A guy at work reckons Disney discount their tickets a couple of times a year - anyone got any info on when that's likely to be, and if it's only from the Disney website?
TIA as usual:D
Hi
They dont often discount the gate entry tickets, i.e. what you see listed as you approach the gate. They often (and have done for the past few years) three types of deals though.
One is free dining plan
One is buy 4 nights get 43 nights free and
one is buy a 7 day UK Ultimate ticket and get 14 days.
Out of these I think the DDP is the best one really as this is for the length of your stay. As to when they do it,. Probably after Easter. Keep an eye on the Disney Brit podcast https://www.disneybrit.com or check out https://www.mousefantravel.com
Cheers

I can't comment on the Disney hotels as I've never stayed there but they seem very expensive! We've always rented villas (independently rather than via agents) as they give you much better value for money and you get the flexibility of your "own home" more often than not with a pool.
As for the eating out there isn't a problem having to book unless you are going to some of the extremely popular "named" restaurants. e.g. you'd expect to have to book in advance at the Ivy in London.
There are some really great places that serve extemely high quality food for a reasonable price (never mind the size of the portions!!). I'd try places like the Olive Garden, Mimi's, Carabas, Brio Tuscan Grill, Red Lobster, and the list goes on.....not to mention the "fast food" places such as Chili's, Denny's, IHOP etc. (Cracker Barrel is great for breakfast by the way)
You'll see most of these at the major malls or strip malls as you drive along places like the US 192 (from I4 towards Kisimmee). There's normally no need to book but if you are planning on turning up on a Saturday evening you may have to wait, perhaps up to 45 mins or so.
The biggest challenge is trying to eat in every one you see in such a short space of time!!!!!
P.S. Take proof of ID to Disney as I understand if it's your birthday you get in free for the day.0 -
Please can anyone recommend a nice place to eat a breakfast buffet (4 adults, 4 kids) and apporx cost near Oranage Tree, Clermont.
I was told either Sizzler or Ponerosa are 'reasonable value'.
Thanks in advance.
Have eaten breakfast to both of these (although not the Clermont location), paid about $6-7 per adult last year if I remember correctly.
Of the two we preferred Sizzler, but not much in it really.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Question is will he be allowed to hire a car in Aug 09 in Orlando or will I end up doing all the driving.
He wil be fine, do not worry.

Hi
Orange Tree is just down the road to me. My house is on Tradd's.
The buffets are good value but you may actually get better grub heading north to Denny's on teh US27 or Bob Evans. There is also a Perkin on the US 50 which is about 9 mmiles from you (again north on 27 then left on 50.
Or head south to the Walmart at Cagons Crossing and just over the raod is Randy's. Crap for dinner but fantastic for brekkie. Or just head down the 192 and there are lots there.

Usethemouse wrote: »Hi there
I am completely new to this so hope I am doing things in the right way.
I have been reading this thread with great interest and would like to say many thanks for all the great tips, links, opinions and debates on here. I have learned so much already. I am hoping that someone on here has the experience to help us decide the best trip for us to WDW this Summer.
This will be our first trip to Orlando with our almost four year old (last trip was many moons ago pre-Universal, AK, etc!). We previously stayed on I-Drive with a car, which was great for our needs at the time and would consider this option. We would however really like to make this trip as special as possible for our LO and are thinking of staying in a Disney location. Recognising the expense of doing so, we are a bit confused about what our best options might be.
Thank you for the tips about the best moderate Disney resorts. We are now seriously considering these. What I would like to know however if anyone can help, is what exactly can we expect in the way of "Disney Magic" by staying at one of the WDW resorts? What makes them so special? (I understand all about the dining plan, extra park hours, transport, etc.). The thing is we have been quoted approx. same price for the 5* Disney Swan/Dolphin (although not owned/operated by Disney, apart from dining plan and room charging, it does offer the same "visible" benefits and appears to have a great location). We would obviously expect the atmosphere to be a bit different at this hotel but would we be missing out on something special by choosing this over a Disney owned property (we are looking for the best experience for our £££ basically?)
Also, a quick (I promise) question about dining when staying in the Disney area - I am horrified by the idea that I might have to choose months in advance when/where we are going to eat every day - do you really have to plan and make reservations for every meal in advance?
Sorry my first post is such a long one. Thank you so much if you have read this far! Any comments or advice would be hugely appreciated.
Many thanks
Hi and welcome
OK lots of questions there, lets see....
I will start from the bottom and work up (scrolling back see)
- Disney dining - for some really nice experiences and some charater meals you will need to book yes BUT you do not need to book everything. A lot depends on when you are going of course and where you want to eat and at what time. So it you want it eat at teh Califonian Grill on a Friday at 8pm you will need to book
but a Tuesday at 6pm? probably not. We have wlaked in a few times and got a table.
So places like Le Celier, the Yatchsman, Tutta Italia, Obamas and Cal Grill nmight need an ADR but you can spread those out.
Places like T Rex etc yes you can ADR them but you can also walk in and wait. I would head over to https://www.allears.net and click on dining and pick some of the palces you fancy and book those. They have menus and pricing over there.
- on or off property - this is a long debate and I have done both many times. Yes for a holiday and a Disney holiay I think on prooperty uis wonderful but that comes at a price. The Disney resorts are just that resorts, they have everything you need and the transfers to the parks are seemless. Your room key can be your park entrance etc, you cna have all of your items you buy shipped to your room etc etc. The service is exceptional and they make every effort to you having a great time.
However there is nothing wrong with staying off site and some of the hotels like the Comfort Inn LBV the Marriott Village etc are great places
the swan and dolphin are great as well but some something a little cheaper why not check out the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd like the regal palms. Wonderful ocation within five mins walk of Downtown Disney and also the resturants and stores of Crossroads.
So hope that helps
