You could pop round for tea and cake, whilst showing them how to close a window :)

If you're burned at the stake PLEASE tell the neighbours first so they can close their windows.

  • Smoking is a very trampy thing to do.

Having said that, you have every right to smoke anywhere in your own garden.

Having said THAT, would you honestly want to continue smoking in the same spot when you've been told it goes into someone's bedroom?

Whatever you do, don't get into vaping: those guys are just insufferable with their clouds of secondhand candyfloss breath.

I mean I smoke, I fully intend to stop but Christ those people do my head in.

Thanks for pointing that out squizzer, I do apologise that my humour isn't to your taste. I do hope that this autumn is productive on the nut collecting front.

I think your neighbour is overreacting OP. They’ve probably listened to all the hype from the media that the slightest whiff of secondhand smoke will be fatal. Unless they’re the type who live on an organic wholegrain vegan diet, never go near cars, etc then they are exposed to all sorts of harmful substances on a daily basis. Like everyone else.

You can smoke anywhere you want on your own property. If this neighbour is the type who just likes to moan at people, it won’t make any difference where in your garden you smoke. She’ll probably still complain. Or she’ll soon find something else to moan about.

Assuming of course, the OP doesn't live in a smoke control area or conservation zone where open fires are banned.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I genuinely think its a lot of fuss about nothing but it seems I am in minority. The only reason I asked was i was taken aback by her demand we stop as I've never encountered this before. Thanks all :)

I'm not a smoker, but I agree that it seems a lot of fuss about nothing. I actually really dislike tobacco smoke and have an albeit fairly minor allergic reaction to it.

"Fill their daughters bedroom with smoke"? What are you smoking, a garden incinerator? :rotfl:. Up to you what you do of course, but they could try closing their daughters window for a few minutes if they are that concerned.

What do they do in the street, in the park, or other places where smoking is permitted?
