The standard offering for us Brits in terms of disney tickets are the 7 day and 14 day ultimate/premium tickets - which includes park hopping and loads of other bits. These cost around £145 - £165 for adults and a bit of a discount for kids.

Personally I think this horrendous - particularly if you are not going round disney all day, every day (£600 for a family of four).

The other option that I have found - and it can be done in advance, and having checked all the small print, we are allowed to buy as UK citizens (ie they are not restricted to USA citizens) - are the Magic Your Way basic tickets. These DO NOT include entry to water parks or a couple of other disney sites (including the sports venue) but do include 1 entry per day to each of the main parks (with my family we will be just doing one park a day - with a family ranging from 5 year old to a 75 year old, one disney experience a day will be just fine).

A magic your way ticket for 7 days costs $222 bought in advance and $234 on the gate. (this is according to www.touringplans.com which is a really great resource - even the free stuff but definately worth the extra few pounds for a years sub to the touring plans - cheaper than a guide book).

It is not a massive saving - but over £150 for four people so not to be sniffed at. Depends on how you are planning your days.

I agree, this is what we did. We knew we didn't want to do the Disney waterparks (had Aquatica included in our DC package) or park-hop so it seemed daft to pay for them.
We booked ours through the Virgin reps in Orlando, paid in $ when the rate was good and picked up the tickets at the desk in the airport when we landed. This avoided any import/customs charges which you might be charged if you have tickets posted.

We saved about £120, which gave us an extra $240ish to spend while we were there!

Thanks everyone for your advise. I'm going to book using Virgins platinum insurance, however can someone confirm this will mean NO further charges at the Virgin-Dollar desk at MCO.

We've never had any additional charges.
They always try and get you to upgrade (we always book the smallest car) but we've always said 'No thank you' then got a free upgrade (or two) anyway because they don't have the car we'd booked!

Two American sites I've used in the past are

Mapleleaftickets and Undercovertourist. Both supply real tickets not vouchers and delivery very quickly - always received them within 10 days. Never had to pay customs charges for them. I just prefer to have the tickets in hand before we go so that the 1st morning we can get up and go and not bother with welcome meetings.

I was wondering about the kennedy space centre, where is the best prices on tickets for that, been to florida twice in the past and still not been there but going this time.
I also here that there is maybe a launch while we are there,i looked on there site and i think there are two planned when we are there, but on someother site there was no mention of it as it was selling vip tickets but there was no mention of the dates we was there.
Anyone been there on launch days,is the tickets more or can you pay for it more to get a closer look,or can you still see lots regardless where your at that day,it be nice to see one of the launch's when we are there, but was wondering about the tickets if there are special ones to get on that days or just as normal.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

On launch days, part of the site is shut, so tours are truncated.

Tickets for the launch pad, close to the take off, sell out in minutes.....like five minutes. You can get tickets for the main centre, but thats about five miles from the take off.

The downside is that it can take many many hours to get back to Orlando.

Ive heard the beach (Cocoa?) is a good free location to view from.

If you get your ticket stamped on exit, you can return for a visit on a second day for free.

Be aware that launch dates can change, due to weather etc, and if it moves outside your holiday, youre stuffed.

Hi I have just phoned Virgin and they confirm that the car is included but the insurance is £224 for 2 weeks in November and approx £300 in September. This is based on a car for 2 people and the driver over 25 years old.

Has anyone stayed at the Bahama Bay resort as my husband are thinking of booking it for £558 in September but are not sure. We could also stay at the Best western on International drive (next to the Black angus steak house and near the water park) for £210 for the both of us so not too sure what to do.

Just came back from Bahama Bay. I know you can get cheaper but all I can say is that it was a brilliant resort - really clean and well kept, friendly staff, good clean pools, close to Walt Disney World, Publix supermarkets nearby. Our apartment was basically a fully funished flat, with loads of towels. Only comment you need to know is $70 cleaning fee. Check out tripadvisor for reviews.

The key here is planning. You need to sign up to the armchair astronaut at the Kennedy website. You will then get notifications of when tickets go on sale. You need to be really really (really!) quick when the tickets go on sale for the closest lauch platform. We got to Kennedy for the last launch and although this was not the closest point it was a really exciting and happy atmosphere, with loads of info in advance, and the launch was just mega.:T

Expedia has flights starting from 657pp flying London -> Orlando, outbound 16/7, return 29/7. I assume the 900pp flights you mentioned were on weekends?
