    Morning everyone:hello:

Cold and autumnal in Worcester today. Worcester Warriors cancelled their fireworks display last night due to fog, hope it might be rescheduled some time this week as it always spectacular.

Feeling particularly upbeat today as I had some lovely comments on this board and via PM over the weekend. I'm just chuffed there are people interested in the same things I am (food :D ).

I'm off to Tesco as soon as I've got rid of the kids and then it is a warm day spent pottering in the kitchen with Harry Potter in the CD player ;) I shall probably spend quite a bit of time on here :D

Kids are having a breakfast of leftovers. DS2 and DD are eating leftover breakfast pancakes liberally doused in golden syrup and DS1 is eating leftover gooseberry and raspberry crumble and cream :o well, it is mostly fruit and he doesn't need to watch his weight.

They've got pizza bread Catherine wheels in their lunchboxes today (I usually call them whirls but with the date and all...),plus hm gingerbread and apples.

I'm planning smoked mackerel, onion and potato hotpot for tonight. Need to use up a bit of single cream so that can go in there. Some carrots and green veg with that I think.

Baking today will be banana and choc chip muffins.

Hope any poorly peeps feel better soon.

  • Good morning everyone! Bit frosty out, but I love these crisp autumn days.

We had a lovely day in the garden yesterday. Mowed the lawn (small bit to finish later), swept up leaves, picked apples. I'm going to prepare and freeze soem of the apples, and make some pies, and a tarte tatin. A friend at w*** had a birthday last week, so I'm making her a coffee and walnut cake.

For any of you who didn't catch the daily yesterday afternoon, please take a look at this thread.

Have a great day, Penny. x

Good morning everyone. Pink, I hope you rest up once you get home from the doctor's.

Baby seems to be fine after his bronchiolitis. I can't believe how quickly he's bounced back. It's only taken a few days. They said last time it can take weeks to shift. I don't think he'll need his inhaler today.

3 year old starts in the 'big class' at preschool today. It's more structured and an extra 5 hours per week. I will hardly know what to do with myself! He's growing up so fast.

    Have a good day everyone.

DH has made 'breakfast bread' which seems to consist of adding dried fruit and butter to pizza dough, folding it over and baking it in the oven. It smells wonderful so I'm off to tuck in in a moment.

  • Good morning everyone

Congratulations to mrs mix on your win and good luck to amie and shez on your comp entries.
Pen-Pin sorry to hear you're feeling bad again.
((((hugs)))) to everyone having trouble sleeping.
mioliere I got DS and DD a latrine and some chickens last year - well, you know what I mean. :D I think I may look into Mary's Meals for them this year. £5 will provide a lunch at school every day for a year for a child. Families in extreme poverty will send their children to school to get this free meal but the REAL bonus is that children can work their way out of poverty because they have an education. A really simple but effective idea from a very small charity.
    Belated birthday to jannyannie.

On my own in the office today. Boss and his wife are attending a funeral. The chap who died did everything right - didn't smoke, didn't drink much, visited the gym regularly, ate healthily - but still managed to succumb to lung cancer. He was only 46 and left two young sons behind. Very sad.

The decluttering of the kitchen continues. Managed to get rid of a load of old crockery yesterday so my cupboards are looking much better. Will do some more tomorrow when I am off.

Have a marvellous Monday all. xx

'Breakfast bread' Take a ball of pizza dough and roll it out then cut it in half. Dot each half with butter, sprinkle with raisins and chopped dates and sprinkle with brown sugar. Fold each piece over on itself (like a calzone) sprinkle over a little more sugar and bake for about 15 mins.

The panasonic recipe for pizza dough makes 4 of these and they are delicious.

    Good Morning All

Been a busy wk end. Helped OH with car boot! Made about £75 profit. Plus out of 36 items which ended on ebay, I sold 23 of them, making nearly £284.

My mum is loaning me the money for the house insurance excess, untill the paypal money clears. Hopefully, they will be replacing my new cooker this week!

My fridge/freezer door fell off its hinges yesterday whilst OH was food shopping with the kids. I carefully put it back on, and waited until he used it, so it fell off for him! Looks like that needs replacing (and no guys - I didn't kick this door either)

After the food shopping OH spent the day in bed, he was sick 4 times. He's not gone to work today!
Ive left him a list of job which need to be done if he's up & about!

DD went to a Swimming birthday Party last night!.

Amie - Shaun Slater better than Ian Beale any day. I dreamt of of that Liam Connor on Sat night! (from Corrie) - Good Luck with the Competition.
Pink - (((hugs))) & CONGRATULATIONS for the 8000 posts!
Pen-Pin - glad to hear you was feeling betetr y-day! Hope you soon pick up today!

Well, that's the first time that's happened to me. I typed a long post and it's disappeared!

ANNIEBOOKLOVER - I've not heard of Mary's Meals - I'll have a look later, thanks for the info.

PENPIN - hope your day gets better.

KYLE - Hope you feel better soon.

GINHAM - glad the baby is getting better so quickly - it's such a worry when they are so young.

    PINK-WINGED - well done on 8000 posts!

SCUZZ - glad you've given yourself a good talking to! You are a lovely age (yes, I was 24 once, many many summers ago) you should make the most of it.

JANNYANNIE - Happy Birthday for yesterday!

PAM - you are right about this cold. I'm saving the gym until tomorrow when I'm not so busy. I've done loads this morning already and all I can think about is having a doze so I know I'm not really up to it. Hope you are feeling better. Congrats on your win, by the way!

Well, DH left for work at 7 so I've had a shower, cleaned the bathroom, tidied the bedrooms, sorted the airing cupboard, put the WM and BM on and clered away the breakfast things. The chicken breasts are still looking for some inspiration so I'd better look through my recipes. I need to nip out to village later, then do some ironing and some paperwork.

Anyway, off to hang the washing out - looks like another lovely day here. Hope it's good wherever you all are. See you later.

DLB - I found the best thing about a fan-assisted oven is that the temperature stays even all over the oven. I can put four trays of cakes in and they all come out at the same time; I used to have to juggle all the trays around because they would all finish at different times. Once you've got used to it you won't want to go back to a conventional oven - as others have said, you need to watch the timings until you get to know it.

SHEZ - you are so right about Anton. He's a wonderful dancer, you'd think they'd want to make the most of him. If I was given a choice of the male professionals to dance with, I'd definitely choose him. He has a great sense of humour and is a real gentleman. He's doing wonders with Kate but it's about time they gave him a celebrity with real potential and gave Brendan a bit more of a challenge. Anyway, rant over!
