for the common cold and it can be anything from 2 days to 2 weeks depending on the virus and aeorplanes with their sealed air conditioning are little hot houses of infection if anyone has a cold, I'm assuming she flew home? so it might actually be a cold, hope that helps just a tiny bit xxx.11

Thanks for that. I’ve just always assumed it’s 3 or 4days She’s being tested tomorrow morning and they’re doing her partner as well.11
