As above, them proceeding is to be expected. That doesn't mean they won't still withdraw the claim prior to the hearing itself (after they've seen your witness statement) ... sometimes (!) common sense prevails and they withdraw to save them any further expense such as the cost of a rent-a-legal to attend the hearing.

So my hearing date has come through - it will be while I am on holiday - just to compound the joy.  So just need to get the witness statement etc. together for what I hope will be the last stage of this grim journey...

In your DQ you should have specified any dates when you are on holiday or unavailable !!

You could ask for a new date by emailing the local court

Whatever you do, don't just shrug your shoulders about the fact the hearing is on a day you are away on holiday - that's an almost certain loss if you don't make an 'appearance' (more than likely a telephone hearing, but you don't want to be hanging around for a telephone call while you're on your hols!).

Follow @Redx's advice and contact the court immediately, don't let it drift.

Thanks - when I filled in the form the time away wasn't booked.  But TBH I'm just going to do it on this date anyway - it is by telephone so can be done from anywhere.  And having the matter settled will probably improve the remainder of the holiday :-)

If/when you have the scammer's WS, please post it here. Make sure you show us all of it including exhibits and evidence, especially the alleged landowner contract. ONLY redact YOUR personal data. Upload it to Dropbox or similar and post the link here. Please tell us if the scammers have redacted anything.

Are you confident that you will have access to a landline or a good mobile signal at your holiday destination?  Alternatively the court might decide it will be via video link (don't come back from the hotel pool in your Speedos with a beer in your hand if it's one of those! 😄).

That should be ok.  I thought you might have made a spec booking, taking a gamble on the country of visit being allocated a Green rating. 

Hove sounds good though - there's some half-decent PPC fighters living in that neck of the woods! 😊
