Back again with my plan for today:

    B - Toasted bacon & mushroom sandwich - HEB + 3 for spread
L - LO "rounders" from the other day; broccoli
D - Stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon; mash; green beans; peas - will stuff with Primula Light flavoured with garlic & dried herbs (need to do that shortly so flavour can infuse!) 1 syn for 12g of Primula

HEA - skimmed milk as usual
    HEB - bread
    Syns - spread 3; Primula Light 1

    Denise

PS. Didn't have any broccoli so did Brussels instead at lunchtime. I've actually made up double the amount of Primula Light with garlic and herbs just incase it's needed but suspect not, so syns could be 1 extra.

According to SW the veg in your cooking doesn't actually count toward your 1/3 (can't say I agree). The 1/3 should actually be separate on your plate.

    Denise

I can see that if you separate things out on your plate then you won't forget to get the proportions right but surely whether it's cooked in with a recipe or not can't make any difference? For example, when I make Bolognese it's probably about 70% Speed as except for meat and herbs I have onion, carrot, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, courgettes and celery. And they don't count! Nonsense! I do wish SW would explain themselves rather than just bland, trite statements about nutritionists reviewing the situation.

Morning. I am having weetabix and a pear. Not sure for lunch but chops veg and potatoes for tea.

Do you have lunch at home, take something to work or buy something out bozwood? Depending on the circumstances that could be a danger area for having the wrong thing.

I've changed my mind about going to WI this week. I've decided to take the fact that I'm in target range as a 'bird in the hand' and not risk falling back out of it, as the next few weeks won't be easy to control with many meals out planned. I've had a good week this week but I'm not 100% sure of my syns since DH and I shared that champagne on Saturday. It's so much easier when we have different drinks then I've got a better idea of how much I've had. So I'm likely to be joining the hordes at New Year, picking up my new book and listening to the talk about the changes.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, kippers, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: veggie omelette (spring onion, tomato, courgette and mushroom) with cornichons and ham
D: corned beef hash with broccoli and cauli
    Syns: kippers 1.5, hash 6?

I'll make a big hash with a large tin of corned beef so I'll have some LO for my lunch tomorrow.

Maman I did say I didn't agree with SW with regard to veg in meals! Also agree with you that they just say things but don't explain why!

DH has been told that baked beans aren't good for him as he's pre-diabetic, the only suggestion was to wash off the sauce and have them without the sauce:eek:. This was said to him at his course when it was suggested instead of butter they should have mince! He said he usually has baked beans but no butter and that's when it was said. Can you imagine jacket potato with no butter and no sauce on your baked beans, LOL! It would be so dry.

Have syns to spare this evening so poured a glass of vino to have with dinner and still have most of it left so will be drinking that for the first part of the evening and then back on cups of tea.

My veg is pretty much always in my meal. Need to hide the veg to get hubby to eat it.
I generally prep my veg in to a mixing bowl, ready to add to the dish, and it's a really good way of judging how much veg there is in comparison to the other ingredients

Have been told both that the veg should be seperate, and that it's okay mixed in by my consultant.
If you look at a lot of SW recipes the veg is in the dish not on the side.

Veg is veg, unless it's fried, buttered, etc. if it's on the speed list it is speed no matter what you do with it.

Sauce-less baked beans does not sound nice. My mum has been told baked beans are fine due to the fibre on her pre-diabetic course.

Sorry Denise didn't mean to shoot the messenger. I know you don't agree with it either. kathrynha is right that loads of the recipes in the magazine have the veg in. Enjoy your vino. If I wasn't going out dancing and driving I'd be very tempted to join you. :D
