No NSD yesterday for me. Found a dress, belt and cardigan in the charity shop for €9 so spent that and my shopping which came to €26. Was quite a boozy night though (just drinking at home) so I feel a bit jaded this morning. I really do feel sometimes cold turkey is best, but peer pressure is too strong. I have no willpower. I didn't really drink to excess so it could have been worse, but I only felt good last night for the first hour or two of drinking really.

Today I've bought some hair dye and will go to a couple of language exchanges which will cost me a few drinks.

Need to make a decision about next week, everyone wants to go to a club which will be pricey and i don't want to drink. Need to save money to see my sister and spend some time out of Madrid.

    NSD today - 22/20
Went to Park Run, walked it in 56 minutes and 19 seconds.
Had a really bad night's sleep last night so just mainly resting and chilling out for the rest of the day. Too much on my mind regarding Mum's anniversary, moving and some other plans for next year.
Have made an enquiry about one of the things I want to do on my bucket list. Asked if there is any places on the package tour in April 2019 to Memphis.

  • Re food tech, I am v thankful that DS's school asks for a contribution up front - £15 to cover all ingredients. And as he loves food tech, he is v organised about taking containers and checking in re any extras.
  • Lots of love to you KerryWoman - it must be a tough time coming up for you.
I've had a busier day than I would have liked but it has kept my mind off the fact that I'm going back to work on Monday. Tutoring this morning and a couple of hours in town this afternoon with dd while I waited to meet ds and ex after football. Just now home in time for dancing and lots of tv. Also looking forward to my extra hour in bed tonight - not that I am the laziest human on the planet or anything...:rotfl:

Kerry Woman - you've a lot to deal with. Hugs. Hope the Memphis trip happens for you.

Shrewbie - peer pressure's tough, isn't it. Can you avoid the pricey club by saying that you NEED the money to do things with your sister? And could you do a dry 28 daysand tell people and therefore be accountable to them for not drinking? And I had no idea that Madrid had ch shops! I au paired there many many moons ago - on Principe de Vergara, in an appartment next door to the Portuguese ambassador. Looking back, it was reet posh!

Ccl - hope the snow wasn't too bad.

F0xh0les - how was the wastenot fair? Sounds awesome!

Today I am grateful for seeing big sis, that she caught the planned bus and therefore got the early train to see some friends, for finding rugby on terrestrial tv, for snuggles on the sofa with dd, for dd's plans to become an employee of sy1van1an families making clothes for them, for finishing off some reindeer and robins (no more bunnies until I've completed my other half-done makes).

    Hi all,
Spent today at the large shopping mall in Kent. Did a reccie for Christmas gifts in b00t$ but as they have a points event next weekend I will wait to buy until then. Had a voucher for my birthday so bought a new dress. Also bought fuel with 10p off per litre voucher from Tesco.
Had a minging headache when I got home and couldn't be bothered to cook, so had cheeky fish n chips for tea (didn't eat the batter - like that makes any difference!)

  • NSD - I've not spent any money today so that's me at 13/15.

CHALLENGE - Did really well with the healthy eating and then finished a packet of honeyed cashew nuts. I suppose I could say nuts are health and honey is healthy so it's not that bad - I don't know that I'll get away with that excuse :o

ORGANISE - I changed over the lightweight summer curtains for the heavy winter ones. It's so cosy now.

EXERCISE - After lunch went for a 3 mile walk. It was so beautiful and sunny although really cold.

CHRISTMAS - Nothing today but hoping to write lists tomorrow.

BUDGET - My car insurance is due for renewal on 2nd November. I got quotes this morning and have chosen one that is £25 less than my renewal quote and also includes roadside assistance. I then cancelled my AA membership. I've had AA cover for 17 years and never used it once but Sod's law if I don't have it I'll then break down :(

Having a nice evening watching tv and knitting xx

I think I've had a good day, on the whole. No snow here but it went icy cold in the middle of the night (I had to go and shut the windows and curtains). Had to hunt for extra layers of clothing (lots in the wash).

Progress is slow, very slowbut I am goint forward. Cleared all the cardboard boxes out of their room (at least 12), sorted more stuff into recycling and rubbish, built the inevitable pizza box pile. Several small bags of rubbish in the black bin plus the chinchilla litter - chinchillas had been cleaned out and the litter bagged but then it had been left in the front room and had a small tear (so most of the litter is in the bin, rest will go when everything else has been moved).

Started washing up, big kitchen bin emptied and all the takeaway junk (paper, polystyrene, moved from the stove and worktops). Found 2 bags of bags, filled another with coat hangers and brought them back upstairs. The washing I did at mums at least 2 weeks ago, which I specifically asked them to put on the radiator to dry, was hidden half way down the couch under a pile of other things (had already found one of my towels on the floor in their room) so is now drying (surprised it did not stink).

I've also made inroads on the craft pile - being collected at a civilised hour tomorrow. Down to sorting out various categories of paper and then will have a rummage through buttons and sequins (plus found oddments that belong in the bags already sorted. Keep adding more things - it's easy to let go if it's going to a good home and will be used. Definitely the right time to take a step back and concentrate on the really important projects.

Today I am grateful for being able to stay inside in the warm, for making more space, for starting to feel in control of my own home.

foxholes how can people not love a tagine or a slow cooker?! They're my go for anything and everything I can get away with! :rotfl:

Today was a NSD. Went to the gym for a class only to find it had been cancelled, so just did 30 minutes on the bike instead. Will try the class again next week. Other than that I just did some life admin, some trustee work, cleaning and studying before settling down in front of the TV. Already in bed as I have an earlyish start tomorrow for volunteering but I'm sure I'll wake up extra early, always do when the clocks change. Weather looks foul tomorrow and I'm outdoors all day. Ah well.
