    Afternoon all :)
Babysitting today but DD came back early as she was on a training day :T Baby had a good sleep this morning, allowing me to check banks and update spreadsheet, spoon a half jar pf Thai curry paste into ice cube trays and freeze (it doesn't keep for more than a couple of weeks in the fridge once opened, but freezes well), and clean out half the fridge :rotfl:
Walked baby down town in his pushchair after lunch as he was getting grizzly - kept him quiet and free exercise for me.

I have taken the dog out, and will have leftovers for dinner - OH is away till tomorrow night, or possibly Friday.
I will finish the fridge and clean the bathroom radiator / towel thing, and zest and juice some sorry looking limes for the freezer, but apart from that I will take it easy tonight :)

BB did I miss a major change in your life? Nightmare re the electricity but kudos for having such long extension leads :T

In a nutshell yes. My parents have finally decided to relocate about 100 miles to be nearer me and my Sister, we live in the same town. They have sold their house and are living with us whilst they look and buy a new place. They now have our largest bedroom, formally know as the room of doom. It is an unusual shape, 1 section is set up as a generous double and the 2nd section is set up as a small sitting room, complete with tv, DVD player, hard drive recorder, Wii etc plus kettle and accompaniments. The room is also ensuite which gives them some privacy, well it would if the children weren't popping in and out all the time. We are living as one household which means plenty of help with cooking, my Dad & dd cooked dinner the other night, washing up etc. My Dad is also reading to them both at bedtime, ds very rarely has a story these days but any excuse to cuddle up to a grandparent.
The problems with the electrics didn't phase them at all, the biggest issue was the boiler was off as well, so no hot water. We discussed what we would do if the electrician didn't manage to fix it on Monday and the answer was we would go to my sisters.

Regarding the extension leads, OH is kicking himself as he saw a longer one a couple of weeks ago at a good price and talked himself out of buying it. He is now keeping an eye out for 1 but is considering a 2nd, price dependent.

  • Morning all :coffee:
I'm reporting in with plans for the day because I know I'm more likely to get stuff done if I make a list and become accountable. I had a reasonable sleep last night and am feeling a bit better than I have done all week so I'm making the most of it. I'm out with bestie and the kids this morning but I need to do some jobs I've been putting off:
Pop to Mr S for pizza
Make appointment at the vets for 2 cats
    Plan next week at school
Enjoy a catch up with bestie
2 loads of washing (if I can)
Think that's it. Sorry for the short check in but I'm going out in half an hour and still need to have a shower and get dressed.
  • Morning all :hello:

We're having a relaxing day after a super day yesterday where we walked our solks off :) had porridge for breakfast (bought our oat tub with us) and just enjoying a brew. Was planning a run but need to wait for the fog to go first :o we will also be using the swimming facilities on site that are included in the price.

I'm going to do one last small load of washing as it seems to have been drying well all week even though it's been inside on an airer :T

We are going to go out for tea, which will be a nice treat :D we'll also be using the reminder of the food in the fridge, so it'll be a bit of a mixed bag for lunch :rotfl:

Have a good day everyone. Purps.

    Hello Frugal Friends,
Thanks for all you supportive messages & communications over the past few weeks. Much appreciated. Am back home for now & thought I'd focus better if I kicked a daily list in:
*Marzipan cake for funeral - baked large fruit cake myself as expensive to have an iced cake made to order.
*Start thinking about a meal plan for next week.
*Think about best way of paying large car bill which is shortly coming our way after a big scary problem a couple of days ago.
*Pay another 4 x 50ps into my sealed pot.
*Ask mr f to carry 2 heavy parcels of books downstairs for Ziffit collection tomorrow.
*Load washer & set timer for half price overnight laundry.
*Dinner from freezer tonight - the last of the meatballs I batch cooked during the height of the courgette glut.
    *Bake a granary loaf.
*Update bullet diary for next few weeks as I try to get back to normal.
*Liaise with sister over progress re selling 2 big items which belonged to Mum. Sales agreed but not yet pick-ups.
*Fetch chilli strings in from greenhouse. Almost dry, a couple of nights over a radiator should help with this.
And......try to get my stress levels down. I did sleep better last night but have only been averaging 4 hours per night for a while & it's not nearly enough.
    Love to all,
    F x

  • Good morning all!

Hi foxgloves  I’m new to the site, but from reading your last post I just wanted to say that I’m truly sorry for your recent loss. Make sure you take the time to look after yourself :)

Haven’t got much planned for today (DH back on night shifts tonight) but will probably manage...

    1. All meals from stores. Need to make a topping for the apple and raspberry crumble, which will then last us 2 days. Still smiling because of the free apples and also used raspberries that came from our garden, meaning it’s cost literally pennies! :D

    2. Check survey sites x 3

    3. Free activities with children. There is a free toddler group on Thursday mornings in the village which I will take DD3 and DS to. Then everyone to the park later if the weather stays nice. DD1 and DD2 have their half-term homework to finish today so hopefully this will keep them quiet whilst DH rests.

    4. Laundry on line to dry.

    5. Dig out a few items to list on auction sites. DH has at least 10 branded shirts hiding in a cupboard that he’s barely worn for a start. Don’t think he’d even notice if they were to miraculously disappear... :rotfl:

    Have a lovely day everyone!

That sounds like a fab idea Dawn - will definitely be doing this! Do you know if it works for pesto as well? I only buy it when it’s on offer and I have a coupon, but I’ve had to throw out 2 half jars recently (grrr...hate food waste!) because it just doesn’t seem to last and we only fancy it occasionally.

  • Morning,

Work was quite tiring yesterday. There is such an atmosphere at the moment and it's really affecting my moods which are already quite low. I've pondered what to do over it and I've decided I'm going to speak to my manager about it as I'm becoming unhappy and dreading going into work. Some people try to dictate how the place is run and undermine you as there senior.

I went round to my friends after work last night and had a quick catch up. She is a bit worried about me at the moment and wants what is best for me. At the moment I don't know what that is. As I was leaving I noticed she had some books and she has learnt me one to read.

So I've spent all morning reading and I'm enjoying the book. I forget how calming and relaxed it makes me feel.

I've my consultant psychiatrist appointment today and I'm not sure how that will pan out. There are clearly a few things I need to address and get some clarity on.

I'll most likely finish off reading the book this afternoon. I don't have to pick up the boy until 4 as he has joined choir at school. Another thing to add to his list. He makes me so proud and always tries his best. He never gives up.

And that gives me reason not to give up. I may be feeling blue but I have a purpose and he is that.

I'll have to pay for car parking today and I'm going to take my car for a wash. If I'm feeling up to it, I may hoover it out myself.

    That's pretty much it though.

We freeze pesto if we don't think we will finish a jar before it goes off. We freeze it either in ice cube trays or I open freeze spoonfuls on a tray and transfer to a box once frozen.

Yes, you can freeze pesto - in fact I make it to freeze, I currently have both basil and rocket pesto in the freezer. The kind in jars freezes well too. Any kind will need a stir after defrosting :)

Woke up with a migraine / headache this morning, took medication, took dog out, showered and promptly went back to bed :o
Got up and had a couple of crumpets for lunch, and had to walk into town to pick up Christmas turkey crown order from the butcher. The fresh air / exercise helped, and I do feel a bit better now, though don't feel like doing much. Not sure if OH is coming back tonight, but if he does, there is leftover lamb casserole in the fridge for him. If I feel like it, I shall have an omelette and salad.

Received a questionnaire from Ipsos Mori, to take part in a spending survey in exchange for a £15 shopping voucher. It seems rather a lot to do for £15, but as I keep records of spending anyway, it is not much extra work for me. Filled in the first part (a long questionnaire) and will start the spending diary part on Monday.

Still haven't finished cleaning out the fridge, zesting and juicing limes or cleaning the bathroom towel radiator, so hopefully I will get at least some of that done this evening.

Fridge and limes done, also made a loaf in the BM, to which I added poppy seeds, which I found in the larder when I did my inventory. Not sure why they are there, but I will use them up one way or another :D Also did a load of washing ready to peg out tomorrow. Still not tackled the radiator though :o

It is really cold here, and I have lit the stove, but avoided putting on the heating.

OH was late finishing his activity so decided not to come back tonight. I therefore ate his lamb casserole for my dinner :D
