Oh and I resisted the urge to buy baby bee a bundle of toys on eBay (my bad habit to give up is buying her clothes on eBay which I'm still winning at). Hardly looked at phone except for taking photos, sending photos, chatting to a friend and coming on here.0

Good Morning!
Today is the first day of the last week of school.
Tomorrow is the last date for posting things to Ireland with guaranteed delivery before Xmas.
I am having small flurries of fa la la la la! but no real festive spirit yet. Maybe it will come once the school run gets binned on Friday.
Hugs to all that are poorly, DH is fighting something off, no real symptoms, just achey, an intermittent sore throat, and a dodgy tummy. Nothing big enough to take the day off, or know how to dose.
So my sympathies to all who are feeling rotten.
Might go and buy some crackers today and hit the c/s's, haven't been for weeks. I have my list, and feel the need for more twinkly lights and mirrors. And just to be out of the house....4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Grateful for;
- A good night sleep
- My pet goldfish for always looking to happy
- My step-dad for making my mum happy
- My xbox, for keeping me company down in Manchester0 -
Toni'sFriend - sorry to hear about your holiday.
Lavender - get well soon.
Plenty of candles lit here last night and this morning. Our power went off at 7pm last night, just ours, DH checked the fusebox which was OK, the electric meter was off though so we had no power to the house at all. Phoned the grid people, someone came out but our fuse box that connects to the electricity supply is 80+ years old and he couldn't do anything (our actual fusebox is modern). Anyway a team came at 8am, I've had to take a day off work for which I don't get paid, we were back up and running by 11am but with a huge hole in the driveway.
Am making best use of my day off and have done quite a lot of cleaning, had an early lunch, will walk the dog soon then some more cleaning then the school run.
Paid for bus fares today and £1 each for Christmas jumper day, they do it today to coincide with their school fair.
Yesterday I made bread rolls, spicy thai carott and sweet potato soup and chickpea curry. I've had one portion of soup for lunch plus 3/4 in the freezer (luckily everything stayed frozen), portion of curry to take to work tomorrow.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I've done all the Boy's washing. Getting everything dry in this weather is a bit of a nightmare but we'll manage. Made stock from yesterday's chicken and turned it in to lentil soup which we'll have for dinner in a little bit and used some of the leftover chicken for toasted sandwiches for lunch.
I think I'm fairly well organised for Christmas but the house could do with a good tidy and clean. Need to deliver some things to my cousin which I'll do later this week and deliver the neighbour's Christmas cards. I've posted the rest but isn't postage so expensive now?
Sitting here at the moment catching up on some TV programmes that I missed whilst I was away.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Today I am grateful for being able to go to dd's carol service in a nearby (mentioned in the domesday book) church, for getting lots of walking done, for a friend coming here and taking away a bag of clothes, for good coffee, for my freestyle hat-with-flaps knitting actually working, for finding a radio times, for a good physio, for being able to do some workouts again, for dd having just 4 more get-ups.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Was a spend day. Had to do a little top up food shop.
Walked through park to put in a repeat prescription in gp.
Not too much time on computer, mobile and no computer games.
Self care.
Issues with the laptop battery again. Hopefully it will sort itself out.
Grateful for:
Sister texted me to say that she and couple of her children are coming down on Sunday to see me. Will stay for a few hours.
Niece got conditional offer for her PGCE teacher training.
Got temp job starting tomorrow for rest of week and it is local.

Evening everyone :hello:
Ended up being a spendy day today (unintentionally). The police had suggested that I get my outside light fixed, so I asked the usual man to have a look and he fixed it for a tenner. Although it wasn't planned for today, I feel safer knowing that it's fixed and that I've followed the advice from the police.
Christmas is definitely ready. I have done all shopping, and just have an order to pick up on Sunday plus I'm going to attempt one more handmade item. No more gifts to buy and no more stressing that I haven't done enough. I just want to get on and survive the week now.
Today I am grateful for:
Getting through a full teaching day with only one very unpleasant lesson.
My handyman that fixed the outside light for me.
My excellent Year 10 class
Good friendsNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Posted quickly yesterday and was just in time as my laptop failed shortly afterwards - the wires connecting the charger to the laptop are broken. My new one had been delivered and I had DS3's old one but no code and it kept saying there were no connections available.
Yes, we had a meal in Southport. I had suggested going to the Dolphin which is good, cheap and seriously busy in summer. It was closed but we went into a place nearer to Lord Street (facing the side of the Scarsbrick) and the food was gorgeous. We had hot chocolate, home made soup and a meal. Cakes were gorgeous too but we were stuffed. There is a time for breaking turtle rules and we could have got hypothermia trying to eat sandwiches. Only once before seen Southport so wild.
Went to Formby in summer 1985 and there were loads of squirrels. There was a squirrel 'flu' epidemic a couple of years ago that did serious damage but I read a report last year and the red squirrels came through much better than the grey ones - they even had some that they knew had had the flu and survived (just a bit battered) when many had died.
Very tired today (2 sleeps yesterday evening which is why I was awake at 4am) and have done lots of dozing. I am giving my ankles and arm time to recover.
I have tottered downstairs from time to time and have unpacked the fridge-freezer and set it going, done several loads of washing and dried them on the radiator and airer, went out to do a little shopping (dishwasher salt and tablets + some random items mum requested) and finally have installed the dishwasher and set it off.
The last was a joint effort but mostly me. They hadn't done it because they didn't know where the water outlet was (under the sink?). DS3 did one little bit about 5 hours after I'd told him where to look (he put one of the pipes through the hole between two cabinets) and then said that someone else should take over. The visitor and I found the instructions and some other bits, connected one end but although I managed the other connection beautifully the hose was twisted because of the tight angles involved. We made an attempt to increase the size of the hole but it would have taken ages.
Took a break to think it through (I'd already been on my knees and on the floor in a very tight space between the sink door, a chair and the dw - pulled out while we were mauling with cables behind it) as I needed to rest. Phoned DS2 and he came round 10 minutes later and we did it in ten minutes (tall, slim, long arms and very bendy - everything I am not). I had all the bits ready before he asked for them and had de gunged the u bend and the extra bit the dw outlet went to. Beloved and I filled it, nothing happened - had to pull it out and switch the plug on (I had reminded DS2 to turn the water on once the hoses were connected. So that's working away and I've put another load in the washer.
Need to buy new support bandages and crepe bandages for over the top.
Only did a small shop this afternoon and my ankle was nagging all the way home.
Today I am grateful for the dishwasher and fridge freezer, for helpful people who work things out with me, for all the benches dotted around the town centre, for the library, for nearly being done with the chores (kitchen still looks appalling but it's mainly stuff they put to one side to clear a path for the new deliveries.
