    :T :T Congrats to Littlemisskatcat:T :T

Just confirmed it all at work - I've got Friday off and I'm going to London with two of my best friends. We're taking in an open top bus tour, hoping to see a show and going to a sushi restaurant. It's all for my birthday too! I'm paying my own way, but just the fact they thought about going means so much.

    I can't wait:j :j :j :j :j :j :j :j

Got such a busy week this week - seeing a friend or two tomorrow, lunch with another friend on Wednesday, possibly heading to London on Thursday, in London on Friday and school reunion on Saturday night. Sunday - huge hangover!!!:D

I'm so happy. I have the best friends ever! I'm so lucky

    Afternoon all

congratulations Littlemisskatcat and condolonces to Mrs Flittersnoop and hugs to anyone else who needs/wants them.

Once again christmas is taking me by surprise - funny that as it happens on the same day every year. Dd and I made the cakes yesterday - 1 big and 4 small and they are safely wraped up ready for feeding. poor dd was so looking forward to licking the bowl out until she saw the brandy go in and then she declined even though i told her there wouldn't be enough to affect her. :)
I have worked out that I need to knit a sock every day to reach my target  so am knitting like a loon as well as trying to keep up with everything else. I have also worked out that I will be £25 a week better off if I go back to working full time all things taken into account - not sure what to do - if it was a bit less or a bit more then the decision would be easier - I like mondays off but it seems an expensive luxury now - sigh

Hi, just got back from the village and having a coffee before I do an early lunch so I can have a snooze and still get some work done this afternoon.

CONGRATULATIONS, LILMISSKITKAT - another baby for us all! Keep us all up to date and take care of yourself.

PATENTGIRL - my youngest (25) moved into his own house with his GF just before last Christmas; it is so strange when the last one goes. I still miss him (and my eldest who left home when he went to university at 19 and he's 36 now!) but it's great when they visit. They're both doing so well which makes me really happy. Once you've had children, certain things are never the same. 3.30pm on a weekday will always be 'home from school' time for me!

CRAZYCHIK - hope you sort your fridge out soon and that nothing else breaks! Well done on all your sales - you must be thrilled.

LUXOR - hope you don't get another powercut. I think it's a great idea to buy essentials for the third world instead of pressies in the workplace. So much more rewarding; I love the idea of being able to buy a farm or a rickshaw and enable someone to make a living from it.

ELONA - I'll check out the 'free rice' site. I click on the hungersite which buys rice and other things like books for the third world. All these things will make such a difference to people. My eldest son worked in Zambia a few years ago and he couldn't believe how happy the people were, yet they had nothing. When he was packing to leave, some of the local men wouldn't let him throw away anything - they kept his old razors and other bits and pieces and treated them like luxury items, which, to them, they obviously were. He left feeling very humbled, has never forgotten it, never complains and is grateful for everything he has.

CHURCHMOUSE and ANNIEBOOKLOVER - I think we probably all know someone who died too young when they had looked after themselves properly, not smoking, drinking etc. It makes you wonder what it's all about, doesn't it?

MRS FLITTERSNOOP - so sorry about your friend. ((((hugs))) to you and to her family.

SCUZZ - what lovely friends. They must think the world of you. Just enjoy yourself - love will sneak in when you're not expecting it. It did for me!

I've got the radio on and Jeremy Vine has been talking to someone connected to the fire brigade. I haven't seen much of the news over the weekend and just feel so sad about the loss of the courageous firemen in that awful warehouse fire. I'm thinking of them.

    See you all later.

Oh made bread still looking for the best recipe
    Have a good bonfire night
  • Congratulations to Littlemisskitkat on your wonderful news. Congrats too to mrs mix and haribo on your wins - and catowen too! (Cat you did win the laptop, didn't you or am I dreaming it?? :o )

Mrs flittersnoop condolences on the loss of your friend. It must be a consolation that she passed so peacefully.

Boss phoned me after the funeral. It was a very emotional event for all concerned. Not surprisingly, he isn't sure if he will return to the office today. I don't think he should.

The tickets for Bill Bailey have arrived! :j DS will be sooo pleased. I'm sure he will be comparing our seats with those of his "friend", Amanda. Just to see who has the best view of course. ;)

There are roadworks at the bottom of my road so I have to go on the school run extra early to make sure I'm there on time. Byeeeeeee (as Aussie would say :D )

    back again!

Ive got DS1 girlfriend coming over tonite and also having something to eat. I have a chicken casserole in the SC, but have also made a Lasagne as reserve in case she doesnt like that!

Ive also had a go at Rachel Allen's Afternoon Tea Cake (aired on BBC1 Sat)
Well as per usual (with fan assisted ovens:rolleyes:) the cake has taken half the time to cook and abit too cooked on the outside and not risen as much in the middle. Her recipe says 180 deg for 30min-1hr - mine was on 150 for 30 mins! but it tastes ok  Its so annoying when they don't come out like they are supposed to:o Rachel's was lovely, golden and risen in the centre and a vision of loveliness of course:rolleyes::mad: even rachel said she doesnt like to use fan assisted for cakes - so i agree there!

So DLB fan assisted can be a b*gg*r !!!

Just watched that Open Gardens prog on BBC2 (anyone see it) WOW what a fab garden those people had!!! somehow I dont think they'd be interested in my "postage stamp rural london garden":rotfl::rotfl:

Congratulations Littlemisskitkat:T I have typed yr name in baby pink in honour - OH!!!! that implies I think its a girl now doesn't it:o

Crazychick - your cat avatar looks just like my son's cat - so rare to see a cat with one white and one black ear:)

    Thanks
