thanks both for your prompt replys

    1) mum is keen on disney coronado springs, animal kingdom and wilderness lodge
    2) do not want/need car hire (dad is a mechanic so for hime anywhere where we drive he does not think is a hol)
3)price we were quoted does not include tickets

thanks for links guys ill look into those now

Your mum has taste. She is going for the delux and I do not blame her. The Aminial Kingdom lodge is lovely hotel and in a lovely position. Its the newest of the deluxe hotels and would cost you about 1350 per person all in.

Even though the car is included you do not need to take it. You can take transfers instead which are great and as you are on Disney you do not need a car.

The wildenses lodge is a magic kingdom resort hotel and one of the originals in the park, but still ace. it would be about 1500 a person.

    Have fun

does anyone know if there are any no-go areas (not central orlando) to rent?

I'm looking through now before booking (arriving on 17th Feb), and the cheaper houses seem to be east, south east of orlando (US27)

my wife is worried about a home invasion, which means the kids will be sleeping with us!!! (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

I've not been for years, and was in my teens and twenties, so mortality was never spoken about. I stayed in some very average motel/hotels, and won't be wasting my money this time around on smelly hotel rooms, I'm assuming it's just proximity to parks that keeps costs low in areas (£350 a week rather than £500)
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

    Hi

You will notice a lot of change if you have not been there for years.

Orlando is as safe as any city. You have to be careful but also remember touism is its prime income so it has to be safe. As you say the City centre or Downtown Orlando is not the best place to go and the area up by West Oaks mall is probably not worth a visit to late at night but the rest is fine. Espcially around Disney you will feel very safe and indeed will be.

You mention the area by the 27. This has probably had some of the most investment over the last few years. The area close to the 192 junction with the 27 is actually a really nice ara and you shoudl certainly try communities there such as emerald Island etc. If you go north on the 27 from here places like Glenbrook and Weston Hills and even orange Tree you will be in a very nice area. Going south towards palces like Florida Pines is still OK although out of the two i would prefer to be in the north.

There are many different types of visitor to Orlando and many people like many different areas. I Drive is very popular, its not for me at all but I do understand what the appeal is to some. I would prefer the 27/182 area of even Lake Buena vista area which is disney but they all have their pros and cons.

I think the pricing may just be because of the sheer number of retnals in the Disney area.

    HTH
