Apart from £40 I am finished with the Xmas shopping, and have accidentally finished DS3 and DS4s birthday shopping too. So car insurances to bother with and then there is plenty of room for my savings plan ( aka the builder fund).

I have never noticed before, but I am being tainted by advertising.. I have the overwhelming urge to buy in booze, which is daft as we rarely drink! I thought I was immune to advertising but this is really annoying me. Don't get me wrong, I think the whole Saturnalia thing needs to be reintroduced, and the sun should always be welcomed in on the Solstice, I am not a kill joy. Still, I do not like the feeling of being manipulated.

Kids have asked not to have oranges in their stockings. I am tempted by pineapples instead. Any other suggestions?

Last full day of school for the big kids, two full days for the smalls (so unfair!). Good luck all you teacher-y types. The finish line is in sight.

Mothernerd - the nicest sheets I have I found in the c/s. They have obviously been in someone's bottom drawer for a long time. Really good quality. Will last forever.

Totally understand that you don't want conflict, but I really hope Santa brings you a cleaning rota or at least a cleared kitchen floor for Christmas. You deserve it.

You've managed 20 days of giving up that bad habit. And yes, you're going to keep not doing it until (at least) the end of the month please. I have been sorely tempted on a fair few occasions to play a certain game on my tablet, despite knowing how much of my time it drains out of me. The Borg say that 'resistance is futile'. Turtles know better than that.

As the final third of the month arrives, please do seriously look at your schedule, plans, hopes, expectations. Are they realistic? Are you beeing sucked in by advertising, as f0xh0les put it so well? Are you arranging things to please other people? Are they fun for you?

Speaky, the blue milk interests me! What's it about? :)

Ah yes, sorry. I'm meaning the colour of the lid. Full fat. Hate to rub it in, but it is the best!

Didn't manage a NSD as I had to buy milk for work, coincidentally. Nor will have one today as I need to buy lunch, much to my frustration. Stuck on 7/15

    Grateful for
    - My team not getting beat last night
    - My shower
    - The heating being on in work
    - My dishwasher.

DD got her braces off yesterday, the dentist was a bit peeved because there is still a minute gap between two teeth, the braces were supposed to come off 2 months ago but the gap was bigger so they made adjustments and we waited but I've had enough now, DD was happy with them too. The dentist is 12 miles from school, 7 miles from home and 2 miles from work so the travelling logistics are a pain plus everytime we go we have to wait 30-40 minutes past our appointment. That said we are back this afternoon for the retainers.

The hole in my driveway has been filled, concreted and the bollards removed so we can park in there now. Tesco will be bringing my groceries this morning - yay. I have stripped all the beds and the second load of washing is on, one bed is re-made and I will do the other two soon, then dog walking, groceries, lunch, cleaning (or running if it stops raining) then off to get DD.

Karmacat - I love crows too, I love all things gothic and they look so sinister sitting in the trees screeching.

Thank you for today's post apple. I was feeling a bit down as I am still in pain and looking rather despairingly at my list. I wanted to make a largish food bank donation of one of each of the cans I've bought in multiples but no way I can get there and not sure how enthusiastic they would be about it, even if I could give directions they will follow.

Will revert to putting something in the library box every time I go in (it's only a small box) and if I end up going to the SM (taxi there and back, possibly to buy a microwave - could cope without) will buy some for them. In the meantime, if any of you pass a collection point, could you just put one tin/ pack of biscuits in from me.

Think I have worked out how to get things out of mum's attic (need the ladders and we've lost the key to the shed). Think we could move a set of drawers and go from the small steps onto the drawers - really don't think I can do it. I'm hoping that I look so pathetic attempting it that someone else (Beloved / hairdresser) takes over. Back up plan is to use one of the walkers, go to the bottom of the street and chop a suitable branch down on the canal bank (technically stealing but if it's willow it's just maintenance.

Okay I have eaten, will go and have sit down shower. I am grateful for my injured ankle because it will help me prepare for the future and work out how to do what is important. Also highlights the need to keep everywhere clear so that I an walk about without falling over things. Thanks for your kind thoughts f0xh0les, floor is fairly clear but a lot of stuff has been piled on the kitchen table.

  • Hi All. Been thinking about the 1000 day challenge. My main focus will be health, specifically:

Eating more healthily - this will also mean being more organised.

Getting outside more - increasing a sense of adventure as I increase my walking distances to start including some hill-walking. I am currently very unfit with a sedentary job so this will be a work in progress.

Developing my spiritual life which at the moment is non-existent. This also helps my mental health.

Minimising time spent in front of the TV. This is something I struggle with but I really want to free up time to to other things on this list and spend time with friends/family.

Developing my creativity - I taught myself to crochet but now rarely use the skill so I'd like to do more crochet, drawing, gardening etc. These also help my mental health.

I am deliberately not focusing on weight loss (although I need to lose weight) but rather health and wellbeing. I will probably add to this once I've had another think about it and picked up some more ideas.

    Gratitude for today:
A fantastic night out with my 6yo niece last night.
A quiet day at work with staff lunch to look forward to.

    Hello Turtles

I am sorry I have been MIA for a while, have been stressed out as Christmas starts for me on Sunday when visitors arrive and work shuts down until the NY so everything has to be done by Friday lunch time!

I hope you are all well and hugs for anyone under the weather.

I must read back and learn more about the 1000 day challenge as apple had just introduced it last time I was on.

  • A spendy day today, lots of small bits that have been on the list for a month. Took baby bee into town in her pram for some exercise for me, filled the shopping basket under her carrycot, put things in her carrycot with her, and filled DH's cross-country skiing rucksack! Bought all the bedding needed to turn our spare room into a spare room rather than a dumping ground, toiletries that were running low, stationery items running low, DIY bits and a few missing groceries from Mr M's shopping emporium (nicked from foxholes). Also found baby bee a winter hat in her size on the sale rail, much needed, she'd outgrown her old one.

    Spends - groceries 9.94, baby 2.25, toiletries 8.34, household 45.55

    Gratitudes
    - for having a pram and rucksack (yes, I could've driven) to load myself up like a pack mule with. As I pushed everything, including myself, up the hill I felt grateful that I had the financial means to purchase what I had to make ourselves comfortable in a secure house, as well as the means to transport it. I thought of refugees who would be carrying everything, including baby, with no home and no hope of retrieving possessions, letting alone buying more at affordable prices
    - for DD "singing" along with me
    - for local eggs being available in Mr M's and not dropping them on the way home
    - for finding eco-friendly sanitary products in our small town (I don't like disposable products but necessary when travelling sometimes)

Bought some chocolate to give any of the neighbourhood children that I see on Christmas Day. They are all lovely (and funny) but some of them don't have very much and it is the season to be giving. Donated to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal. Also got some enormous baking potatoes from our local butcher (he sells fish as well) which we're having for dinner. Had a cheese sandwich for lunch and then went back to bed. I didn't sleep last night and I am so tired. The Boy is coming over from work so after I see him I'm back to bed. Hopefully I will sleep tonight.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    NSD today 13/15.
Brought own lunch into work today.
Did not walk for 15 minutes today as been tired. Did walk in school to make tea etc. Not much but better than nothing.
    Grateful for:
Printing off 2 £10 vouchers for my favourite shop. Will get some Christmas food shopping.
Having nice chats with some people in work.
Hearing and seeing geese in the park from the window in the office.
Finally informing the agency my plans to move to Norwich next year.
Will be having another early night and having a nice relaxing bath.
