Karmacat - below is the link to the brownies video, they look good but I can't vouch for them yet.

The recipe for the cake was:

1 cup gluten free plain flour
    1 cup cocoa powder
    1 cup sugar
    1 tbsp baking powder
1 can full fat coconut milk

I actually used 1.5 cups regular plain flour, 1/2 a cup of cocoa powder, a bit less sugar and 2 tsp baking powder and then the milk. Mix all in one bowl, tip into a greased cake tin (I used one of those with the loose bottom), recipe said 30 minutes at 160 degrees, I had the oven at 180 for 30 minutes and I took it out when there was still a bit clinging to a cocktail stick in the middle because I wanted it fudgey.

  • Morning all :). Nice to see the sun again after yesterday's freezing rain.

Got the bull of the Xmas shopping done yesterday, including stocking bits, Xmas eve pjs and work presents. Must start my wrapping today.

Aimimg for a NSD which will bring me up to 8. Getting there!

Payday on Friday, we don't seem to get paid early in December which is a blessing for budgeting. Few bits of food to get, then youngest's birthday in early Jan. Feb should see the bulk of the CC paid off, then it's time to concentrate on savings and OP the mortgage :). Determined that 2019 will be the year of controlling my budget, not the other way around.

I'm back. Spent yesterday in wild and windy Southport which wasn't quite as bad as Blackpool. Panto visit on Friday and Christmas dinner and man in a red suit yesterday evening (plus Miracle on 34th Street and Strictly final on tv). It felt so good to just walk out of the house on Friday morning after telling DS3 and Beloved that deliveries were expected between 7am and 7p.m. and that I expected them to move all the shopping (tins and bottles from the front room onto the kichen shelves, top cupboards and under the little side table. This has been done but nothing else as far as I can tell - the fridge frezer is still in it's box. Ah well I have floor space.

  • Thank you, Apple

I must admit I'm still feeling stressed and so is Himself. We're both agreed that the holiday wasn't what it should have been and the reasons why it wasn't.

Anyway, I did manage to do lots today. Decorated the Christmas tree and the living room, posted Christmas cards, changed the bedding, did three loads of washing which is now drying upstairs, made two lots of soup and a chicken is the oven roasting for dinner. Lots more to do tomorrow.

Today was NSD no 1 and AFD no 1. I'm starting over again although I think I did have some in the previous couple of weeks. I can't remember properly how many.

My nephew and his family wanted to come over today with some presents but I honestly couldn't face seeing anyone so I've put them off till next week. It's not like me but I honestly think I'm going to have to start putting my needs first. Still feel a bit guilty though.

So I think I'll be off to bed after dinner with a cup of tea and a new book,
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
  • Easier said than done I know Toni'sfriend - but there's no guilt to be had for putting your own needs first. Sorry things have been rubbish for you - hope that you're feeling better soon.
I've had a strange day today - thought I was well rested but I have felt exhausted for much of the day and almost fell asleep on the sofa this afternoon. However, I got my gin bottled, tablet boxed and managed an hour of tutoring as well so not entirely a write off. Now just to survive the next five days of hell at work.
    Today I am grateful for:
    much improved weather
home made plum and blackberry gin
    central heating
    my common sense

    Yesterday was NSD 11 ( I think)

DS3 decided this morning he wanted to buy Mr Hamster a brussel sprout for Xmas, and he wanted to choose it himself. Small shopping trip later and he is happy with his choice and wondering how to gift wrap it. Little things!

House smelled of gas, so called gasman out who could find nothing, so he went away again. House no longer smells of gas. Ho hum.

Ten days until it is all back to normal, but we will not be looking into empty pockets and purses and wallets. We are Turtles and we know it is only supposed to be one day.

Nowhere is it written that mince (or mice) pies must be consumed daily from 1st December, or that you must drink to the health of St Nick every evening. Unless you want to, and unless you choose to.

5 more school days until the holidays.

No snow over here in Le Shire. Was hoping for a smidge or a flurry, but nothing, just cold stinging rain.

Southport! So good they named it once.

It was the end of the line from my local train station when I lived in the NW, so in the school hols it was easy with 4 kids and a pushchair. Agree it is better than Blackpool, but used to love Formby and the red squirrel forest (although I never saw one - ever) and Crosby beach. Glad you had a good time and that things were done upon your return.

Happy day today with apple sponge and custard, veggie bacon sandwiches, and sauerkraut and sausages.

Tonight's entertainment will involve kids, baths, and a book. Still have not cracked open a bottle of mulled wine. Maybe later....

I was there last month - to be sure of seeing them, you definitely need food. Nuts and veg work, but one time we took apples, and they went crazy, ran away like hoarders to eat them on their own :rotfl:

    NSD today - 10/15.
Walked to and from station/Cathedral where an service was being held for lost ones at Christmas organised by an hospice.
    Lit a candle in flat.
No computer games, did not spend too much time on computer or mobile.
    Grateful for:
Trains fares being less than I thought it was going to be.
Getting part of a payment refunded back after getting an email code today for the virtual race I entered yesterday. I kindly asked and they honoured it. The code could have been used for any of the medals/races they had 50% off.
Doing quite a bit of household chores.
    Having a restful evening.

Today I am grateful for a pyjama day, for finishing off 8 lavender Nellies, for time with big sis over the weekend, for my adorable cousins, for getting dressed and dropping off some clothes and a fruity present to some friends, for having a warm house to dry off in after we were soaked to the skin, for all the in-your-face OTT cmas lights, for dh sorting out his kids' presents, for being able to enjoy the build up to Christmas without having a need to spend more and more and more.

  • After having 3 different kinds of sickness in the last two weeks, I appear to be developing my fourth. My joints are painful, my neck and head are painful, I am dizzy, tired, feeling sick and have freakishly little appetite (for me anyway, for a small person I put a lot away, and I'm breastfeeding). Deep, deep joy. As a result today was NSD 9, yesterday we had a flipping toll to pay.

    Gratitudes
DH looking after me despite being knackered himself
DD remembering how to sleep through the night (expect I felt too awful to sleep myself - damnation!)
    An indoors day
Getting the tree up in 10 minutes, dex and all (sense the enthusiasm! I also didn't feel I could stand for long)
