Oh slightly worrisome times. I know I have nothing to worry about as I lived and paid taxes here for 15 years but I just got my application to remain in the UK after Brexit through. Since they call it an application it sounds like it could go either way, which I know won't happen, still nervous.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

NSD 16/15 AFD No 22
Met my cousin for coffee this morning. Haven't seen her in ages (although we do talk on the phone). It was originally going to be lunch but she had to pick her little grandson up from the childminder so another time - probably after Christmas. I hate restaurants pre Christmas. So busy!
Bought a few more Christmas things which I've just wrapped.
Himself was supposed to be going our with his friend but said friend is having a really difficult time healthwise at the moment so it was cancelled at the last minute.
Made a huge pot of soup for dinner (and probably lunch tomorrow). Thanks for the recipe, Plumduff. I'm looking forward to trying that one.
Don't think your application should be a problem, Thrifty but it's something you could probably do without having to do.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Hugs to those in need of one.
Was a spend day. Did a small food top up and got tv mag.
Walked to and from gp surgery through the park. Had to put in a prescription. Also walked to and from food shop. Also asked about the Christmas flower arrangement for my Mum's grave. Said I wanted it for Saturday.
Also done some household chores.
Self care done.
Only have to wash the dishes now. Really pleased with what I achieved today.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130 -
Thrifty - hope it all goes through smoothly.
Today I am grateful for de-icer, for the beautiful ice patterns on the inside of the windscreen, for a helpful work colleague, for lovely students who make me smile, for getting stuff done, for finding a parking space when I needed one, for dd being much better and having a great day at a local museum re WWII, for hot food and a comfy bed.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
NSDs: 10/15. Reverted to eating a BabeeBel which had lingered at the bottom of my handbag for the last few days rather than lose out on an NSD!
Extra income: I had declared one of my ‘frogs’ this month was to advertise 4 items online. I really pushed myself to advertise the fourth last night and luckily it-sold within 30 minutes. This brings me over my target of £200 extra income this month to £203.21. Without this forum, I suspect I would have lost momentum on online sales, so thanks to all here!
Enjoy: Enjoyed complimentary acupressure massage and later a complimentary reflexology session as part of Health & Well Being Week at work today. I was sooo chilled in the afternoon! Enjoyed lovely chat with new girl in our team who talks and laughs easily and has promised to bring me in some of her homemade Indian food!
Kindness: Donated two large bags of toys to charity. An unexpected benefit of decluttering/donating/selling stuff is that it uncovers some really nice things which I thought I had lost and needed to replace! Win, win!

sashanut what an eventful birthday! Hope you manage to celebrate at a later date!
Didn't check in yesterday as I felt really ill, have a stinking cold. I think the worst of it has passed, but I'm not sure. I'm still very snivelly but the head doesn't feel as bunged up.
Yesterday was a NSD but today wasn't - it should've been but I found a black Friday deal on a pair of shoes I wanted, so I bought them. Initially not very MSE but I had a £20 voucher, the shoes were £25 plus 20% off so I only had to pay a little bit plus postage. All in all less than £4 spent.0 -
Wow Saving Glut that is a great earnings total!
Thriftylass - fingers crossed for you x
I am on 20 NSDS, feeling desperate for comfort food now it's getting colder and bleaker out there. Need to get into some kind of gym going habit too, as I have been massively failing with it. Thinking of doing race at your pace in December as it sounds lovely and you can swim which I enjoy.0 -
Hi all:j
Thanks for all the well wishes folks, really appreciate your kindness. I now long for boring...yes boring will do for now. Deffo will try and have another birthday soon. Am going out both days this weekend, one a workshop to learn how to make an evergreen garland, the other is a birthday pressie from DH to the knitting & stitching show at Harrogate, should be fun.
NSDs Now 10/15
ORGANISE your time. Gas engineer coming Monday to hopefully repair dining room gas fire, so started clearing in there as it has been used as a dumping ground - & found loads of supplies, so far including a Christmas pud & 4 big bags of Armagnac soaked fruit for cakes, both bought in the sale earlier this year. Also made spiced apple chutney as we were down to the last dregs of last year's batch. More preserving in the offing as have tons of eggs & lots of fruit that has been bought - but not eaten - by DD so needs using up.
VALUES Differentiate between needs and wants. No purchases today.
ENJOY yourself. Did enjoy just faffing about in the kitchen not under pressure. I will be organised this year...
MAKE an inventory of the food in your cupboards, fridge and freezer at the start of the month. More food used from stores today & very little wasted. DD to shops & predictably bought more food although instructed not to. Think I have brainwashed her into getting the YS bargains.
BUDGETS should be set before the start of the month.
EXERCISE 4 times a week, 20 minutes a day. Not much today although I did go into garden with the beasts.
RULES Turtle rules can be difficult at first. Following the plan as best I can.
IN case of emergency Add any items you might need Will check stocks for next time we go shopping.
NOW is always the right time to start. A few naughty bits eaten including the last tiny bit of birthday cake that DD chose (it was a tiny cake). I'm very fond of my friend but she always buys me a big chocolate cake from her local farm shop - and I don't like it much, neither do the rest of the family. I gave her a large slice, there is about half of it left. I've got it earmarked for a Christmas Black Forest trifle so it won't get wasted, into the freezer it will go.
NO takeaways, None today
EVERYONE Am DF but always could do with more savings towards experiences or holidays. Have some funds I need to pay back to business account, also for items bought in last spending spree... so need to account for those items by December 31. Pending.
EXTRA Have a ton of stuff that needs to be sold. Back from hols but not dealing with as yet, after weekend out will do.
WINTER Front door looks good in its new weatherproof coat and should be good for 10 years according to paint tin. Still need to do a little bit of filling & another coat, but pretty pleased with the result. Too wet to finish front door atm. Paper in downstairs cloaks looking a bit grubby where it has been wiped above the dado rail, have bought a border which I think will cover it & avoid the need to repaper. Also need to paint cast iron radiators, particularly one in front hall.
YOU should cook from scratch Used up some veg in egg fried rice & did sticky salmon with it, used up fridge bits, eggs & very easy to do.
OUTSIDE Briefly
REPORT regularly I'm here..
KINDNESS DH being very good at fixing things, complimented him on his new-found (though late-coming) DIY skills..

Up to 10/15 NSDs, good thing as I'm sure next month will be spendy.
Have had a frog-filled week and have managed to choke down most of them. So will be having a more chilled day today catching up with the mundane stuff. Saturday we pick up youngest's Xmas bike (paid for) and board games and films have been requested
.
Happy Friday everyone0 -
I am utterly unprepared for Xmas.
In a month it will be Christmas Eve Eve.
I have got a list from one of the 4 kids.
Today is ultimatum day - they either give me a list over the weekend or they will get socks and a tangerine,
More cleaning and clearing going on
Conveted all vouchers to Amaz0niaN ones.
Feeling anxious
DH back at dentist getting his stitches out.
Off to find football socks, which have disappeared in the laundry and need to be found before school run. I swear socks are sentient. They do it on purpose y'know.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
