Off to a better start today. Got the refund for or damaged front door and am now only £500 away from debt freedom.

When I told DH later that the money had come in, he asked excitedly: ooooh, what are we going to do with it? Erm, pay it back to where it came from, it's not extra money.

Shhhhh! Ignorance is bliss. No way I would tell :D Congrats on being £500 away from DFD:j

    Right.

Yesterday turned into an unexpected NSD as YS bargains were abundant!
Today will be NSD3 as I have come back from the school run, and counted the crisps and drinks and fruit and I have enough to do till the end of the week for lunchboxes.

I have a open day event at a local college tonight for DS1 - he needs to choose what he wants to do and start thinking about A levels and where does them. He can't see why he needs to think about it now. Last minute Lenny. Grrrr. On the plus side, it will be YS time on the way home.

    Hello lovely turtles.

NSD-Today is a spend day- booo - so still on 5. However, we needed food. I did use a money off voucher and a free delivery trial though.
Organise your time- I got up early again, I think F0xh0les suggested this, as a way of getting a head start on the day before the kids get up and I think it is working really well. I managed to do my ironing & clean upstairs before the kids got up, which means I have less to do once I get home.:j
Values/Budgets- my refund came through from Tax free Childcare, this has now been allocated to various pots- some of it has gone to hub for his xmas prezzies and some of it has covered the Butlin's deposit. I was planning on paying for these things in December so now the extra cash in December will be paid off the car. £98 left in the budget, but I have done a fairly big shop. Hoping just top up groceries now :D
Made some mince pies last night to stick in the freezer and I have added a few more xmas bits to my shop for tonight. It is really only fresh bits now that I need to get & 3 more gifts for other people.

I think that is it from me- I hope you all have a good day- :D

Anyone ever tried Jerusalem artichokes. Got a bag given by a friend (leftover from a cafe kitchen). So I tried boiling them and added them to my lunch today but they just tasted like soapy potatoes. Anyone know a better way to prepare them. Don't want to wast free food :)

I call one of my pupils Myrtle. Cos he always moans when I mention a time limit on a task, or homework. The poor dear had to have the reference explained to him by the rest of the group... but finds it quite funny now.

I have had them in the dim distant past and I think that I used them in veggie stew - though I may have had to add sausages to get dh to eat it! Google may have better ideas.

Tried google and will try some recipes found there, just wondered about first hand experience with the taste  Think I'll try roasting them.

    NSD 7/15 AFD No 7

Yet another awful day here weatherwise. I feel as if I haven't been out of the house for ages. I have been organising my time, though. Another kitchen cupboard cleaned and decluttered and some smaller things done. It seems when I tick one thing off the list I add another three but, at least I'm identifying things and getting them out of the way.

We were invited to a buffet party on Christmas Day but I've declined as we really just want to spend a quiet day together. I've been honest about the reason.I hope the person concerned won't be offended. I don't think they will be.

I really will have to go out tomorrow. Himself had some blood test taken last week and apparently he is deficient in some B vitamins so the doctor has left a prescription for him to be collected from the Health Centre. More concerning is a problem with his liver function. I suspect years of socialising in the time honoured way (ie drinking too much) is to blame. So much socialising in his circle of friends seems to have involved alcohol and now they are paying the price in one way or another. I am glad to say, though, that he is taking it on board cutting down drastically. Fingers crossed he keeps it up. He does seem very determined.

So tomorrow is another day and another cupboard. My kitchen is going to be so organised and sparkling at this rate (I hope!)
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Slice tubers into 3cm pieces. Mix olive oil, thyme, garlic and sea salt in a bowl. Toss artichoke pieces until coated. Place on a raosting tray and roast in a pre-heated oven 35- 40 minutes until tender.

Not abandoned you turtles. Woke early and took my pills (before 8.30am by the car park), dozed off and re-awoke at half past noon (DS3's words). Meant to go to crafts but struggled to have a bath and get dressed (cough is back, chest feels like I have a squid inside shooting out evil liquid).

Went out at 3.15 as far as the library. Handed 2 books in, found the one I need to continue DS1's new home sampler (had checked the catalogue before I went). Needed a sit down as soon as I got there and another before I set off again.

Crossed the square and the crossing to post a letter for mum, then walked down a bit further, crossed back at the other crossing (was originally going further), lost my NSD stocking up with yoghurt and cup a soup (also have mandarin jelly with mandarin pieces - was ashamed to confess to buying them on Sunday but they have been wonderful).

Had a broken trolley so went all the way across the car park, stopped to rest then decided to continue (discovered a while ago that broken trolleys do not activate when the are taken out of the car park. Took my coat off so that I could sit on the church wall (wet and muddy). Pushed trolley home (one stop to hang onto a temporary fence behind the library), then sat down indoors until I felt able to come back upstairs.

I have books, I have sewing and I have soft food - I'm not moving for the foreseeable future. I have put in a request for DS3's Goth Bunny, been told there are plenty of plushies around (but they are all in the room with the sleeping Beloved).

Will do inspiration later or double up on another day.

Today I am grateful for being out when it wasn't chucking it down, for having lots of places to rest on my short expedition and for soft food that slides down easily.
