Post part deux (was doing funny things so posted before it disappeared).
Slept early, slept well, slept most of this morning as well. Today's priorities are getting as much rubbish out as possible, collecting my prescription and doing sundry 'doctor's' things and getting to Morries (infirmary bus runs between there and the Sports Village with Morries being near to the end of the run) so want an all day ticket and to hop on and off at various places.
Somewhat unturtley but Morries still has a salad bar and I want two large containers full (I pack rice and couscous into every nook and cranny). Expensive but less than buying all the ingredients and making all the different salads from scratch. Full container will be a whole days food (and that's if I'm being greedy).
Hope to drop in on mum with more bread and some cheese. Back on termtime routine now so I am there Friday not Thursday so want to make sure she has everything she might need (she's not going to starve with the fully stocked soupery - even if other people keep making fun of me over it).
For yesterday I am grateful for mum's shower (I had a bath as soon as I got home in the early hours of Saturday morning but worried about getting out and haven't had a bath for the past two days - I have a shower but no grab rails), for looking relaxed in my skin in the wedding photos (hate having my photo taken, not thrilled with being so big but look great compared to photos taken at DS2's 21st and graduation - tense, about to retreat into my shell and exhausted according to one of my cousins) and for getting some things done (not enough, it's never enough, but then looking back to when the children were small I was always trying to run faster and do more so maybe I need the different approach). Have been seeing references to Japanese way of life for older people and it's mostly about taking things slowly, noticing and enjoying all the little things - really appeals to me.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
thrifty I've worked out they average one a day, more if they have guests staying (very conscious of toilet roll consumption since 'toiletgate' back when Kat was still running the challenges). Meant to buy before going away but thought I had counted 40 and they'd last until I got back (I think there are 12 unaccounted for unles DS3 has had a cold - he uses them to wipe his nose and takes them to his bedroom and wherever he might be working).
It's not an easy thing for me to buy as several places do 3 x 18 pack for £10 which is rather bulky and means a dedicated trip. Morries had 18 packs for £3 and I bought lots every time I was going to have a taxi home but they seem to omit the best bargains from the home delivery website.
I'm also trying to switch back to either 100% recycled or get sustainable bamboo but that's more expensive and they come in 4 packs (can't build a decent tower behind the bathroom door). I used to be a Traidcraft rep and it originally came in a cardboard box without extra packagaing. Many students (sons and their housemates) have been grateful for these. As one of them said "If you've always lived at home, toilet paper isn't something you think of buying until you're sitting there, looking at the empty roll.

Actually we use them for blowing noses too as it's cheaper than tissues or kitchen roll. I'm trying to refine my toilet roll shopping just now. Aldi is to fluffy (left with paper dust all over the bathroom) and most value ones are too thin. Atm I get the big 24 packs from ADSA when they are on offer for about 30p a roll.

Afternoon Turtles
An unexpected NSD 7/20. Thought I had a hairdresser's appointment but I got the date wrong, It should have been last week. Had to phone and apologise and reschedule for next week. I'm all over the place just now. Really disorganised. Must get things all sorted out before we go on holiday at the end of the month.
Mothernerd/Thrifty We buy toilet rolls in packs of 18 and Himself insists that we always have two!! Told you he was a hoarder. We have 42 rolls of kitchen towel - don't ask!!
Sashanut We have pate like that in our freezer - no idea when it went in there. One of the many things that Himself has frozen and forgotten about.
Meeting some friends tomorrow. Unscheduled but since the're only here for a few days from London and I haven't seen them for ages I guess I can be excused. Might not be too spendy anyway.
Left over roast beef from Sunday for dinner and had poached egg on toast for lunch. At least we've been spending very little on food.
Have a nice evening.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Send me to the naughty step. Now.
Found 10 good sized candles in glass thingies for 38p each, so bought them for teachers' gifts at Xmas. YS, but still. Also found 3 cups with Holy Crab! on.. and a cartoon crab. YS down to 50p.
And one item DH wanted, which was the original thing I went in for.
However the school refunded me £5 for overcharging me for a school trip last term.
So I am ending the day with money left over, but by chance rather than by design.
Today was not a NSD. I am still on 4...4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
