The Crown is the same too, I believe, however see the 2nd link that purports it to use more water. Saying it’s older generation than HV3.
My Harvey’s Softener flooded itself after c. 3 years.
They wanted £100 call out so I’ve done without, and desperately need another one.
A #MagnaScale pipe insertion just suspends the limescale, not making the water softer.
Kinetico Kube is available from CostCo at £600 and £800 but larger unit is massive. Harvey’s have shown a video to show that Kinetico uses more water to regenerate too, so less efficient.
I ha paid around £1800 at the time, 5 years ago, in Berkshire.
Got a water filter seperate tap too with carbon filter.
I have a great old guy that provides 10 blocks of salt for around £48.
Basingstoke way.

Bought the Harveys Homewater from East Midlands Water for £850 including combi fitting kit. Comes with 6kg of salt.
Plumber cost £900 to install it, including replacing and reconfiguring most of the kitchen plumbing which took him 7 hours. This was because a previous owner of the property did very shoddy work with the kitchen - and more problems were revealed when we ripped out the old one.
Also plumber charged a bit more than usual as we needed him to get started with very short notice, before our new kitchen was installed which would cover up all the pipes and make it more difficult - this meant he had to reschedule another job to late at night.
I don't think a Harvey's/Twintec installer would have done this or they would have charged through the roof.
Salt cost seems to be about 50p per kilo from a local supplier if we order 3 years' worth.0 -
This is so far the best deal that I have ever seen....steven_Bull wrote: »Dear All,

If you live in any of the hard water areas, then you should ideally consider having a water softener fitted in (i moved here from london, and my skin felt assaulted! Friend of mine is from Wales, and she refuses to drink the water :rotfl: gets bottled water from Asda. Don't blame her, the tap water in Wales is Paradise H2O.)
Harvey's is one of the costlier quotes I got at:
£1,854.00 for 1) HV3 softener gear 870; 2) Installation; 3) Drinking filter; 4) Salt x 2bags; 5) 1/4 turn tap chrome; 6) 3 years warranty.
After the sales rep left, I done some more research, and called back.
Managed to negotiate 12 bags of salt, with the water filter (£130) included in for free, for a total of : £1,698.00
Again, this is quite costly, but given their reputation, the warranty, the additional salt bags, and the fact that I can spread the cost over 6 months without interest, it's not a bad idea.
hope this helps

£150 looks like a good deal having seen others paid £266.67 for the 3-way tap - Maybe they are not the same tap? Also thinking of replacing the current tap with a 3-way tap due to the limited space.

Great to see this - Now they have TwinTec S4, which is supposed to be as good as HV3 as per a TwinTec dealer. One thing I am not sure though, Minimax M2 existed years ago and it looks like they never upgraded (especially when we see TwinTec S3 and S4 coming out in the last 3 years).
I think I am probably going to choose between HV3 and TwinTec S4, got quotes very similar to what I see here. The main difference would be warranty - HV3 has 3 years and TwinTec S4 has 10 years (including 2 years labour) . Arranged two free surveys next week and will see ... So far it looks like TwinTec S4 is £150 cheaper with a longer warranty, which is the major difference. Trust the quality of the product is the same. The HarveySofteners HV3, MiniMaxM2, and TwinTecS3 are all the SAME machine!!!

They seem to have launched a HV4. Anyone know the difference between that and the HV3?

Yes, that's a reconditioned unit. Salesman said I'd get the same unit (he was selling the HV4), except it's been returned from a trial, and I'm happy with recycling. But that's not the same unit is it?0 -
Going for the 3 month trial, hope it works out well. Only worried about the 3 year guarantee instead of 10 years from kinetico or others like twintec etc. Kinetico is also at the same price but without trial.

UPDATE
I now have figures from East Midlands Water. Their version of the Homewater uses 500 g salt and 36 litres water per regeneration. That compares with 300 g and 17 litres for a 4th gen. Harvey's softener.
If it regenerates every day, it will use 73 kg more salt and 6,935 litres more water every year. The extra cost depends on where you buy your salt, in what quantities, and especially whether it's blocks or pellets, also how much you pay for water (assuming it's metered). And, of course, how often it regenerates. If you buy a year's-worth of salt at a time and it regenerates every day, you'll pay at least £40 p.a. more in salt pellets or £50 in blocks (blocks are much more convenient). Metered water will cost you an extra £25 or so.
So, if it regenerates every day (it may well regen. less often), the Homewater will cost you £60-£80 p.a. more than a 4th gen. softener. And you'll have to spend more time ordering salt and lugging it around.
