  • Morning all :coffee: :hello:
I'm pleased your heating is sorted 1LL - I've woken up to snow this morning so definitely in need of heating at this end. I'm shocked as it was such a lovely day yesterday, and still 16 degrees on Thursday. ;)
Sorted through my budget yesterday - it is dire. I really, really need to get this mortgage stuff sorted. Had a bit of a difficult conversation with ex yesterday to try and get things moving. However, I'm not sticking my head in the sand about it - looks awful but at least I am aware of it.
Today I would love nothing more than to stay indoors and watch tv with the kids. However, I have a tutoring session this morning, and I need to go into town this afternoon to pick ds up after football. He stayed at his dad's last night. In between that I need to get ready for work starting again Monday and tackle some budgeting.
  • Morning all and happy weekend! :j

Thanks for the pesto tip Dawn and BB - am excited to test it out!
Determinednewms - hope the shift goes quickly for you!

Right better go and find out whats up with the two boys as they're bickering again..

1LuckyLady - such good news about the heating. This comment really made me laugh! DD1 and DD2 are exactly the same - I’m surprised I get anything done with all the time I spend as mediator between them!! :rotfl:

    Plans for us today are:

    1. All meals from stores. DH brought free food home from work last night so dinner is sorted and gives me a break from cooking :T

    2. Heating off. Have brought in plenty of (free) wood for a fire later today if it feels like we need one. Isn’t it supposed to be getting colder this weekend??

    3. Already phoned DB1 about getting new tennis rackets for DD1 and DD2 from the tennis club (good quality and pretty cheap at £15 each). Need to also give DB2 £50 for tennis lessons. DDs used to go to club lessons but timing was inconvenient once DH switched to night shifts. So instead DB2 (qualified tennis coach) gives them private lessons at family rates (£50 for 10 hours a month). Cost of lessons and rackets will be taken from Xmas pot excess rather than from accounts to keep our bank balance on the healthy side!

    4. Check survey sites x 3

    5. General housework and tidying for family visiting tomorrow. Very pleased that grocery shop yesterday accounted for the extra mouths to feed and yet still came in under budget! :T

    6. Try and get some paracetamol into DD3, who is currently feeling miserable with a horrible cold and mild temperature. Have listed it because this is likely to take at least half my morning - she sees it coming and then runs and hides!

    7. Continue decluttering attempts. Today’s mission is DD1’s bedroom. Will probably only get about half done - DD is a bit of a hoarder (no idea where she gets it from! :rotfl: )

A lovely day to all! :)
Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

    Morning all :)
    Brr frosty morning here
    So far I have:
Put a Caribbean beef curry in the SC. Trying out a new recipe :)
Found a youtube video for OH to top up the boiler. All went according to how it should, seems ok...

    Still to do:
    Check banks and update spreadsheet
Renew subscription / membership to a local attraction
    Pay milk bill
    Soup in fridge for lunch
HM cake / scones or fruit for treats
Mash and freeze 2 black bananas for a future cake
Some cleaning -must do this today!

Heating is on I am afraid - can't risk freezing pipes in the loft conversion - wondering if it would be more cost effective to just have an electric radiator on up there..... Most of the CH radiators are turned off at the valve as they are never used. For the majority of the time, only the loft conversion radiator, the bathroom towel one and the small radiator in the airing cupboard are in use. Occasionally the living room and kitchen, rarely the dining room, and never the first floor bedrooms, hall or landing. Hmmm...
  • Morning all :hello:

We're back from being away having had a fabulous time. I've already been to the shop today armed with a list and some washing has been done and on airer. Made a bit of an error when we went away as I put a function on the fridge that wasn't what I thought it was. Resulting in some lost food, annoying to say the least. However, as we ran things down so well it was just a couple of jars of sauces, most of which were out of date and some chorizo. Still annoying though as a loathe food waste. On a positive note I now have been able to clean that shelf in fridge and it's nice and shiny :A Other things:

Finalise meal plan for the week
Prep some of the roast we are going to have tomorrow as we are needing to go in to town tomorrow morning
Defrost some stewed apples for crumble tomorrow
    Cleaned bathroom
Pack away all holiday cases etc so we know where to find them next time
Get dd to do some homework
Catch up on some tv tonight with DH under a blanket :D

Have a good day everyone. Purps.

    Hi,
My stress levels are a bit wobbly again today, but have a few frugal bits & pieces to report:
*mr f embarked on a 20 mile bus journey to garage as they decided we could have a courtesy car given that our car repair is complicated & taking ages. This has saved us car hire fees for next week as need to get to funeral (90 miles away) & mr f has work.
    *Sorted laundry off heated airer.
*Changed bed linen & towels & loaded into washer for cheap overnight laundry.
    *Mixed up a sourdough loaf.
    *Listed 10 items on ebay.
    *Entered a prize draw.
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Christmas present for B-in-law arrived. Managed to find it with £6 off.
Am treating myself gently for the rest of the day. Snuggly rug & hwb at the ready plus book & cat. Just going to update my dfw diary with an 'Eh?? HOW much'? I've just seen on tv shopping!!
    Cheers all,
    F x

  • browneyed_girl I thought I'd commented on the pesto situ - I just put the lid on the jar and bung it in the freezer. I'll generally use 1/2 a jar at a time so that works for me. Less faff and admitted my standards are low :rotfl:

  • Ughhh, awake in the middle of the night again. Not ideal, especially with the hour change. But in theory it gives me an extra hour later for a nap :rotfl:

Today will be about getting ready for the week ahead as we get back in to a routine, with a few other bits thrown in:
DH going to give blood. Taking smalls so they can see how important and not scary it is
Get one small a cub jumper, aiming to use a voucher I got when I signed up to something
Request another £25 voucher that came yesterday for something else I signed up for
Call utilities provider and see if they intend to provide me with a bill any time soon [eye roll], review progress of utilities swap
Check for surveys, do one that came through the post for £5 reward, could do it twice so did one yesterday
Portion up squash and chickpea curry I made yesterday
    Make some snacks for lunchboxes
Get some Yorkshire puddings out of freezer for roast as I made a double batch last time
Get banking straight post hols and move money to right pots
Reconcile just for points credit card

Have a good day everyone. Purps.

    Hi October Overthrowers,

Morning!:coffee: It's my w.e.e.k.e.n.d. :j And not a moment too soon after the 'exhilarating' day I had at work yesterday. :p

My list will grow as inspiration strikes. ;)

Woke up this morning to find the temperature had dropped indoors by 10c over what it usually is in the sitting room. Scotland, thou art cruel! The sun came out. It's cold, but sunny.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * Had a payrise, update finances spreadsheet going forward. Done.

    * Check loyalty points. Done.

    * Clear emails. Done.

    * Read meters and sumbit readings online. Done. Billing website is offline, had to use the automated phoneline instead and I can't check the exact balance of my account because their call centre is shut on Sundays. Have submitted an online form to get an answer through their Facebook page. Sigh.

    * Driving to local RSPB reserve. DW will go into watch the birds and get a concession. I'll get my folding bike out my car and go for a free cycle along cycle route 7. Done. Both managed to spend nothing in the RSPB visitor centre.
