    Afternoon folks!

Big hugs to ziggy and anyone else who needs one

I've been awol while I've been off work but I'm back now. OH and I are determined to have a thrifty September.

This is the first month where we haven't paid anything to OH's credit card :D

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Msg OH to ask him to pick me up some Kefir as I have wrecked my stomach balance over my time off - done
    • No alcohol. This has crept up slightly again.
    • No sugary stuff - again, been on a bit of a nibble with this.
    • Work overtime
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Wash on 30 deg. OH to put out. - done
    • Get all my timesheets up to date as I have some overtime to claim - done. Also realised that I have 7 holiday days to use up! Have booked 4 of them.
    • Gym at lunchtime - just did some stretching as have a cough and cold at the moment. Nothing serious but left me a bit short of breath. - done
    • Message my mum to see if they are planning to come up this month. My dad won't commit until a week before he comes up which is pretty unfair on us. Apparently I will be cooking for them! Blimmin busman's holiday for me eh?? - done
    • Move some monies online due to TSB breakdown. Again  - done
    • Poss a bit of sock knitting if time tonight.
    • Freeze bits that were hurriedly put into fridge now that there's room in the freezer
    • Water greenhouse
    • Check that new gas/elec tariff has been applied to account - done. It has applied. I went for the 3 year fix in the end. Seems like a good plan.
Think that's it. Keeping my hands on those pennies this month. I might start leaving my card at home to avoid any spur of the moment spends.

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all :)

Sorry to hear that you are feeling low Ziggy :( Here's hoping you perk up again soon.
Foxgloves and Ally, enjoy your hols :D

    Today I have:
Washed hair and allowed to dry naturally
HG raspberries and blueberries for breakfast fruit, with leftover stewed apple / apple sauce from last night :)
Checked banks and updated spreadsheet, as most of the direct debit bills have gone out
Received 400 Nectar points coupon in the post :)
    Posted ebay parcel
Returned library books, avoiding a fine :)
Restocked sales unit, and it was payday :j August wasn't too bad.
Made grooming appointment for dog - not moneysaving, but he looks like a small mobile compost heap at the moment
2 loads of washing dry on line before it rained!
Some tidying in the garden - cut back unruly climbing rose, prunings in a tub awaiting our next trip to the tip, cut back lavender, watered pots in front garden (before it rained), picked 2 courgettes before they turned into marrows, a small bowl of raspberries, a few blueberries, which have sadly nearly finished now, and 2 summer squashes.
Lunch and dinner from stores, lots to use up. Chicken pesto salad for dinner tonight (not sure if that is a thing or if I have just made it up because I have cold chicken and pesto to use up :rotfl:)
Only spend today was 30p parking in town - I had too much to carry to walk it, even with my trusty trolley!

Good morning all and thanks Dnms for the new thread. Glad to hear that you're getting on well with the pressure cooker.
    to everyone :)

I'm not going to put up a huge list today as I've got an appointment this afternoon but no idea how long its going to take.

    Today I must
 Pop to Aldee and get bread/veggies for dh & kids lunches for tomorrow (back to school here tomorrow) Dh has picked up the shopping as he was out
 Make ^^ lunches ready waiting for him to come home from work so that I can do this!
    Check banking/update spreadsheet :D
 Make stock in the slowcooker Got out and all filled up but forgot to switch it on :o
 Double check that labels are on everything of the kids for school tomorrow Done
 Share bathwater and continue use up of lotions and potions

Depending on time, I might also
** Start replacing the cupboard doors Done and its looking really good, decided I'm going to buy another unit to match it too.
** Iron a few shirts not done
** Make up the spare room bed now its all been washed and dried not done
** Hoover round everywhere not done
** Fill in those dr transfer forms (yes I know I said you could kick me if I didn't get them done on Friday but... well they're still there!) not done

    Take care all.

So there is quite a lot on there that I haven't done as we did the cupboards instead, which has made such a change to the feel of the room, looks much bigger. As I've got these done today though I will easily be able to get through the rest of the list tomorrow when the kids are back in school.

In other news, I've had my hospital appointment and they've given me a cortisone injection so I'm hopeful that I can get back to the gym properly now (which is not only good for the exercise, but my mental health and help with losing the weight which in turn should help with my knee pain. Fingers crossed! )

CCl, I hope your first day back was ok
    Ziggy, :grouphug:

  • DNMS Thank you for starting this weeks thread :A Good to hear you survived the pressure cooker experiment and it sounds like a piece of equipment that will work for you.

Today I need to deal with the washing, I couldn't be bothered with it over the weekend for some reason. So sorting, washing a load, getting it dry and away needs to happen as well as setting up the machine to do a load overnight. By the time I had sorted and loaded the machine it was raining, checked the forecast it is set to last the day, I didn't wash it but I have set it to run overnight

OH gets paid today :j we can finally plan this month's spends. We have to wait until he has actually been paid as even though year to year is similar, month to month varies dramatically. This month could be double or half of last month:eek: I keep trying to build up a buffer to smooth over the peaks and troughs. This month's wages are on the low side :( it will take over half our savings to cover this month's outgoings:eek: but we will have cleared our final debt with the exception of the mortgage :j

Good luck to everyone who is back at school and work this week.

Today's plans, hopefully, I will add to throughout the day:
    Check bank accounts Done
Plan finances for the month Done
    Dry washing outside see above
    Meal plan Done
    NSD Done
Home Educate children for free (& no uniforms or school shoes to buy) Done

As well as managing most of what I set out to do I also managed to:
    :heart:Make a loaf
:heart:Refill shower dispenser with free shower gel (& there are 3 more free full sized bottles in the cupboard)
:heart:Started the process for changing our gas & electricity supplier
:heart:Made chicken stock in the slow cooker overnight, transferred to a pan to reduce, once most of the liquid had gone I cooled it and poured into an ice cube tray, once frozen I will put the cubes in a box in the freezer and clean the ice cube tray
:heart:RM survey, main survey and correctly delivered :)
:heart:Managed to get lots of no longer needed paperwork in the recycling bin before it was collected.

    Also....

    * Cleaned half the house with Stardrops and washable cloths.

    * Had a lovely hike. No ticket collector on the train on our one stop journey so unable to purchase two single fares back to the car as both stations are unstaffed. ;) Treated ourselves to chips for tea instead.

    * Moved washing into the sunniest room while we were out to dry it for free.

    * Did own pedicure.

  • Hello
Fairly quick one from me because I'm pretty tired tonight. The first week back after summer is a killer - getting back into the routine of getting up and being busy all day etc. I'm so lucky to get the hols I do, but time at work is really busy and really hard. Thankfully our kids aren't back until Wednesday so I have another day of meetings and training tomorrow and a bit more time to get planning for when we get going with the teaching and learning again.
Love and hugs to all that need them, and congrats BB on clearing that debt :D 1LL, get those forms done!, and those who are enjoying time off - enjoy :D
I've bagged my first nsd of the month, and I might have bagged myself a jam making pan as well. I was talking about it at work today, when a colleague mentioned that someone had bought her a new preserving pan in a kit, which was a lovely present but she didn't want it because she loved using her granny's old jam making pan. She said she would bring it in for me to have - I asked her if she wanted any money for it but she insists not. We'll see if that happens. Then I really will have no excuses.
Got home later than I'd planned. Stayed late at work to tidy my classroom, then got caught in traffic after a van broke down on the main road. I've done leftovers for dinner, made sure both kids are ready to go back in to school tomorrow, done a bit more work (and they think teachers do nothing eh?), and now am catching up on here before planning a very early night. Bagged a nsd because I've been too busy to do anything much. Thankfully my cleaner has been so there isn't anything to do around the house - I'm too tired for it tonight.
