Carphone Warehouse have just started selling the Nokia Lumia 520 for just shy of £80, not on contract. I've never used one myself but I've heard good things about them. Strikes me as quite a good deal but perhaps someone who's used one can elucidate.Hey you gender nectar;

I am very much in the dark, regarding mobile phones. At the moment I have bog standard Nokia (no camera, internet etc), which is on O2 and used only occasionally.
I don't require internet access, but want a tariff, where the calls need not be used within a time limit (month?), so what is the best option for me ?0 -
What do you mean?
On all PAYG your credit doesn't expire, but you have to make a chargeable call or send a text at least once every 180 days.
BTW, this thread is about handsets, not tariffs.0 -
I looked at the link to '3' and it mentioned the need to use within 30 days.
Is there a separate thread about just tariffs, though I may buy a new phone , anyway ?0 -
Have a look at GiffGaff - their credit does not expire and calls are very good value. They also use the same network as O2 so you will have the same coverage as you have at present.0

GiffGaff value is very good, however since I have been with them (about 9 months) there has been 3 service outages that have lasted for several hours including one yesterday afternoon which was a nightmare for me travelling which meant I had to go and buy an 02 sim card etc.
I guess you get what you pay for.
I also wouldn't rely solely on the reviews you read on their website as most of these guys are on referrals.0 -

Any link to this? I am pretty sure you are mistaken.

It's the Add-ons that last one month and then expire, not the balance. Nobody forces you to buy add-ons.0

Shows how little I know about mobiles, but I am a pensioner.:)
I read the page as, first get your phone, then you need an add-on call package.0
