  • Sending hugs to all those that need one and welcome ld1980 it is a great thread that keeps me on the straight and narrow.
foxgloves sorry to hear u are not sleeping. Totally understandable with the stress u must be under and I find stress in itself draining. Hoping that things improve for you but not easy. Sending hugs

Not much from me, slowly easing back into work which has so far gone very well.
DD has now gone back to uni, monies spent on extra snacks and food bags for her but didn't go over the top as she has to store it and was concerned about her getting everything in the car.
Noticed her favourite coffees are on offer in tesc@ won't buy them normally as very expensive so will make the most of these.
Have also been using Amaz@n for cat sachets while they have had voucher offers. Has been working out much cheaper plus I don't have to transport, carry them in the shopping.
Banking has been checked everyday. Everything all good, d. debits up to date.
Have been told that my settee and chair order has been cancelled and will be getting a refund and goodwill payment. But have also had messages from the delivery company to say they are delivering this morning??
Still doing my decluttering, very slowly but plodding along.
Managed to have a quick clean of the spare room last night as DD had dumped all of her uni stuff in it all summer. Just sorted and straightened now that DDs stuff has gone back with her to uni-15 dead wasps under the bed, first year we have had a problem with wasps. Going to have a look around today to make sure there are no more wasps
Much colder here today and windy aswell but refuse to put the heating on yet

That's about it from me, have a great day everyone x

Dawn, I love Welsh cakes and aren't Welsh either (the kids are though!) they're so easy to make (welsh cakes not babies..... ;) ) They freeze really well and are nice broken up into vanilla ice cream too :)
I might have to add them onto my to do list for tomorrow!

They dust them with sugar here too which I never bother with.

I'm welsh and I love welshcakes I have a lovely time trying new ingredients - Dark Choc and Dried Cranberries, coconut, salted caramel, fudge, cherries and almonds, swapping milk for baileys etc

So.... this is my first ever on such a forum but well i figured it may be time to face up and maybe get some support / advice. So i had the moment tonight.... my debt has built up to £18k and i rang my bank to consolidate it all into one manageable loan and they said no!. I got the talk of shame that they had given me a loan 12months ago and my debt has increased so they wont lend more. i think what makes it worse is I am accountant so i should be good with money right? how has the debt built up the bank asks.... through sticking my head in the sand, buying stuff to make me happy for a few minutes...living a life out of control. Divorced accountant racks up £18k of debt in 4 years...doesnt look good so i keep it to myself. i already have a second job, I work 15+ hours in a hotel. That money so far has treated me to a new boiler and a car. People ask when i am giving the job up as I have no life...i make excuses as i wont admit to the shame of it i feel. I started by putting some of it on a 0% card but as i sit here now i just feel lost,

    Hi

Dont beat yoursself up about it, I'm an optomist - also in a lot of debt, but I'm not looking back at where I've been I am looking forward at how I am going to get out of it.

I also work two jobs I have a full time job and a part time catering business, its really hard work. I am also entitled to Universal Credit so you may want to try that for some extra income.

Have you looked at selling stuff? Ive been decluttering for months and I've sold loads of stuff, my house is now much nicer to live in and I've made a bit of cash - I've even spent some of it on some nice new things for home, whilst using the majority of it to pay back a Pay Pal debt.

    Chin up :)

  • Wet & windy, very overcast again today, I hope you are all keeping safe.

Foxgloves Please ensure you take time to look after yourself, so you are in a position to support your Mum :grouphug:

1LL and Dawn please could you share your recipes for Welsh cakes. I like them but I have never tried making them. Recipes that are know are tried and tested seem the best place to start.

Dawn :A Thank you for taking the time to reply to id1980 You wrote nearly word for word the post I wrote in my head when I read id1980 post this morning.

id1980 Hello and welcome. Please have a good think about Dawn's post. Continue posting on this thread as well, it is friendly and supportive.

    Today's list:
Turn off lights and appliances when not in use
    Home Educate children for free
Look into accounts paying better interest rate, possibly regular savers
    PAD
    NSD
    B/L/D from stores
    Stick to meal plan
    Update freezer inventory
    RM survey
    DW set to run overnight
    Dry washing on airier
    Make bread

This weekend we are working towards clearing the "room of fun" (a large room with lots of stuff dumped). So far today we have done a couple of hours and are planning on continuing after lunch. Currently at the stage where it looks even worse. I'm hoping that by the end of the day there are definite signs of progress.

https://www.bbc.com/food/recipes/welshcakes_67264 This is the one I use Baileysbabe,

It says "You now need a bakestone or a heavy iron griddle." I just do mine in my normal frying pan :D
