  • Hi,

I too received the exact same quote as everyone else from Harvey's (£1932). I live in a flat and my mains tap is in my boiler room which is behind my kitchen, therefore I suspect getting my own plumber in will cost a hell of a lot more than £291. However, since the minimax and twintec are the exact same machines with a 10 year warranty, I think it makes sense to go for one of those therefore I have asked for quotes from both. Will keep you updated.

Although direct from Harvey only comes with a three year warranty that is parts and labour. The labour will be the more expensive cost if something goes wrong so is worth considering.

Good point Jon, however, the likelihood of the machine dying between years 2 and 3 is low.

Just got my local twintec chap round:

Machine, installation (including fitting a shelf in my boiler room), tap, filter for tap and 1 years supply of salt- £1450. 2 years labour and 10 years parts warranty. This is for the Twintec S4, Harveys quote was for the arc which is basically the same machine with wifi which is a bit pointless. He said he could do the arc machine via twintec for £100 more, don't see the point in this to be honest.

Yeah I was thinking the chance of it dying in the 10 years is low too as it has so little to go wrong so I decided getting labour for three years is better. Parts cost is gonna be miniscule. But its a bit of a gamble is what I thought and was very undecided!

But I got quoted £1750 for a Twintec and paid £1800 for Harvey Arc including a years worth of salt blocks so wasn't much in it price wise in the end and couldn't really decide which to go with.

The WiFi lid is comingas a free upgrade sometime between now and next summer due to parts shortages, but I really don't care, as you say it seems a bit pointless.

Thats a decent deal for the arc to be honest! My quote was £1920, definitely inclined to save £500 and go with twintec in my case.

    To all MSE

I've gone through the process of having a Harvey water softener installed and it became apparent there was a lack of transparency and consistency in the prices they are charging.

Online searches were unfruitful, so this thread aims to do one thing:

REVEAL the cost you have been quoted for a Harvey Water Softener once a sales representative has been round

This will equip people to be better informed of the prices they should be paying and allow people to negotiate a better deal if their quoted price is too high.

Also, let us know if you were able to negotiate a discount either when the sales rep was round or after your 3 month trial.

    TO CLARIFY:

We want 100% confirmed prices i.e. you have actually had a sales rep round and received a proper quote.

This will hopefully be a comprehensive list which will REVEAL the ranging prices we have received!

On the post you should include:

    - What will be provided
    - The price you have been quoted (inc. VAT)
    - The area you are based

    NO-NO's:

We do not want speculative prices nor do we want costs for other branded water sofetners.

This should be for Harvey Water Softeners ONLY.

    I will start...

Provided: Water Softener, drinking water tap (inc. filter), installation
    Price: £1,834.80
    Area: North West London
    Harvey’s HVX BSS 1850 Litre 3 Years 1 £1,547.64

One thing to note is that the item costs you gave doesn't add up to the grand total you gave.

I recently got a quote too and I also got something very similar to you. Initially thought I was getting quoted too much compared to others on this thread but I believe it's because the costs have gone up with newer generations of the unit. Also, I believe currently Harvey do two versions, the standard version is the Harvey Arc which does a max of 56 litres per min and the Harvey HVX which does a max of 80 litres per min.

    My quotes was:
    • Harvey HVX BSS 1850 litre £1,447.64 (down from £1,547.64 due to a publicly available £100 off promotion on all orders)
    • Installation £335
    • 6 pack salt block £0 (although the list cost for this is £33.85)
    • Ex Vat sub total £1,782.64
    • Grand total: £2139.17
    Area: NW London (Feb 2022)

    Hi all,

I received this quote today from Harveys directly:

    • Harvey Arc water softener Wi-Fi Enabled 870 litre - £1278.18 ex VAT
    • Harvey Arc Standard Installation charge - £291 ex VAT
    • Harvey Complete Twist-Lock Filter System - £245 ex VAT but discounted to £0
    • Complimentary Arc Mini Curve Salt Block - 3 bags - £0
      Total = £1883.02 inc. VAT
    Location = North West Surrey

Does it look alright? Is there anyone else I can try to source the same system from?
