Hi Ian,
Can you please give me some advice on buying a replacement bathroom suite.
Do you recommend buying from a DIY centre or from a plumbers' merchants, and are you able to recommend a reasonably price suite that will last? What are the pros and cons of a steel bath over an acrylic bath?
Thanks very much.

Hi Ian, I recently had a plumber round to fix a leaking pipe in my cellar. To do this he drained my combi boiler first then he fixed the pipe (was only a small drip around a seal). Sinec then I have noticed that one of 2 of the radiators do not heat up fully and the hot water does not always come on. I have drained the radiators as best I can (it took ages) but now no more air comes out. The boiler is about 8 yrs old apparently. There were'nt any problems before he drained it!! Can I do anything??
Thanks

Ian, your a brave man to take this lot on!
I am fitting a new electric through-flow shower. The instructions say that water pressure must be between 1.5 and 10 bar. Can I reasonably assume that domestic mains pressure will be within this range, and if it isn't safe to assume this, then how can I check it without a manometer?
Thanks, Guy0 -
How do I get a better flow in the upstairs hot water tap? Is the only way to lift the cold water tank to get a better head?0

Hello Ian,
Can you tell me what to do about a cistern that won't flush? It does sometimes but other times it seems to need priming. Very Frustrating...and noisy!
Thanks for taking this on.0 -
Hi there, Ian - a couple of questions please...?
a. are macerators any good - would you recommend installing one in lieu (loo!) of the disruption of installing a new soil pipe and foul drain run?
b. I'd like to install an ensuite shower room (WC, shower & basin), but want to have a wet floor situation. This means that the shower waste will be lower than the WC pan outfall. Is there a macerator that can accept this configuration, or do I have to raise the shower tray?
Very many thanks
Dawn

Oh Ian, I think you may live to regret your kindness.
Our shower of 4 years has stopped being hot. Super pressure, but completely cold. Do we just replace it, or can we do something about it?
We are adding radiators to our solid fuel central heating system. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
KarenI ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Hi Ian,
my boiler was very noisy and, in fact, has stopped working. Apparently it needs "kettling", what does this involve and is it something I can undertake personally?
Thanks - TinyT0
