Okay I.m taking the Christmas hit for all of you - that's when life throws the spanner in. Awake at 5am, soon became obvious that walking anywhere was going to be problematic so had the sit on a stool in the bath shower, dressed and got a taxi to the doctor's.

Could see my favourite doctor but there were six people in front of me. Good job I took my book and water. Explained that, due to old injuries, I am adept at strapping my ankles up but that after the general swelling on both ankles went down I still had one puffy lump in front of the left ankle bone.

Given form for x-ray, repeat prescription, blood tests (although he said all my results were great last time) and made an appointment for January to review meds. Hobbled to x-ray and queued, had to stop and lean on the corridor wall between x-ray and the vampires, luckily they had no-one waiting (or I would have gone for food first), bought food and ate some, then waited for prescription (and bought 2 new support bandages and 2 new crepe bandages).

Finally got taxi to mum's arriving about 1.30pm (I missed Harvey, had hoped to get there in time to watch it). However I already had everything except the ankle on my to do list so it's all done now. Have to phone on Monday for results.

Not done a lot at mum's. Had a wee nap mid-afternoon which helped a lot, currently wearing support bandages on both ankles and a crepe bandage on top on the left ankle (will take them off at bedtime).

Food I had ordered came at 7pm. Mum's fridge and freezer are now full, tiny turkey crown is in the fridge defrosting (I will cook it on Friday then slice and put away). Spare milk hiding behind the bins, emergency milk (1pt cartons) in small spaces in the freezer.

Taxi home. Not put bins out (only paper and green waste). Some progress here, dishwasher has been loaded a second time but the clothes on the radiator haven't been swapped over. Need to look through my list and work out how/ if the remaining things can be accomplished (sit in middle of kitchen issuing orders? no way to get them back if they walk off?)

I have promised that one way or another we are going to get the trees out of mum's attic and decorate them.

Just going to relax for now - may roll quilt into a big swiss roll and prop my ankles on it.
    .
Today I am grateful for the nhs, for (mostly) knowing what to do, for lovely bacon barm cakes from the WRVS, for rest, for a good book, for having enough.

  • Congrats Kerrywoman on temp role.:T

Although all preparations for Xmas have been completed for some time and within budget, the busyness of it all has broken my MSE focus and routines. However, tonight I took time to catch up on it all so I feel more organised (including paying £100 speeding fine (the first fine in a very long time)!

4 Gratitudes: Clicking with new joiner at work, my two adorable pooches (who smell considerably better today than they did yesterday), for the opportunity to rescue two beautiful hens and for the delicious eggs they lay almost every day and for the lovely hamper and personalised gifts received today.

    1,000 day goals:
    Still a work in progress....
Crazy sports challenge Oct 19 (booked, partly prompted by this forum!)
Set up pension (as advised by a 72 year old receptionist at work!).
    IO BTL1 Mortgage was £97,693.54 on 09/08/18; £83,140 on 31/12/19.:D
    Sealed Pot Challenge 12: #078: £150.36
    Save £12k in 2020;
  • Back after a 4 day trip. Lots of spending but just about balancing YNAB ok. A bit too much stealing from other pots though.

Grateful for homemade Xmas cupcake by a lovely male colleague, a seat on the tube on the way in to work, yummy Cottage Pie and not having spoilers before I got to watch the Strictly Final.

My phone screentime report went from about an hour and a half a day to 49 minutes. I am getting more used to not using it in queues etc and it’s a big, nice change. So glad I tried it.

Trying not to worry about Xmas shopping, card writing etc. Feeling behind.

    Good Morning!
Feeling a bit more fala la la la, had a small mug of mulled wine last night and lay on the sofa with a numb face. I am such a cheap night out/in! think it was my first drink since Easter - from lack of opportunity rather than lack of inclination.

    Gratitudes:

No more after school clubs this year
Being able to hoover the kids bedrooms as they are no longer messy
Having a plan, even if it is a wobbly/fluid one
Starting to feel a bit giddy about Yule.

  • Morning everyone,

Through much resistance yesterday, I managed my NSD - 7/15. This bloody sugar addiction is no joke! No plans to spend today either.

    Grateful for;
    - Post men and women. They get a hard time in December but think about it, on the whole, they do an awesome job
    - Millionaires shortbread
    - When the scissors glide through wrapping paper
    - Blue milk

    Morning all.

Day off today, one child has been dropped at the bus stop and is safely at school, the washing has been put in the drier and the non drier items are on the airer, the dog has been walked and I plan to make a veggie spag bol before I take DD to the orthodontist. May run later if I get time.

I am resting as much as possible. I have done a few bin trips (multiple binbags lined up in the kitchen). Polystyrene from the appliances has been broken into lumps and is hiding under the garden table until I can feed it into mum's bin.

Have just had a sit down shower, hoping to hobble across to the library sometime. I have crossed hotwater bottles off my list, the third one will have to do (not buying a replacement).

I had been thinking I could do with some new sheets (a couple have ripped to shreds and my 'second best' ones are 15 years old and frequently needed for guests - one arrived, another expected). To avoid buying, I am going to cut bed length + a bit lengths off my roll of black out curtain lining. Should still be the right length when I eventually get round to putting them on their curtains.

I do have another food order expected tomorrow evening - only because I have it in my diary, can't remember what's on it apart from 7 large packs of loo roll.

Will concentrate on my immediate surroundings but have an idea what I want to tackle next time I manage to get down the stairs.

Today I am grateful for sleep, rest, the binmen, my dishwasher - still has novelty value, they're playing with it, painkillers, heat spray and bandages.

Mothernerd - Please take care of your health and try not to do too much.

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes. I had a lovely day,

So today I managed to do all the ironing, more washing and bits and pieces of cleaning. Delivered all the neighbours Christmas cards. Still using food from the freezer. Ticked a few things from to do list.

Really must get myself sorted out tomorrow and get a bit more organised.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
