Inspiration for Day 8 and Day 7 (of 9) belatedly

    SIMPLE FORMULA FOR LIVING
    Live beneath your means
    Return everything you borrow
    Stop blaming other people
Admit it when you make a mistake
Give clothes not worn to charity
Do something nice and try not to get caught
    Listen more, talk less
Every day take a 30 minute walk
    Strive for excellence, not perfection
Be on time. Don't make excuses.
    Don't argue. Get organised
    Be kind to unkind people

Let someone ahead of you in the queue
    Take time to be alone
    Cultivate good manners
    Be humble
realise and accept that life isn't fair
Know when to keep your mouth shut
Try to go a whole day without criticising anyone
Learn from the past. plan for the future
    Live in the prsent
    Don't sweat the small stuff
    It's all small stuff

(Could take issue with some of those, but as usual, take and adapt anything useful, discard the rest)

Money can buy a house but not a home
Money can buy a bed but not sleep
Money can buy a clock but not time
Money can buy a book but not knowledge
Money can buy you food but not an appetite
Money can buy you friends but not love

These are great mothernerd, I've copied them and shall enjoy reading them. Thanks xx

    Hi all :j

Just a quick check in this morning as I am on hols so using the iPad whilst listening to DH snoring

enjoyed just catching up on all the posts, will try & post properly this evening
No more NSDs to report as yet

Still getting over having to get up at 4am off the ferry & drive down here from Dublin, quite an experience

Have a free day today as DH conference session not till this evening - so can go exploring - providing he wakes up

DD coping so far with getting up at stupid o'clock & dealing with all the animals, not easy. Pleasure in her sending videos of the cats antics as she tries to use the bathroom- he's not used to being on his own all day & definitely tries to tell her - and one of the dogs joining her in the bedroom as she'd not fastened the baby gate securely :rotfl:

well F0xh0les as a working Mummy of a 2 and 3 year old, all tips on how to best prep for my day ahead are ALWAYS WELCOME and not only do I get ahead with the day by getting up earlier but also I have time to wake up, before I hear "Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy" and so I am less grumpy. Thank you!

Today is NSD number 6- hurrah- aiming for 8 this week,
Values/Budgets- I have set up a savings account to put money in that I am given for the kids, often people give me a couple of pounds for them, and it is easy to lose track of what they have got to spend off people, so this account is for that. A recent birthday and some money off my Mum means there is £100 in there now, I need to buy bike helmets for them, but the rest can just stay there. This can also be their spending money for when we go to Butlins etc but ideally what I want is for more to be going in than coming out and building a small saving pot for them.
I currently have about £139 left to spend for the month and then pre budgeted spends in my saving account (fuel etc )
Emergency- I am trying to build up a decent store cupboard that will see us through the tighter weeks and when hub is away so I don't need to drag the kids round Aldi!
Have fun- play group tomorrow and then collecting leaves for a collage in the afternoon!

Not much else to report, chugging away!

Another convert here. No idea how I managed to just get up with the kids for the last 6 years. Now getting up before them is crucial for their survival :rotfl: and my sanity. And I'm kinder to my husband once he gets up (the one that gets up 10 min before we leave the house, and then tells the kids to hurry, we'll be late).

Finalised my Asda order again a bit last night and improved my pantry/freezer/fridge inventory list. I think I will be over budget for next week as almond milk is on offer and I'll stock up, I also will get some bigger cuts of meat and a treat (a duck) that will last us more than one week but will cost more this week.

Also transferred some money from the Christmas savings as I added 5 bottles of vodka and 42 lemons  to the order to start making limoncello for everybody's Christmas present (kids excluded ).

Hopefully another SFD and a swim at lunch time.

On a late shift today so will get my post in nice and early today.

NSDs - still on 4/15. So far today I have paid the electricity/gas bill, bought travel tickets for going to Glasgow at the end of the month, bought OH's big Christmas gift (a new jacket) and been to the supermarket.

Organise - not done yet but this morning I plan to organise all the paperwork that is in a huge untidy pile on the table.

Exercise - I've been out in the garden clearing all the leaves.

Thrifty I was going to warn about the fartiness of the Jerusalem artichoke, but it seems there is no need! A shame as I love them roasted.

Foxholes I have been known to hide crisps and other lunchbox goods to get through to the end of the week.

Mothernerd If you are growing squids might it be time to get back to the GP? Chest infections are not to be messed with, and you don't want to end up with pneumonia.

In MSE news, I had a spend day as needed a top up shop and some DIY materials in my quest to fix the washing machines. Was all set to take the pump apart with the help of YouTube, but the first thing I fixed turned out to have been the problem. Ah well, at least I know have some pliers to hand which I'm sure will be useful for something.

Squid has gone back to sleep. My first thought was a crab, grasping hold of me but then thought of tendrils shooting out. I have a medicine review soon, so am jotting down symptoms/ side effects (dizzines and whole arm/ leg tremours are more worrying atm).

I have had the annual flu jab and had the pneumonia jab several years ago - that's why I have to keep telling myself that the odd day in bed is not so bad. The doctor warned me that without the jabs I was facing a month in hospital if I caught anything serious.

Also mum always used to tell me I couldn't have pneumonia because
1 we couldn't afford anything new
2 members of our family generally die of it the second time they get it (I had it when I was 18 months old, in 1959 at the height of one of the hottest summers on record).

Today will be NSD 4 as I will park in supermarket instead of paying hospital parking fees, fill up water bottles from the tap for Xcountry after school (last .one!!!!)

Kindness - taking another mum's kid with me to X country as she can't do early pick up but will meet us there.

All food from stores, general tidying up and the kitchen looks like a bomb bas hit it.
    Will prioritise that today.

You mean they don't just stand there, looking idly at the room in front of them and expecting the said item to jump out at them. I always set the clock 5 minutes fast because we would inevitably get to the front door and the youngest would be shoeless, Also lined up books, pe kit etc by the front door (on top of the radiator), when I came across them.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Lovely inspirations today, Mothernerd. Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Thankfully the weather improved this morning (although it's raining again now) so I walked through the park, collected Himself's prescription from the Health Centre and his medication from the chemist. Also booked my flu jab for next Tuesday.

Whilst I was out I bought some things we needed - veg, bread and milk and took the opportunity to get some chocolate and sweets from Aldi for Himself's Christmas presents. Amazing how many sweets you can get there for so little and it's all lovely. Just need to find a sneaky way to wrap them without him catching me. It's all in my spending diary now.

Managed a few small things today but nothing big. Will try to make up for that tomorrow.

Thrifty - How do you make limoncello? I love it. I'd like to try to make some.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

I've been using this recipe for the last 4 years, super easy. Just some hard work zesting and juicing the lemons. I'll be making 7 litres this year (growing in popularity as a gift).

Thank you, Thrifty. I think I'll have a go at that. We're not drinking at the moment but it would be nice to have a small glass at New Year as a treat.
