In your case PAYG has an important advantage: it's impossible to spend more than the balance you have. With any contract, even with £1 p.m. the spending is virtually unlimited (e.g. if the phone is lost/stolen and both the phone and the sim are not protected by a password and a PIN).

TBH, I mentioned Vectone only for the sake of arguing when your were so excited about €2 contract.

So the Ovivo one is a PAYG? Sorry to be thick - I'm feeling a bit blinded by science/detail...

Nifty - I really haven't thought this through... I will have to get on to some of the committee members and talk to them about what we will need to use the phone for.

If you do want call divert on payg only a few offer it. Eg www.familymobile.co.uk
  • Many of these discussions are about the cheapest mobile for calling etc. All I want is a PAYG sim card that would be a second emergency phone number. Not worried about cost of calls, what I want is the cheapest over a year to retain a mobile phone number. Any ideas?

Doberryfirkin - I would recommend the Ovivo sim.
  • Thanks Majik. I have applied and waiting for delivery. Seems quite good but wondering if there is a 'catch'?

  • I wish I'd known about how much 3 network charges for the iPhone before I pruchased it with Tmobile. 3 are so reasonable compared to what I am using now and how much extra I am paying.
