Here's a wee cry for help, albeit an odd arsed about faced kinda one:)
My family and I always book our digs in advance for Florida, have done now for the last four trips and then the flights as the date approaches. We thought we'd do the same this year, villa is booked, Disney is also booked but then the other day we were on VA's website to book our flights and they're all gone (well all the economy class)! It's always so quiet in September, we've never ever had a problem before and we're checking every day in desperation. Does anyone know whether or not VA hold back X amount of seats on a flight til a specific date or...?
We love flying with VA, mainly due to their generous baggage allowance which means we're able to bring back god knows how much American groceries. I've looked around and I can't really see anyone that really matches them, anyone care to enlighten me?
Also, what are peoples' experiences with flying indirectly? I've been looking into this in desperation and wondered if it was a viable solution..Bankrupt 28/07/08!0 -

eripmav!
As you say an !!!! about Face way of doing it.
Its much easier to get a villa than a flight at the right price.
Flying indirectly is really no problem. Even if your trans Atlantic flight is delayed you are placed on the next aircraft down to Orlando. I have flown Delta and AA, Delta being better IMO.
If the rumours are true there will be a lot less flights going to Florida in September, so if you have paid up front for accom. it may be prudent to get a flight soon as.
As for Virgin holding back seats, its quite likely!
Hope that helps.:beer:Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

Good luck
I have to disagree, i have always found Americans to be friendly, albeit somewhat ignorant to anything outside America, but very welcoming people.
The biggest 'people problem' in America from my point of view is the English who exchange their manners and stiff upper lip at the airport for arrogance and ignorance.
The British in Vegas and Orlando are the worst. I cringe at the way some English tourists speak to Americans.
It really does not surprise me the reputation the British on tour have.0 -

I would only fly indirect if i was having a stopover.
Otherwise i don't see the point, particularly since MCO is only a 9 hour flight there and even less at about 7 hours back.0 -
Hello to everyone,
This is my first posting and I am really not sure if I should have put it here so please help if it is wrong!
Ok, I have a big family - 4 children, myself and hubby. We are planning to go to Disney next year. My plan is that we save so much each week and then this time next year hopefully bag a cheapish flight and accomodation for us as I am a bit reluctant to book for next year incase any of these flight companies may go bust.
I would like to ask and welcome any advice on how to try and get the most out of Disney/Orlando and to try and keep the cost down as 3 of the kids will now pay adult prices.
I had a look at a 5 day pass for Disney which I thought looked good - does anyone have any other ideas?0 -

The best tip is to plan, plan and plan some more!
Buy (or borrow from library) a good guide book ( Brits Guide or Unofficial Guide are regularly recommended on here) do your research and decide exactly what you really want to do and what you are are happy to skip. This way you won't end up over-buying tickets that you won't get full use out of.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Hi there
Sorry to hear about this.
If the flight is showing as full then its fullThey woudl probably not hold anything back no but I do have a couple of options for you
1) Try British airways. Same baggage allowance as VA. Try them to MCO (which is Orlando) and also try (TPA) which is Tampa. Although Tampa is an extra 30 mins drive its like two roads and you will probably be out of the airport quicker than MCO anyway so you may well make up the time
2) as you say indirect is an option. The only thing iw oudl say on this is make sure where you are going is not a MASSIVE airport as you may have to change terminatals etc. I like Boston or Newark if going indirect as they are fine. Use sites like expedia and kayak to check
Good luck!!

Maybe I should have said "some" Americans. There is a big difference in those from the North and those from the southern states. Their really is.
As for the Brits abroad, well again that's "some". Yes some are dreadful but I woudl have thought they are dreadful here as well.
But I stand by my over reaction point. Take Swine Flu. | Central Florida sold out of face masks two days after the first reported case in Mexico! Mmmmmm
