Faulty Dyson - Argos

Hi,

Bought a dyson from argos in store around few months ago and today it developed a fault.

I understand dyson comes with 3 or 5 years warranty as standard however during the 1st year of purchase who is obliged to sort the above fault out or exchange or refund? Is it Argos or the manufacturer dyson?

Manufacturer are responsible for the warranty, your consumer rights are with the seller.

It will so much quicker and easier if you let Dyson handle it.

    Well you have a choice.

Technically Argos are obliged to deal with the fault so you could force the issue and go through them, in reality all that will happen is that you will contact Argos, Argos will contact Dyson, Dyson will contact you, the fault will be rectified by Dyson

    Or

You can contact Dyson yourself and the fault will be rectified by Dyson.
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear

Dyson warranties are excellent, they deal with it quick. going through Argos will take much longer as first you have to force them to deal with it.

Whats a few months? If it's over 6 then it gets even harder.

Argos changed they way they deal with returns a year or so ago. before you could just take it back and they wouldn't even look in the box, now they check and double check everything.

You will only get a repair , not a refund or replacement.

As others point out , go direct to Dyson . They will virtually rebuild machines under warranty with no quibble

I phoned up Dyson and they saying I have to book an engineer visit for inspection/collection next week. Problem is I need a vacuum this weekend so I cant wait till next week.

So i just went to Argos shop earlier on and they saying to phone up Dyson. I told them my circumstances and argos are still sodding me off to Dyson.

I thought by buying from retailer shop instead of buying online you get that extra peace of mind with the retailer if anything goes wrong during the 1st year. That peace of mind is exchange so i can use appliance straight away without waiting or refund/vouchers so i can buy another appliance quickly without waiting you know what i mean. Dyson also saying on phone if i cant wait for engineer visit then take it back to shop retailer. Also i got to take into consideration the repair time with dyson which I did not add.

So argos are not obliged to help me at all and i have no consumer rights with them at all during the 1st year?

No need to worry about that at all.

Take a deep breath and relax. Yes you have rights but Argos also has the right to have the goods inspected to ensure that a fault exists and is inherent to manufacture. If it really is such an inconvenience that you can't go a week without hoovering then ask to borrow one from a friend or relative.

Can you not borrow a vacuum off somebody until yours is sorted? What's so important that you absolutely need your Dyson vacuum this weekend?
