Have you looked at getting the sat nav software from amazon.com and having it delivered to the resort? We use Amazon.com all the time and get the delivery timed for as we arrive. If you speak to the hotel before hand they can arrange to hold the parcel for you if it arrives early. They may charge you a small handling fee, but for us most things work out a lot cheaper buying like this. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? This is a news story about it, thank goodness I wasn't near Lake Apopka, where the temperature dropped to 16 - that's fahrenheit not centigrade...

In that case let me apologise.
You are very unlucky indeed! 4 January's in a row where i have experienced great weather in Florida.0 -
Has anyone got any tips on the cheapest way to get hold of a TomTom whilst you are out there please?
The car hire company would like to charge me a fortune for hiring one - i.e. pay half of what it's worth! and to by an SD card with USA maps loaded on to it (for use with my own TomTom) comes in at £60.99 via amazon.co.uk.
Last year my OH got a map for our Tom Tom direct from the Tom Tom site I think he just downloaded it and it was about £30 not sure what the price is now.0 -
vivatifosi wrote: »Sorry, forgot to mention. We go to Disney each January, but this year it has been really cold (as in minus, in our degrees). Even though we took fleeces and jumpers, we had to buy gloves, hats and warmer gloves than the ones we had taken over there. There is another cold snap coming through the state this weekend, so if you are going soon, please make sure that you take warm clothes with you. Its due to be cold overnight both Friday and Saturday (though thankfully not as bad as we had) and there are a number of these little fronts coming through.

Gosh, you leave the MSE for a few hours....
I had a clal from my US neighbour who was telling my how blooming freezing it was and that a lot of my plants around the pool were looking frostbitten and knackered. Then got the same from my lawn guy. My neighbours are from Michigan and so do not like the cold in Florida.
I do feel sorry for those on holiday when the weather is not great. Whilst its more comfortable to walk around the parks etc it aint what you fly 9 hours for in January is it?
all weather forcasts tell fibs, I have accuaweather running on firefox and it never tells the trusth, best to check the local news likeWESH Orlando or the paper like Vivo suggests.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

It was the worst 3 day period since 1987, or so the NBC morning news was reporting. It was surreal driving around Disney, the beautiful tropical plant displays everywhere were all covered with white fabric, as were the citrus groves across the state. In Epcot there were little signs saying 'Jack Frost has paid us an unexpected visit, please excuse us while we replant'. If you are due to visit, the temps shouldn't get that cold again, but there is freaky weather in FL at the mo and so its still definitely worth taking warm clothes. By the end of the trip my jumper could have walked home by itself...
Edited to add: the overnight lows over the coming days are a massive 1 and 3 degrees C respectively. BRRRRR

we fly to america on the 16th feb,but yesterday my mum fell and she has broken her big toe, her friend has said you can't fly for 3 weeks does any one know we don't want to have to cancel but if their might be problems my mum's health is more important thank you michelle
Sorry to hear about that Michelle
I was once leaving Florida to fly home, saw the fan was on outside, went to turn it off and kicked the toy box. Snapp - i knew it was broken. Hurt like hell when I put my new skecthers on to come home and yep when I got home it was black and had it xrayed as i though i had broke foot bone like a pro footballer too.
As for the airline, if they see you Mum is in discomfort then they will asked to see if she had doctors clearance, so she may well want to go to her GP and get the OK. My Mother in law has flown witha cast and they were OK with that.
Whoare you flying with? The reason i ask is if its Virgin I will post the special needs department and you can call them They will araange for a bulkhad seat to make her more comfy

Hi there are a couple of things to try....
If you have a Tom TOm that can take maps you can buy them from teh UK. You cabn downlaod the US map for about 30 quid
If you do not have a TomTom you can do the amazon thing which is a very good idea. You can even reserve one at walmart.com if that helps or even use the american eBay
If any of your firends have a TomTom that starts with a 9 so a 910, 920, 930, 940 etc then that has th USA maps and you could beg and borrow that one?Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Carlito1980 wrote: »Were the Flexticket Plus for children at £146?
I am trying to beat £165 for adults at the moment. Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper? Called Thomas Cook Signature but you need to book the holiday through them to qualify for the £150 price.
Thanks
quote=junpit;18151247]Hi
I booked in April last year and am now going through the process of trying to get the cheapest tickets. After scouting around, I could not believe my look when I went to service my booking and saw that the virgin system was quoting me
£208.00 21 day ultimate (adult)
£178.00 21 day ulrimate (child)
£130.00 flexticket (adult)
£110.00 flexticket (child)
They were also doing flexticket plsu tickets at well under what I could see. Obviously the advertised prices for a new ticket purchase are significantly higher than these.
Anyway I ordered the flexticket plus and 21 day ultimates. It would not however let me add the normal flextickets at 130 as the web site errored. I have been on the phone complaining and it did me no good.
My plus flexes were prices at 146.
Any ideas how I might get virgin to honour the 130.00?
-Junpit
No. The adult was 146 and child 136. I must stress however that this is a pricing error based on their current prices, although I think the system has just given me the advertised prices at the time of my booking. I still cant get them to honour it.0 -
As promised, I did ask about what was going on at Pop Century. I was told by several cast members that the rumour on the street about the other side of the lake being developed is true. Disney has been in a bit of a quandry as to what to do with the buildings for some years now and this gives them a chance to test a different concept to those that it already has and widen its offering. This should not affect the day-to-day running of the existing PC buildings.
There are also cutbacks at Disney - redundancies are planned at the moment, though these may not be noticed in the parks, so whether or not they go ahead with this at this time or just test the concept with a view to rolling it out in better times, who knows? Anyone who thinks back to the different incarnations of the Boardwalk will know that plans change. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
