I've unsubscribed from loads, it's more when I do venture into shops! TBH I think I just have a lower tolerance for advertising nowadays, as we rarely watch live TV and don't go to shopping centres much. It's the supermarkets' ramping up of Christmas tat already that makes my head hurt...determined_new_ms wrote: »merida act now and speak to people about not giving gifts and instead organise a get together - maybe a nice winter walk with a pint at a pub/meal at a pub so everyone just buys 1? Or I know Dawn does a secret santa with her family - 1 gift up to a maximum of £50 and that's all. Get everyone involved in the family network
Or do what I do and don't get for anyone! I get a small something for madam and a couple of bits for my dd - I've picked up a lovely lamp in TK Maxx, am making her a patchwork quilt and a pair of socks and that'll be it. I'll probably buy my son stuff for a mega cooked breakfast from a quality butcher.
It's the get togethers that are the stressful bit! We live across the country from both sides of the family (they don't live near each other either, and bits of my family don't speak to other bits). Would happily pay to send each branch a hamper and then just hibernate at home :rotfl: Oh well, it is really a very minor gripe in the scheme of things - there are many MANY worse things than feeling smothered by familial attention :rotfl:0

            Morning,
I definitely didn't want to wake up this morning but had to as the boy had football at school this morning. At least I am up and awake now.
Yesterday was a spend day. I went out for afternoon tea with my friend, took the boy to new football activity which he enjoyed and then I went to the supermarket for a couple of bits and bobs. My windscreen wash was empty so I had to buy some and top it up. I probably paid more then I usually would (pre made screen wash) but I was desperate for it as my windows were very dirty. I think I am going to further dilute down what I have left as it seemed very concentrated.
I have work later on, so today will be a NSD. I have no planned spends and do not need anything else. I will take some lunch to work with me.
I quickly cleaned out my car this morning and have got rid of any rubbish that was in there. I just need to empty my boot now and find a home for things in there. I will put that on my to do list for tomorrow.
I have put a wash load on to keep up with the washing so it doesn't all build up. I have washed a couple of the boys jackets and will go through his coat collection and donate to charity, ones which are not needed. I will also do the same with my own coats as there are some I do not wear anymore.
I have checked my online banking and all is up to date regarding that. I haven't yet made any other repayments towards my credit card this week but the plan is to review it at the end of the month and see what money I have leftover.
Tomorrow I shall take my car to the car wash. I would rather pay £5 for it to be washed then spend at least an hour doing it myself, where I get frustrated because I don't get it as clean and it takes me much longer. I hate cleaning the car. I don't mind the inside so much but it is the outside that bothers me. It is going in for repairs over the weekend so I will raid the car fund for that.
That is pretty much it really.Chandelier.

            Morning all :hello:
Having an amazing holiday, much needed
I've managed a few gifts from independent shops for Christmas which is good and will come from relevant pot when I can get myself all straight at the weekend when we're home
Today we're off out for the day, tickets were not cheap but we got a discount due to where we are staying and it's the only 'day out' spend for the week. I've done a picnic and will take drinks with us
Another load of washing just done and will hang out before we go out
I've checked banking to make sure all ok but going to do all the shuffles at the weekend
Checked a statement that came through for something
Enjoying the beautiful scenery where we are, we're so lucky in this country as to how many gorgeous places there are.
Have a good day everyone. Purps.0

merida me and my DD feel exactly the same. We would just love to stay at home and do our own thing. Having to play forced happy families and our family is very broken in the first place is very hard work and we don't enjoy it.
Unfortunately as much as I've tried and dug my heels in about presents, both friends and extended family for their kids just will not budge so that is one of the reasons I buy throughout the year, as I always come across bargains that make ideal presents. Thought is still put into the present, i wont buy for the sake of it and I quite enjoy bargain hunting. I set myself a budget and not a penny is spent over. It also means i avoid all of the Christmas stress, advertising and i cannot think of anything worse than shopping in a crowded shop, with pushing and shoving (being in a wheelchair i have been hit in the face by a basket before now) the cold, the sheer misery of it.
We also buy extra bits for a charity auction to donate to at Christmas throughout the year
Not much is going on here. Having to behave with health which is boring.
The car has gone in to be fixed from being hit from a year ago-insurers are still trying to sort this out.
Slow cooker is being put to good use. Came in from a meeting last night forgot I had put a casserole in, it was so nice to come home to.
Back on the RM surveys so will save the stamps to send Christmas presents and charity items.
Still trying to declutter and really need to be packing up the living room more for decorating.
Popping monies away for decorating, paint and bits are already bought
DNMS glad to hear it keys were found okay
 Cant think of anything else.
Have a great day everyoneDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

            Morning all :coffee:
I have a new fridge freezer It's very glamorous looking - but am trying to forget that I need to find the money to pay for it as soon as I can and just enjoy it for the time being. Quiet day yesterday, waiting in with my bestie until the fridge arrived, and lots of associated cleaning, defrosting of the old fridge, cleaning the floor and walls behind the old one. We watched a bit of tv, and I had a doctor's appointment to discuss my renewed anxiety. Back onto my medication short term.
Went out last night with a couple of friends from work - it was a good night out (on a school night) and I feel a little bit worse for wear this morning... Today should call for lots of relaxation but dd wants to go shopping. :eek:Not giving up

That sounds absolutely awful! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that would like to hibernate though! :rotfl:
Update from yesterday:- make a meal plan done
 - start sorting a "big shop" list started, it's overwhelming
 - finish off online study module done
 - book in to some gym sessions done, going tonight
 - walk dog not done yesterday, took him this morning though
 - do 5-10 mins of yoga or meditation or SOMETHING to calm down done
 - text local friends re drinks soon not done
 - text non-local friend re coming to visit not done
 Today's list:
 - text local friends re drinks soon
 - text non-local friend re coming to visit
 - gym later today
 - sort online shop
 - spend some time tackling the state of the dog, the groomer is coming on Saturday but I'd like him to be reasonably knot-free so she can spend the time on a thorough bath and summer-undercoat-strip-out (well, what's left on him rather than on my carpets anyway).
Hope everyone is having a good day 0 0

            Afternoon folks!
Didn’t get a chance to post yesterday as was out for most of the day, but good points were:
 1. Visited family for lunch. Stayed later than expected so children were also provided with dinner - family are wonderful and always have extra food in because this happens a lot!
 2. Only spends were planned - £15 fuel plus £3.61 at greengrocer for onions, leeks, peppers and chillis. Also picked up last few Xmas presents (all funded by Xmas savings pot) with only a few foodie presents to make closer to the date. Rather unexpectedly, we are under budget for Xmas spend this year (which was already set at £120 lower than last year) by at least £70 and we still have nearly £500 in the pot! Anything left over we plan to put into my ISA
 3. Managed a few surveys in the evening and able to cash out another £10 :T
Today is a home-sorting-out-housework sort of day. Plans are:
 1. All meals from stores - making full use of lo in fridge.
 2. NSD - don’t seem to have many of these so I’m determined!
 3. Have been refunded £11.99 for item bought online last week. I know logically that it’s just my money coming back but I always get this feeling of “ooh, free money!” when it appears back in my account!
 4. Check survey sites x 3
 5. Prep free apples from neighbour for crumble for tomorrow’s pud, plus extra into freezer for another day.
 6. DDs to be kept busy with arts and craft sets that they seem to collect hundreds of for birthdays/Xmas. I think today will be Pom Pom fairies, charm bracelets and mosaics
 7. General housework. Have already done one load of laundry, cleaned bathrooms, washing up (including 4 plastic bags, Dawn :rotfl: ) and tidied up garden. Lots more to do so best be off!
Have a fab day everyone! Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship. Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

            List from Monday -
Tonight after work I'm going to start bagging up all my coins. My local corner shop gave me money bags, they love taking change off me in exchange for notes :-). Should have over £100 there, which will pay off the remainder of christmas presents I've still to buy.
 I bagged £113 of coins! :T
I've started making my list of what I still need to buy for Christmas, this money should cover everyone bar DH, so I'm pretty chuffed with this!
Also applied for a 0% credit card today to transfer my two balances over to if accepted. Over 2 years at 0% interest, means I can set up a direct debit to clear it off before the 0% ends. Fingers crossed!
Other than that I'm trying to do a washing a day to cut down on the mess upstairs, and do housework every night. Slowly realising that a messy home equals a messy mind, it's something I need to break out the habit of!0
