Any thoughts/opinions on a reconditioned HV3 as opposed to a new HV4 for about £300 more in total? Is it worth the saving? Comes with 3 year warranty as standard and 18 month interest free option.

The HarveySofteners HV3, MiniMaxM2, and TwinTecS3 are all the SAME machine!!!

    See this link:
    https://twitter.com/mandhirsidhu/status/1193468909384536065?s=21

The Crown is the same too, I believe, however see the 2nd link that purports it to use more water. Saying it’s older generation than HV3.

My Harvey’s Softener flooded itself after c. 3 years.
They wanted £100 call out so I’ve done without, and desperately need another one.

A #MagnaScale pipe insertion just suspends the limescale, not making the water softer.

Kinetico Kube is available from CostCo at £600 and £800 but larger unit is massive. Harvey’s have shown a video to show that Kinetico uses more water to regenerate too, so less efficient.

I ha paid around £1800 at the time, 5 years ago, in Berkshire.
Got a water filter seperate tap too with carbon filter.
I have a great old guy that provides 10 blocks of salt for around £48.
    Basingstoke way.
    “block salt co”
    Barry & Francis 01256 475164
So.... I better get one now then!!
Just done more research since the newer models are out.
British Gas tried selling us the Sumo 1, which is the KINETICO Kube 1 as sold in Costco for £599.89
https://www.costco.co.uk/Home-Improvement/Kitchen/Water-Softener-Filtration/Kinetico-Kube-1-Non-Electric-Water-Softener-For-Households-with-up-to-2-Bathrooms/p/275228 (I looked at Kinetico site which has the Kube 6, and all three are same dimenions and tech spec). A single cylinder machine, which means you have to wait for the regeneration cycle to get soft water again (about 20 mins without).

The next best 2 cylinder machine is the Kinetico Premier, sized at 498(h) x 468(d) x 219(w) in mm.

Harveys HV4, MiniMax M3, and TwinTec S4 are all the same, as previously mentioned. These machines compared to my current broken HV3, are slightly larger (but minimal of a few mm).
    H: 490mm / D: 440mm / W: 205mm. 55L per min flowrate. 17L per regen, taking 30kg salt.
The HVX or Minimax Major, is same cabinet size, but has an additional salt cabinet of equal size.

Pricing for the HV4 /MiniMax 3 is £1000 + vat = £1195 - with install is close to £1700 as everyone has said above. I will only need the £1195, and the installer will put it in. I am going MiniMax for the 10 year guarantee, and because the installer is local, rather than Harveys coming out from Guildford, and limited 3 year warranty which did not help me at all for my product failing at that time.

I hope this has helped others.  Cheers, Xstyle

Thank you for your contributions Xstyle!
I have had visits from Harvey (for a HV4) and a local Twintec provider (TwinTecS4).  I have just requested a quote from Minimax provider.  This company https://www.capitalsofteners.co.uk/water-softeners/ offers machines with several different brand names, so I may get a broader range of quotes. Both quoted prices are similar so differences are Twintec (10 year warranty, local installer, no credit facility) vs Harveys (3 year warranty, national service, credit facility).
Capital Softeners have made an appointment for next week.
We may be able to get a more expensive model that uses less salt, which saves money over the lifetime of the machine. I will update after engineer's visit next week.

We did go for 3 way tap but Harvey price was very high. So purchased from Amazon and Harvey engineer installed at later date while installing the drinking water filter.
    28-July-2020:
We noticed small leak in the HV3 unit fresh water inlet after almost 2 1/2 years of installation. I emailed the sale person who sold me the unit at around 10:45 AM, service team called within short time saying engineer will vist to fix the issue. Engineer came around 2:30 PM and leak was fixed by 3:30 PM same day. Very good post sales service.
We had got the brand new kitchen fitted before installing the Harvey water softner. there is a bulge in one of the panel due to recent leak Harvey engineer said someone from service team will call me to discuss about that...hope they fix that asap.
    Hope it helps!

The rep from https://www.capitalsofteners.co.uk/water-softeners/ visited this week. The more expensive model from Ecowater was unsuitable for the cupboard space, so narrowed options to Harvey's Minimax M3 and Kinetico model.  The Kinetico model including installation, 1 year of softening salt and a hard water tap with filter comes to £1,900 approx.  Kinetico provide 12 months 0% finance, so I think this is the one we'll go for.

    I’ve been quoted today
    HV4 - £1124
    installation - £291
    salt bags x 2 - 0.00
    3 years warranty- 0.00
    total - £1698
3 months trial and 6 months 0% interest payments after 3 months- split in two monthly rental of £41 each and then 269.02

no mention of three way or any other tap. Sorry for my knowledge, why do we need additional or 3 way tap, please let me know
