    I have just decided to give up trying to stop playing computer games at the moment and concentrate on self care until the end of the year. I am making myself feel guilty about it. Just have to get through the next few weeks as it is a very difficult time for me emotionally.

    I was going to tell you to stop beating yourself up about it. Being kind to yourself is part of this month's rules. Hugs.

    Update for Tuesday (as I fell asleep before I got to it!).

    NSDs: 8/15

    Enjoy: Long chat with OH.

    Extra income: Sold a small item on FB and earned cashback on item reduced in Black Friday sale. £195.21 to date.

    Kindness: Offered a colleague with a cold some Lemsip.

    Eat those frogs:
    Advertise [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 3 items for sale online.
    IO BTL1 Mortgage was £97,693.54 on 09/08/18; £83,140 on 31/12/19.:D

  • XSpender: sorry to hear about the redundancy situation :(

    Kerrywoman: I'm if the opinion that in difficult times you need to do whatever gets you through, as long as you aren't harming yourself or other people.

    Mothernerd: hope the bath helped your aches and pains.

    Have been preparing for payday by catching up on some of the FIRE blogs, there's some interesting stuff there but also plenty of oddities (they really don't like carbs or cats!). Push ups are good, slightly dodgy and lazy gender stereotypes are in, working for the Man (tm) or watching the news is bad. Balance in all things, as the wise Mothernerd says, but we can all do with being more intelligent consumers and making whatever money or assets we have work for us rather than the other way around. Lots to ponder :).

    Lost my NSD yesterday as Eldest needed some school stuff and some bread and other bits slipped into my trolley.

    Budget is completed for the coming month, still no magical extra cash has appeared but I have set another chunk aside for Xmas, and topped up my home and EF pots. EF needs a bit of love due to an unexpected annual bill, so any spare cash is going there this month rather than the CC.

    Pension meeting today - wish me luck! Saving into a company pension more or less regularly is one of the few things I got right financially at a young age, but I have no idea how any of it works. Now I'm nearer to retirement than graduation I ought to pay more attention.

    Xspender so sorry about the job, especially this time of year.

    NSD -14 today.

    Budgets- going to look at them all tomorrow after my big shop.
    Enjoy- played hide & seek with my kids.
    Report-- here.

    I am wearing my charm bracket today as a rainbow to remind me to just breathe. A full time job, a 2 & 3 year old & a hub that's never here means I can get very overwhelmed, I need to chill out. things get done eventually. :o

    Day 21

    Instead of focusing too much on a To Do list, I'm starting a To Be List

    Things I want to be
    Happy
    Calm
    Loving
    Healthy
    Awesome

    Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand by the fire. It is the time for home.
    Edith Sitwell

    I am not what I have done. I am what I have overcome.

    Life is a bit like a party.
    You invite a lot of people, some leave early, some stay all night, some laugh with you, some laugh at you, and some show up really late.
    But in the end, after the fun, there are a few who stay to help you clear up the mess. And most of the time, they aren't even the ones who made the mess.
    These people are your true friends in life.

    Celebrate each milestone achieved, or even any progress made.
    We are very quick to beat ourselves up when we don't do something, but not so good at recognising what we have done.

    What do we mean by Recovery?

    For most people with a severe mental illness, recovery is an ongoing process. Since the illness is not likely to get totally resolved, there will be ongoing management of the condition. Recovery is the process of reclaiming one's life. As with other difficult events in life, people learn over time, to adjust to their challenges.

    Recovery is about
    * finding one's place in the world
    * attaining peace of mind
    * establishing relationships with friends and family
    * discovering opportunities to grow
    * finding happiness

    Recovery is not
    * a cure
    * freedom from symptoms
    * an end to challenges
    * the elimination of relapses
    * life as originally planned

    But it can be a good, if different, life.

    No we don't need more sleep. It's our souls that are tired, not our bodies. We need nature. We need magic. We need adventure. We need freedom. We need truth. We need stillness.
    We don't need more sleep. We need to wake up and live.

    Adding a bit of rainbow inspiration today. The lagom was about work life balance and I don't want to make anyone cry. Some of us are just treading water atm and when you are struggling the you don't feel that there are choices, you are stuck on the treadmill.

    There are alternatives but for you, now is not the time (even though it is important that you think about it sometime).

    I also had a joke that made me laugh out loud but I was wary of offending some turtles (to be honest it was equally offensive to atheists and those who have religious faith) and it was quite sweary as well - and now I can't find it. But it was funny.

    Will do Work / life balance another day but skip over it if you need to, don't throw things at the laptop (or throw the laptop).
    My mission in life is not only to survive,but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Hello everyone :)

    XSpender - Sorry to hear about your job :(

    NSD - 5/15 Don't think I will be getting my 15 this month :o

    ORGANISE - House is a bit messy and working today. When I get home I'm gonna snuggle with my son and watch Iggle Piggle and when he's in bed I'm gonna tidy the kitchen while my dinner is on, relax on my PS4 for a bit and then have a nice relaxing bath before bed. Will also make sure to write a meal plan for the week ahead and shopping list.

    VALUES - Used extra money from FB sales to buy most my xmas shopping and a new coat.

    ENJOY - Day out with my little boy and mum yesterday :) and had playdate in the morning. My son is with his dad for 3 days this weekend (longest he's been away from me :() so tomorrow will be a mummy and son day :)

    MAKE AN INVENTORY - Done and will be using this to make meal plan and shopping list this week. Update it when I use things/add things.

    BUDGETS - In OD again but only £25

    EXERCISE - None today.

    RULES - :D I'm getting there.

    ICE - Just need to pop another blanket in the car and some water.

    NOW - Trying with SW.

    NO - Having to buy lunch at work today.

    DEBT FREE - 11.12.19!!

    WINTER PROOF - Heating will be on low and extra layers. Need to stop falling asleep with heating on.

    COOK FROM SCRATCH - Not really the last few days, need to meal plan and will make lots of healthy, homemade meals this week.

    OUTSIDE - Was out all day yesterday, none today as working all day.

    REPORT - Hello! :)

    KINDNESS - Have put some bits up on FB for free, if they don't go will donate to charity shop :)

    C xx

  • On the winterproofing front, I finally made it into the loft and I even delved into the cupboard under the stairs :eek:. Result: hot water bottles, 2 winter coats, my Xmas jumper for staff lunch and a nice blanket for the front room.

    No spend day today. Full of the cold but there is worse. Had left overs for tea last night from the freezer and I think the kids will have LO again today and we'l have pork stroganoff after DH's training.

    Did my food inventory and shopping list and started my Asda order. We'll have family round for a big dinner on Saturday but we'll keep the spend low by making a beef bourguignon (in SC with cheap brisket) with crusty bread and a lasagne. DH wanted to make a fancy curry, with spiced onions etc etc but not everybody will eat that, it's a lot more hassle and it's more expensive.
    Might make some Italian lemon sorbet for afters with the lemons I have left over from making limoncello. The drinks were actually the most expensive item in the basket as our guests like lemonade, coke and juice whereas we just drink water or diluting juice. Plus still alcohol to buy. I guess I could see that as our Christmas dinner expense as we'll save that this year by being away.

    Might tackle another area in the house to declutter tonight. Trying to do one little area at a time and work my way through the house.
    DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/25
