Hello!
finally looking for a new SIM-free mobile
I need:- triband(?) for use in Asia & Europe when abroad as I use local SIMs
- camera, basic is fine
- fairly hardwearing
I would like (but not essential):- radio
- music player (memory card)
- a few games
- very basic net connectivity (eg. check emails in emergency, find train times if stranded)
I don't want/need:- touchscreen
- full internet
- smartphone bells & whistles
Currently using my trusty old Sony Ericsson W810i and after 5 years it's beginning to wear out.
I am currently on a good loyalty deal from T-mobile - 300 mins & unlimited UK SMS for c.£6.30 p/m
I'm willing to risk my current T-mobile deal being withdrawn next renewal date and get an unlocked phone as I think there are some pretty cheap SIM only contracts out there? (& I'm happy to hang on to a decent calls-and-texts phone for several years)0 -

And IMO there is a big difference between "don't want" and "don't need" as smartphones are very cheap now.
"Fairly hardwearing" Motorola Defy Mini costs just £60 sim-free at Tesco Direct.

Samsung B2100 Solid Extreme isn't a smartphone, costs £50-£60 and has everything you need, but camera is very basic and internet is 2g, i.e. very slow: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b2100_xplorer-2747.php
If it's far too 'hardwearing' for you, then you have to specify what you actually mean by this or say how much you want to spend.0 -
I don't know what 'basic connectivity' is. It's either full or nothing.

Sorry for being unclear - apologies!
I meant that I'd only want to connect to the internet on isolated occasions for urgent reasons.
by 'hardwearing' I would say avoiding a large screen or touch screen and going for a fairly thick candybar style of phone. Managed to not break/damage this kind of phone over the past 5 years.
Looking to spend below £50 ideally.
Many thanks0 -
