His opening offer was £12.50 a week - which he thinks is quite generous

The accounts dept at work have told him that they don't expect him to pay tax until next March so he's got £1166 "pocket money" to play with every month.

I think you know where we are all going with this, Jacks, don't you!!:D;)

Jacks you're too soft on him! If he's getting £1100 a month he should pay you at least £200 & I'd go for £300 myself if youre doing cookng ironing etec. If he doesent feel the pich there'll never be incentive to leave plus if he wants sky & you & OH want rid of he should pay or it should go, simple as that! Go on girl you can do it!! Tough love its called & he'll thank you n the end. Also a reminde that he lives in YOUR house, not elsewhere wouldnt go amis and will remind him that some things never change...you could also use terms like "you use this house lik a hotel" to ensure that the age old agruments/statements continue!

I know I know! Thank you honey. :D Can you believe it, but in my house I'm considered "the hard @r$e" :rotfl:

I negotiated interest freezes and new payment terms with heartless financial institutions so you'd think I could handle a smelly teenager huh? :p

Just need to check one thing...

Is it obligatory to hold a rolling pin and wear a house coat and rollers when I say "You treat this place like a hotel!"

(or was that just my mum's unique take on the role?) :rotfl:

Oh yeah honey. I think I get the picture. And I'm very happy to have the back up. :T

And just to add insult to injury he gets a chunky payrise in January so when he does start paying tax he won't even feel it.

    Cheers sweetie,

Oooh I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you present him with your new payrise off him. ;)

He's a cheeky so and so!! :rotfl:

 That's not bad PaP - bless you. :T

Did you have a bit of a wrangle sorting out the amount or were you able to agree quite easily?

Well... I've already told him that I think his keep should be proportionate to his take home after tax.

Do you think he's realised that that would mean that as his wages increase so does his household contribution? :D

    I bet he hasn't. :rotfl:

    Aww bless him.

It's not as if he's got a choice poor little love.

His grandmother is "shocked saddened and horrified" that I would even dream of taking money from my own children as she never did no matter what.
But as we know I'm a hard @r$e so tough titty!
Maybe my son could go and live with his granny??? I might suggest that to her if she keeps carping.

no not really, mum said £30 per week no budging/haggaling that was it however i later found out my brother was paying less for a bigger room so i got the bigger room :rotfl:and he had to pay the same as me. Its quite good really because on a 5 week month i get a week free :D however i dont 'pay' mine normally as i pay for bt phone/internet which is £65 per month however my internet connection is only £25  and then i give mum £100 but it goes on debt repayments tll january then i will keep it and put it into savings for her :D
