Thanks for that, we've decided to upgrade them to the Ultimate Tickets, for an extra tenner pp it makes sense not to be restricted to only a handful of visits to the waterparks etc, especially as we're there for the last open week of Downtown Disney - want to have a look at it before it closes.

Am I right in thinking that you can't make the Ultimate tickets non-expiration, that only applies to the Premium ones?

Premium tickets only as posted here.

Also, has anyone does the Segway tour at either Epcot or Wilderness whatsitcalled? Is it worth it?

I've done the Epcot tour, well worth it as its great fun. Go for an early one as you are in Epcot before World Show Case opens to the public and its really interesting to see it with only CM's getting the park ready and you weave in and out of the different countries, including the shop in Morocco I think. Its two hours, an hour inside learning and practising then you start round WSC from Mexico with a break at Italy for photographs. We did it around 8.00 am and by the time we were heading back the park was quite busy. Its quite sore on the legs and we headed straight to the Finding Nemo ride to sit down :)

Hello, can somebody advise please if it is possible to visit Disneyworld without a car?

I am thinking of taking my 12 year old son next year but don't drive and so need advice as to where the closest place to all the action is!! Also, what is the weather like in early April?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Best wishes

    Carol

Im a single parent and going for the 4th time in 5 years, in a couple of weeks (cant wait!) with my daughter who is 9 now. Even though I drive I have never hired a car there and never will (cant be bothered with the hassle). I personally like staying at Disney as I spend most of my time there anyway, however you can stay most places for the action depending on your preference as there is the i-trolley for going up and down i-drive (which can be busy though) or the lynx local bus service which is great. Buses go to Disney, Universal, Seaworld etc. And if you want to go further gatortours can take you - Kennedy Space Centre, Clearwater, Miami etc. Florida is one of the few places I feel completely safe walking about on my own with a young child and using buses, taxis etc.

Who has done Discovery cove swimming with dolphins??

My son would like Father Christmas to bring him this for Christmas (I think!) for us to use when we go in Feb 2009!

I've found tickets for £147 or £176 with the ultimate experience (ie Aquatica, Busch and Seaworld included) my parents are coming but not sure that they will want to go but £82 for a day at Discovery cove with no dolphin experience is probably too much for them.

Anyway is it worth it??? Did you have a good time if you did it and thirdly is Aquatica going to be open in February??

    Again thanks for your advice.

    Hi there,

I too am looking to do this in January. Firstly I thought this was very expensive and went about looking for another option, there dosnt really seem to be one. I did find a 2day 1 nite in hotel trip to the keys to swim with dolphins for £166 which shows just how expensive Discovery Cove is. Then I went on you tube to investigate the place and there was a video about how they should be in the wild and this isnt natural and now im slightly put off :(

Does anyone know if there are any alternatives?

    Thanks

    Hi furrypig,
we went to Discovery cove two years ago to swim with the Dolphins and it was well worth the money.we spent time exploring discovery cove and swimming before swimming with the dolphins.afters wards we spent time at sea world.there are some great shows on.remember when visiting discovery all food and snacks are included in the price.and at the end of your visit you can take a few snacks and drinks with you to last whist in sea world.

I did it a few years ago, enjoyed it but as for being worth the money I wasn't totally convinced....after 30 mins tops shared interaction with your dolphin then it makes for quite an expensive day at the beach although we did get 7 days at Seaworld included in the price and now they have different packages including Aquatica :D

Obviously its a lovely place, the numbers are limited to 1,000 so its not like an normal Orlando park with loads of people. The food is quite good, the people are nice, the photos they take can work out pretty expensive but we did enjoy the lazy river compared to using one at the other water parks where you are fighting for rings and a small space to move.

The following year we did a "behind the scenes at the Dolphin Nursery" at Seaworld for $40 and really enjoyed that but they no longer do it so I won't expand on that. Epcot do a dolphin encounter though which might suit your son, 3 hours for $150.

The other thing about DC at that time of the year is that it can be quite cold.

The Premium ticket gives you so many days at a water park 4 or 6 on the 5 or 7 days ticket for the parks. So if you were to go from a park to a water park in the same day then you will have used up 2 of the days from your 5/7 days, all expire 14 days after you first use the ticket no matter if its a water park or a "normal" park. In other words if you are there over say 14 days its best to use the water park ticket part on a day you aren't going to a "normal" park.

but... having said all that I would recommend the 14 day ticket if you are there for 14 days as for all the extra it costs then you can park hop to your hearts content!

We have always liked going back to Epcot for the fireworks if we have say spent the day at a water park or indeed Seaworld or shopping.
