Hi Denise, yes it's the sweet potato and red onion bhajis:
http://pinchofnom.com/recipes/syn-free-onion-bhajis/
I've been making the chicken noodle broth for months and its great, I add baby corn, extra mangetout and chopped red & green chillies. There's quite a few recipes in the book that can be easily adapted to low or no syns.
I bought the book when I was working away from home and was looking for money-saving ideas when cooking for myself, something which I hate. I don't have a problem cooking when its for Mrs fatrab or if family are visiting, but I ended up eating out constantly when I was on my own.You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

hi all.
First week of SW complete... was a tough one with a lot of trial and errors on recipes.. noses turned up but still dinners were ate and it paid off as my WI today was -5lb.
Truly shocked but pleased, stayed for my first meeting. So will continue to try new recipes and give it some body magic this week. Started last night and still feel it in my legs..
Does anyone have recipes that work well for your family that I can go look up? Appreciate any replies
This week we tried the fajita traybake... was ok need to make more flav with the rice and extra veg on side next time I think.
We also tried SW luxury mac cheese - kids were well put off with the veg thru it as nothing like the mac cheese they had.. but still ate it and later came back for more. Would maybe make it next time minus the leeks and put in sweetcorn?
Also tried sw burgers too.. on wholemeal rolls with salad.
I think the major changes have obv proven good but we just need more ideas going forward... refuse to cook different dinners.0 -

:T Good for you and well done on your 5lb loss, that's a brilliant start.
I don't make that many SW recipes, instead I adapt the things we like to eat to make them SW friendly. This week we've had a roast, sweet & sour chicken, corned beef hash, fish and Bolognese so far.
This is one of my favourite recipes:
https://www.bbc.com/food/recipes/braised_steak_with_gravy_24508
It works just as well with chips or with veg as a roast and if you use Frylight the syns are negligible.
There are recipe links at the beginning of the thread that tend to be tried and tested.
I'd suggest chopping up baby sweetcorn for your next mac cheese as that's Speed.:)0 -
Thanks Fatrab. Will have to dig the cookbook out and have another look - been a while since I've looked at it.
ILMCD Well done on your 5lb loss this week, that's a good loss.
f you let us know what you usually eat and we can suggest ways to make them SW friendly.
Things like cottage pie, stews, roasts, egg & chips etc are very easily converted to SW using Frylight, making your chips, adding extra Speed foods - the vast majority of vegetables are Speed, check your book for the full list.
Also when staying to group, ask for ideas for meals from other members, everybody will come up with ideas and you can either use them or ignore them or just alter them to suit your family.
You've probably noticed already that some of us post our menu plans, if you would like to do the same please do. We'll be happy to point out if anything looks as though it needs to be changed or added to it.
Maman has posted one of my favourite recipes too - the Hairy Bikers braised steak with gravy.
I wouldn't leave out the leeks next time but definitely do as Maman suggested and add chopped up baby sweetcorn and maybe some mange tout as well.
It's WI for me in the morning and hoping it's a loss as I've been under syns this week (I've still got about 10 left but definitely won't be using them all this evening, although if I fancy some chocolate later I've still got some of the Magic Stars left in the fridge (not sure how many are left as I've noticed DH dipping into them a couple of times!). He's actually still sticking to SW and had an amazing loss his first full week of 3.5 Kg (about 7.5lb I think). He's also doing quite a lot of exercise and dragging me along most days, so my BM has definitely increased this week. Another couple of miles walked fast today.

Thank you both kindly.
Well its hard to pin point we eat most things, veg and meats and what have you. Pastas. heavy loaded veg stir fries and we enjoy chilli con carne, part rice/part nachos.. guess its just me that will not be having the nachos! lol
I have took note of the dishes you have said and I will go on the website for the SW versions.
Its easy for me during the day as its branflakes and skimmed milk at mo for breakfast, I am sure I will get fed up of that.
Fruit for snacks.
lunch, wholemeal toast and fry light eggs or snacks of eggs and cherry tomatoes..
Dinners the main brain game.
Good luck for your weigh in. That's a great loss for your other half.
I really need to discipline myself with the exercising, I have been excusing myself because of weather. But the indoor regime on dvd has no excuses but me. So here's to another week! :T0 -

I've been doing SW since July 2010 and this is the first time I've done any real exercise.
Previous exercise has only been gentle walking when we're away in the motorhome! That's not quite the same, is it? Certainly doesn't raise my heart rate and make me very warm (unless it's a sunny day, LOL!).
Thanks for the congrats for my DH.
