All my budgets have been spent - travel money transferred to diy. Went out to do a little shop (some mopping up of odd presents) which turned into a big shop. Couldn't get a taxi so leapfrogged it home - were you carry two of your bags for a short distance then return to your ther bag(s), walk past the first 2 bags a little way, put them down and go back (never leaving the other bags out of sight). Got easier once I got to the car park as there are cameras on the side of the town hall and at my end. A woman did offer to help but I was already up to the gable end of our row of houses so I thanked her profusely but declined.
Strange lot of shopping I have. Went back for the cider vinegar, bought 2 large bottles (local shop who now have my favourite fennel toothpaste back in stock so may start to use them instead of H&B), headed back to the market/mall hoping the candle stall was still there (spaces in the mall corridor are hired out, some people stay for ages, others are things like sky and only there for a week.
Tried a few shops looking for fluffy hot water bottles, fluffy boot slippers and slipper socks but the boot slippers were all £12 (think the Tessimo ones are £8 but did not want to go so far), one hot water bottle (pink knitted with bobbles - wished I'd bought it later but couldn't go back), quick look in some cs, stopped for a chat on a bench (indoor) with an old man then made for Wilk* hoping to finish off the list.
Was sure I had seen red and grey hw bottles with white stars to match their mini throws but no. Bought a turquoise one but not thrilled, some household things for the kitchen, stocked up on Vit D and ibruprofen and paid £20 for a key safe with combination lock to go outside at mum's. It's all metal and larger than the existing one which cost £60 (some plastic parts and currently jammed with the keys inside). I also treated myself to a large pale duck egg coloured throw for huddling.
I need to reinstate the list for things I want/ need and return to the practice of buying one thing off the list each month.
I have told DS3 and Beloved (separately, they were awake at different times) that I am away from tomorrow morning until Sunday (3 NSDs) and that the dw and additional fridge freezer are coming tomorrow. Beloved asked where the existing fridge will go (it's in the spot that has the water feed the dw will need) and I told her what I had decided (it's not a great spot but no time for radical shifting round of things - it will still be accessible and usable but not entirely convenient).
Just thought - I should have got dishwasher tablets and 'salt', is it in Wilc*. DS2 has been round and is fairly confident he can install the dw (he has a friend who is good with things like that).
Going to check on my clothes soon and then do what I can in the kitchen - will remember to add love from Father Christmas/ Easter Bunny/ Tooth Fairy on my notes. Arm and shoulder not in great shape but will see what can be done.
I sort of have a 1000 day plan but typing is hurting (most things have hurt today). I am grateful for a visit from DS2, for having money in the bank to buy things as long as I am careful, for a change in thinking (peviously I have done without, done without and done without and it's not always the best thing to do) for all the things I have managed to do today despite the limping, yelping and whining.
Put my tin of pennies and loose change in the bottom of my bag again and donated to 2 charity boxes (must take one of each tin multi buy to the food bank.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

ccl sending you all good wishes at this difficult time. I've not been in your position but I have split from a live in partner before with other complications and it is tough, particularly when they actively make it difficult; but there will be a day when the dust settles and you can look back and be proud of how strong you were. Hopefully something wonderful will then come your way, whatever wonderful would be for you (we all have different versions after all :-)) x
I've racked up another few NSDs, need to check diary how many I'm now on. Although I just realised I paid my cat sitter today so that's lost one, begger
Gratitudes
- DD on the mend and now sleeping better as a result
- being given mince pies and hot tea, and people holding DD whilst I consume them
- for having enough
- for this challenge inspiring me to read more again. Am on my second book of the month
- for having no desire whatsoever to replicate all the expensive light and inflatable displays people have put out for Christmas0 -
Evening Turtles
Today was a nsd 8/15 but tomorrow won't be as I need to do the grocery shop and it's Christmas party timewhich is all prepaid but I'm sure there'll be some additional spends. I haven't had a boozy night out in ages so I'm really looking forward to it. I got an evening dress off eBay in the summer for £1.75 plus postage :money: it's bnwt and is lovely. I've got shoes I've had for years that tend to only come out at Christmas and have a per una shrug that I got from a Cs a couple of years ago so I'm really pushing the boat out:rotfl:
Saw loads of seriously lit houses on the way home. I know they are a bit twee but I do love looking at twinkley lights
No excessive snacking!
Stuck to the meal plan and batch cooked risotto so there's enough for lunch and 6 portions for the freezer. Took breakfast, lunch and coffee to work.
Had 20 minutes reading before work which was lovely. Also drank enough water and did a spin class.
Got organised at home. Finished icing Christmas cakes and will deliver two gift ones this weekend, hoovered, wiped down kitchen units and hung a load of laundry on the airer and put another load away. Sorted out the recycling .
Avoided my main drainer - I'm getting quite adept at this
Today I'm grateful for my lovely bargain party dress, a straight forward day at work, for my hard working children who are not perfect but are proving to be grafters and for my warm cosy bed and the fact that I've been in it since 9.30.
Night night turtles:)

Debt-free date / Mortgage-free date / Savings target date. What’s yours? Currently August 2021 but hope to bring this forward quite a bit. Nothing paid today.
Organise your outgoings. Budget for the month. For e v e r y t h i n g. Write it down. And stick to it. Plan your meals – avoid waste. YNAB updated with budget for the month. Meal plan completed for this week. Stuck to meal plan again.
Count up to 15. Fifteen No Spend Days. Currently on 8/15. Nothing spent today.
Refrain from browsing your phone when nothing else is going on for the duration of the challenge. Be present in the moment. Be okay with “boredom.” Shall do my best. No aimless browsing today.
What kind of month do you want for yourself? Take a moment and really ask. What activities do I want to enjoy? What seasonal foods do I want to take advantage of? What do I want to have the energy to take on? Where can I build more leisure into my week? How can I be outside as much as possible? I'd like to enjoy December and not feel exhausted by the time we get to the end of the year. Catch up with friends and family, spend time with OH
Here’s a space to make up your own rule for the month. Please share it! Home - make the most of the time I spend at home instead of just slumping on the sofa.
Outings. Drop one. Decide which one, inform those who need to know and enjoy the time and money you have just given yourself. Decided to drop my work's Christmas do and feel very relieved for doing so.
Slow living this month. In a month of manicness, make a clear intention to keep your schedule and pace in check. Because, really, does anyone want a hectic December? This definitely fits in well with the kind of month I want.
Omm. Take care of your mental health. Do something every day this month that makes you feel good: gym, reading, time with family, favourite tv programme, meditation, building a snowman. NOT spending, of course!! Write down 4 gratitudes each day. A lie in this morning, haggis, neeps and tatties for tea, sparkly shoes and a cosy scarf.
No entry to any sales. Unless you have a planned budget and have been saving for a specific item PLEASE do not go to the Boxing Day Sales. Or any sales. Anywhere. It’s temptation you can’t handle to buy tat you really don’t need. STAY AT HOME! Likewise, no takeaways, canteen meals (unless free), coffee shop or corner shop visits. Ok.
Candles - Switch to candles and firelight after dark (or the high-tech adjustable hue bulb equivalents). Love this rule and have a huge supply of candles to use up.
Chase down more awe and joy. Go after it with a purpose. Go and enjoy the sparkly lights. Take a tour of your neighbourhood to look at other people’s outdoor decorations – and be smug about how you are not wasting your money like that. Go and seek Santa’s sleigh in the sky on Christmas Eve. Will do.
Exercise. Get 10,000 steps a day (or set your own target). Move a little more. Embrace the outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Aiming for 16 days exercise this month, currently on 6/16. Almost at 10,000 steps today.
“Don’t give up. Not ever. Not for one single day. Be safe if you can be. But always be amazing.” Pop on here every day and tell us what you’re up to. Not just the good stuff, but also the bad and the ugly too. Will do my best. I'm here
Identify activities and people who drain you. Give yourself permission to take a break from them for 21 days (or as many days as possible) if you can. Just maybe this is a gift you should’ve given yourself a long time ago…? Unfortunately I can't quit my job just to get a break from people who drain me :rotfl: but will continue to avoid as much as possible. Chief drainer has just gone on holiday for 10 days :T.
Visit your local area. Find new footpaths, see where a road or path takes you. Explore new horizons. Boldly go where no one has gone before. Oops, mixing my sci-fi….! Will do.
Exterminate (see, we can learn from the DALEKS…) one bad habit from your life for the first 10 days. This is NOT about food. I shall be renouncing a particular game I play on my tablet that just sucks me in and takes hours of my time. And I have recently moved up a level, so it’s even harder to put down…! I shall not play a particular game on my tablet, not played for 13 days.
Remember that you are blessed. Count your blessings daily. Be grateful for what you have. And remember those that have less – donate money, food, non-perishables, blankets to a charity that you want to support. Relish life, one day at a time. Had a conversation with my dad over the weekend about various charities and have one in mind that I want to look into donating to. Hi all:j
Had an unenviable day doing housework, concentrating on the bathroom/which also includes hall/2 sets of stairs & 2 landings...sigh. DD went to pick up some photos, have some beauty treatment done & only after that came round so I decided to carry on working till she got there, reasoning that we could eat a late lunch together & then hairdresser would be here...not a great idea as it turned out. Think I must need to take a break earlier because I was wiped out by suppertime. Anyhow, it's done now & will be - on pain of death - still decent by time my hair gets done next Tuesday...
NSD again today so: 7/15 NSDs
Gratitudes today: Getting bathroom more or less decent in time, not falling out with DD (we normally do), easy meal of HM Nandos tonight, lovely photos of dog when a puppy, cat's mad antics.

Morning turtles,
Yesterday was NSD 7/15 for me.
Today and tomorrow will defo be spend days and so I hope to get some consecutive NSD's starting Sunday.
I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with something so I'm bracing myself for feeling rubbish within the next 24 hours.
Grateful for
- Medicine
- Heated seats
- Strong coffee
- Good nights sleep (which I didn't get)0 -
Morning!!
NSD yesterday, but still only 4/15.
Moving day today, and of course we have loads more stuff than we thought once it's all packed up, even though these days I move apartments at least once a year, I never learn....
I am supposed to "work" from home for most of the day on Friday, but couldn't concentrate knowing there was still cleaning/packing to be done, so instead have spent most of the morning cleaning and scrubbing mould off the bathroom tiles with a toothbrush.... it has become evident that this flat has been sh1te value for money - it's through a company similar to aireb&b but for slightly longer term rental (so you get a tenancy agreement) BUT like aireb&b you never get to see it before you move in..... which I think allows people to freely advertise their apartments which turn out to be damp, noisy and NOT worth it.
However once more I'll be leaving a flat in better condition than I found it in.
Will probably have to make several trips with packed up belongings today to new place down the road although I've already done 4-5. Thanks Mothernerd for the leapfrogging idea, it might come in handy today...
I am grateful for... my new place being just around the corner, Christmas music and red wine.
Hope everyone has a good dayStudent loan £5655
