NSD 18/15 AFD No 25
Wise words about Christmas as always, Mothernerd.
Not much going on here today. Just washing and ironing, etc.
Himself has a hospital appointment tomorrow - just a routine screening thing. Previously he would probably have cancelled but he seems to be taking his health a bit more seriously now, Thank goodness. A friend has offered to give him a lift as the hospital is a fair distance away so I think I'll stay in and try to get my packing done. Need to sort out some housework before we go as well.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
NSD today - 17/20.
Went to the local theatre for a Christmas show - ticket and raffle tickets were already brought.
The painter/decorator texted me to say he is coming tomorrow morning at 8.30am.
Spoke to my sister. She will be popping down during the Christmas period with a couple of her children for a couple of hours and have a bite to eat. So will not be going to her place for Christmas.
So plans for now is to get a few food bits for myself from M@s. Have been doing surveys so can get vouchers for my spend in the shop. There is a park run on Christmas Day so will be attending that.
Used what I had in.
Self care done.
Did not do any walking.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Another nsd chalked up today and almost everything crossed off the to-do list, much to my relief. Still have a massive frog to deal with over the next couple of days though writing Year 11 reports.
I've spent a lovely afternoon at my mam's house, then watching a Christmas film with the kids. Took the opportunity for more reassurance from my mam about trying the best I can for the kids under the circumstances, and am feeling much more festive than I was before the weekend. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt

Kerry woman - a parkrun on cmas day sounds awesome. You'll be surrounded by like-minded people and be free to choose what you do with your time.
Today I am grateful for a good morning at kids klub, for laughter in the house, for recorded rugby, for having my work secret santa (optional) sorted for about £5 ( and it includes a dvd, hot choc sachets, popcorn, lebkuchen and 11 (!) make-your-own gliders, each one different, as my recipient likes airshows), for arranging a meet-up with an old friend, for mothernerd's great words about cmas (I may need to refer us all back to them next month!), for dd's delight at watching the leaves be blown off the windscreen as we drove along.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
NSDs: 10/15. Next week will be challenging if I am to reach my NSD target, but I am still within weekly/monthly budget and I have packed some delicious homemade leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch which is a good start!
Extra Income: £213.41. Advertised 5 items for sale this weekend with a potential sale tomorrow evening. OH expressed some concern that I might be selling stuff we need. Not yet!
Eat those frogs: Leaving this here as reminderto me!).
Prep my annual expenditure plan. Urgh, this will not be my favourite thing to do, I know it won’t be as bad as it seems and it will feel good to have completed it. But, urgh!IO BTL1 Mortgage was £97,693.54 on 09/08/18; £83,140 on 31/12/19.Sealed Pot Challenge 12: #078: £150.36

No NSD here today, I had to buy computer paper and ink (completely run out of both and need to print some uni stuff urgently).
Bit of a bad day, my gearbox has gone bang (of sorts). Had a breakdown just as I left the house to go out riding. No idea what the damage will be yet as the garage doesn't open until tomorrow, but I've had a Google and depending on what it is it could be anywhere from £300 to £1000 :eek::eek: but nothing I can do about it now, just have to wait and see.
A quick question for MSE people, am thinking of opening a nationwide account as there's one near work and I'll be able to pay cash in, does anyone bank with them and if so are they any good?0 -
Not NSD - went to cinema with DS2 to see Cr1mes of Gr1nde1wa1d with cheap tickets and water, ald1 popcorn and trick or treat sweets from home, so not too expensive
My Thurs and Fri shopping has started to arrive, so Xmas is getting there. Cashback looks good for tracking so far tooHave bought some things for my mum to give as presents, too, so will pass those over this week.

lcc86 I am happy with Nationwide although prefer Halifax who I also use. The Nationwide website seems very secure and took me some getting used to with logging in with a long customer number and another long number. Once that was all sorted at the start and I knew what to do it’s been fine. The options on the website are pretty easy once you’re in there. The branch was great the only time I used them.
3 more NSDs, a quiet recuperating weekend here. Really interested in reading all the thoughts on Christmas. Feeling jaded and not wanting to spend money I don’t have.
Mothernerd, your post reminds me I am delighted I declined the work xmas do nice and early, I feel relieved to have that off the list of worries. Thanks for all your inspiration.0 -
Hi all:j
Another full day out for me today - birthday visit to Harrogate, also very spendy so no NSD today. Did enjoy it although now shattered & trying not to feel guilty for the mess that needs clearing up downstairs. DH has said he'll help in the morning (gas man coming to - hopefully - fix fire).
NSDs Still 11/15
ORGANISE your time. No time at home over the weekend, but treats for me.
VALUES Differentiate between needs and wants. Purchases from show & also some from shops. Pleased with items I got, plus a load of YS from MnS too.
ENJOY yourself. Did enjoy the day today, felt like a treat. Will now spend a week getting up early (!) in prep for DH jury service, starting next week. I'm really looking forward to it - have I mentioned that? He, on the other hand, is not. Not the actual job, but the having to get there & back in commuter time, at this time of year. Not easy or enjoyable.
MAKE an inventory of the food in your cupboards, fridge and freezer at the start of the month. Failed to take food to show with us & therefore paid through the nose for 2 very unpleasant & expensive sandwiches. Lesson learnt..Supper was leftovers plus some YS curries bought today.
BUDGETS should be set before the start of the month. Frog alert!
EXERCISE 4 times a week, 20 minutes a day. Outside with furry beasts. Lots of walking round the show as try as I might I can never find my way round the exhibition centre.
RULES Turtle rules can be difficult at first. Following the plan as best I can.
IN case of emergency Add any items you might need Made a small list but not been shopping yet since we got back from Ireland. Shopping today but no emergency stuff. Will do Tuesday.
NOW is always the right time to start. Best draw a veil over todays' food choices.
NO takeaways, None today
EVERYONE Am DF but always could do with more savings towards experiences or holidays. Have some funds I need to pay back to business account, also for items bought in last spending spree... so need to account for those items by December 31. Pending. Frog.
EXTRA Have a ton of stuff that needs to be sold. Back from hols but not dealing with as yet, after weekend out will do. Frog Alert.
WINTER This week need to finish front door, if it ever stops raining.
YOU should cook from scratch Mixture of HM & YS today.
OUTSIDE Briefly
REPORT regularly I'm here..
KINDNESS Being kind to myself today doing something for me, also lady in lift in MnS gave me her coupon for money off Christmas cards.
Go Turtles !!!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0
