    Hi,

Having looked on here once before I saw Broadway Travel recommended. I can currently find flights for the correct dates and accomodation. This would be our 1st time to Disney, & like everyone else this year I'm on a budget.

Basically I'm unsure if I've done my maths right as the price I'm getting looks rather cheap. Its for 2 adults & 2 children flying out 20th May 2009, returning 2nd June. I've got a price of £1400 for flights and another £1000 to stay in a Disney hotel. Does this look right or am I way out? My next option is to go 24th July but I wasn't too sure if it'd be too hot or hurricane season?

Or if anyone has any other suggestions re companys to use I'd be very grateful. Also does anyone know who the 'scheduled' airline is that Broadway travel use?
I went to Orlando through Broadway Travel last May (great time of year to go) and I found that what you see is what you get. If they are telling you that's what it costs then that's what it costs (I found them incredible cheap to!;)). The only extra that I had to pay on top of what they quoted was for meals on the flights but that's not that much at all.
    1st Aim = Pay off Virgin CC - £3929.11
  • We are going to Florida for the first time and dont know which areas are the best to stay in the Orlando area, I have been looking on line but there are so many complexes I am not sure which ones to pick.

We dont want to travel to far from the Disney resorts, preferably shops/restaurants close by.

If you can recommend some companies also that would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi there.

OK so if you want to be near to Disney adn the reorts then my first suggestion would be the Disney resorts themselves. Disney rates its hotels in three catergories value, moderate adn deluxe. Remember this is America and value does not mean Tesco value but is still much higher quaklity tan in teh UK for instance. The value redorts are the Pop Century and the All Stars (movies, sports and music).

If youa re going for these I would go for Pop Century ad then All Star Sports bBUT only if you get building 7 or 11.

If you are looking for somethign that is not a Disney hotel then the next level to suggest would be a hotel on Hotel Plaza Blvd. This is a road that runs from an area called Crossroads down to DownTown Disney. Its Disney property BUT NOT Disney hotels or prices. From here you can walk to either Downtown Disney or to Crossroads. At crossroads there is a Supermarket some great shops and also some very good palces to eat like Olive Garden, Chevvys, Bahamama Breeze etc. There us also not so great places to eat suc as McDonalds and Pizza Hut LOL

Hotel names to try here are teh Holiday Inn (which used to be a Marriott Courtyard) and Regal Palsms. There is also a Hoilton and Doubletree but they might be a bit more expesive. Take a look at https://www.Hotels.com etc for prices

A little cheaper but stillin a good area in my vioew are the hotels in Lake Buena Vista. Here you have the Comfort Inn LBV and also the Marriott village.

My own view is I woudl avoid the i Drive area hotels.

For other very cheap hotels awhoch are still good you could try palces like the Super 8 on US 192. This does rooms for under $40 a night and is perfectly clean and acceptable.

    HTH

Where abouts on teh 27 are you? There are quite a few palces there to eat now,. There is an olive garden, Red Lobster, Bob Evans, Carabbas, Chilis, Webndys even McDonlads, Mannys Chop house, Applebees so its pretty good. Its a much nicer road than the 192 unles you have alijking for neon LOL

And there's always Roxies Show Bar for the nightlife lol! (is that still holding out?)
Thanks for the reply re checking disney tickets too :)

Edit: BTW I am joking about Roxies for nightlife, it's a "gentleman's" club, just in case anyone decided to visit and got a shock!
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy

  • Hi Craig

Thanks for the information, sorry but I should have said that we need a villa with a pool, because of the way the group is made up. I know that we will need to travel just outside the main hub, but we dont want to go miles away.

Can you suggest any areas or complexes - and travel companies that specialise in villa holiday

    Thanks for your help

We opted for a hotel on canada drive called Fairfield Inn & suites....... it reveiws are really good look at tripadviser, it is the no1 orlando hotel by peoples reveiws out of nearly 400 orlando hotels...... you also get free breakfast each morning, the hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable, and bed, I think I read that they are memory foam mattresses!!!!.......and its a marriot group hotel, but at more budget prices.........it does book up quickly!!!, due to having such good reviews....... wherever you go, have a fab time on your first trip to orlando, im sure it wont be your last ....x

The fairfield inn is part of the marriott brand, whilst the value option in their portfolio its still a marriott and great value. In Chicago where I stay for work there is a fairfield and a courtyard (bboth marriotts) on opposite corners. One is 40% cheaper than the other and free brekkie so its a no brainer.

My personal viw though is that I do not worry too much about trip advisor. They, for me, base their reviews on teh wrong key factors. I woudl rather when chosing and advising on Disney area hotels use Len testa's unoffical guide to walkt disnmey world.

    Hi,

Sorry but I'm probably going to be posting several questions at the min. I'm trying to choose accomodation at the min. Does anybody have an opinion about The Extended Delux Stay Sea World, or The Raddisson Resort Celebration?

    No worries Fishhawks

Disney Villas can be a mindfield. Becuase (and here we go again and I have my tin hat on) not all (see I said not all) owners are 100% truthful with their locations disntacne from teh parks.

There are lots of things to consider with a villa so you need the right number of rooms - the biggest houses have 6 bedrooms some do have 7 but (and I am not 100% sure this is up-to-date so please correct me) a 7 bedroom may need a different licence to operate in certain county s.

Then of course you have pool size - we are luck as we built our own pool and its very big so have a look at the size and make sure you can all fit in it and mess around.

Also does the villa have a lanai (a covered area under the house with shade). Many houses have a pool cage but no shaded area under the house so it gets very hot. Many now have a porch like at the bnag with fans etc. Very cool and nice palce to rest.

What area is the villa in? For Disney you want to be looking at places like Emerald Island etc see the helpful map here http://www.orlandovillas.com/Map.aspx and you can see where they are.

As for companies, well there are websites like www.lastminutevillas.net or www.allstarvactionhomes.com are good. Also as people here will suggest you can contact many owners directly and many advertise on teh dibb www.thedibb.co.uk but thats a tad to intense for me.

Even places like Virgin holidays now rent villas so there is some choice around. But its all price dependant as ever
